SOLO Instances for PvE Grind

There are so many places to grind in the game, why do you need a Solo Instance of it?

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Not the worst idea in the world.

However ZOS doesn't support grinding that much has been obvious for a while so something like that won't get implemented.

Wait.... you just said ZOS DOESNT support grinding that much?

Are you sure you're playing eso?

I'm not averse to dungeons etc having differently scaled instances according to solo, duo, group etc and as a soloer (who also does cooperative play) I would welcome additional solo instances in that sense. However, I've no interest in grinding and have never done it or understood why people would rather stick in one place and level up rather than play the whole game, no matter how many different characters they've already done it with.

Like we get told over and over when it comes to nodes, they aren't "your" mobs, so no one is stealing anything from anyone. I may or may not be being serious ;)

Not for Grind, but I think ZoS went overboard with the whole public thing. I think that some groups and individuals should be instanced more, just to stop some of the idiocy griefers bring.

I said it before being told about an ancient keep that has been abandoned for 500 years and finding said keep only to realize the population of a small Vermont town is wondering around there and there is a guy outside selling T shirts is kinda stupid.

So I tried to look this up now and I cannot find any evidence that another player will lose XP (or gain only a limited amount of XP) if another player helps him/her to defeat a mob.

So first they released 1T, now zones feel populated. And then they'll release Solo, instanced grind-spots so we can further cut ourselves off from other players, in an MMO. Could we also just turn every player we do happen to have the misfortune of coming across, into mute NPCs? This whole social-thing is ruining the pseudo-single-player experience.

    I hope this never happens.
Gaining exp is easy and fast as it currently is.

Please no, I play solo most of the time due to a lot of IRL interruptions and can't dedicate the time to groups but I still like seeing and being around other players, I really don't care for an empty world/zone/dungeon.

I played Eq2 since it came out and it ended up becoming a massively solo online rpg. The reasoning for that was that they failed hardcore at implementing a dungeon finder that didn't suck or by the time they did, everyone was so used to "LFG" in channels that they didn't use it. This game has a perfectly fine and mainstream dungeon finder. It is not hard to find groups and therefore there is no excuse to turn this game into a MSO from an MMO. If you want to play solo then I suggest Skyrim, as a solo alternative I would say it's better than this game in many ways.

Has anyone in this thread mentioned normal Maelstrom yet? :-P

Though if you really are in it for the XP, you probably want to duo normal DSA or Skyreach Catacombs or queue for a random normal dungeon and take your XP pot just before you get to the last boss.

I really hope zos doesn't start going down this route. Lets not forget this is an mmo. Sure it's annoying when people ruin my grinding, but at the end of the day there are a wealth of great single player experiences out there. This isn't and shouldn't be one of them. VMA was the dumbest thing they ever did, don't encourage more bad mistakes.

Its not about being anti-social when wanting to grind. Its about being selective social, wich is a different approach.
I find myself in more and more situations where I cant even complete a quest normally, because there are a ton of people "farming" the mobs for xp.

Thanks everyone, for the thirty of you who mentioned Maelstrom arena. It seems to be about 1/3rd as fast as grinding elsewhere, and far to involved for my tastes. I would like a bit of solitude without having to go go to northern Skyrim.

its an mmorpg... i just came from ff14 that had too many solo instanced story missions. forced too, it gets annoying after a bit.

this game was forced solo more often then not. I'm happy they fixed it to be more mmorpg.

I never understood why people play mmorpg, then just want to make it mostly solo.... this mindset is killing the mmorpg concept.

This isn't posted in hopes of playing Banished cells by myself (which would be AWESOME! Maybe I'd finally get to hear the dialogue of the quest), but rather in hopes of an instanced, solo, grind location.

I'd like to have the ability to grind the way I like without losing XP to additional players. Perhaps a private instance with tons of zombies, or those fat Daedra who beat their chests?

Just purchased my first Mythic XP potion in game (25k, a lot of money for me, a casual player), and I'd love to use it in an environment with no one else to absorb the XP.

    Thanks!

P.S. There are tons of other reasons for solo instances which are also good grind spots, but that is another post.

I hear ya. There are plenty of "group" areas you can go to in Solo mode. The one most people use these days I would think is Skyreach Catacombs in Crag. Tons of people there Soloing or small groups leveling their toons.

Oh, and you CAN solo Vet dungeons as well. Try them in Normal first and see how you do. Lots of XP. Volenfell is a fun one to Solo.

The XP from 4-man group dungeons is bad. It's a fraction of what you get elsewhere. And the XP is the same on normal as it is on vet.

If the goal is to get XP, soloing a vet dungeon is one of the worst ways to go about it. Soloing a normal dungeon would be much better (same XP, but much faster clear), but is still pretty bad compared to other forms of grinding. That said, the daily XP reward for doing a random dungeon is very high (though it's the same reward whether you do normal or vet, so if your primary goal is to get the most amount of XP in the least amount of time, then you should do it on normal).

(DSA's XP rewards are very good, however, and 2-manning nDSA is a fun way to level up, if you want to do something less mind-numbing than Skyreach. I wouldn't recommend soloing nDSA for the XP, though--nMA is more efficient than nDSA if you're going solo.)

I think quite a few people kinda fall into a middle ground with the whole MMO thing.

Me personally - I like to solo while questing and exploring (less drama and responsibility) but what I do like is a world that is alive with other players.

I like socializing with my guildmates
I like buying and selling goods via a market based system to other live players
I like bumping into random people adventuring and throwing a quick heal to help out if they are struggling
I like running into town and actually seeing other people doing their thing
I like feeling that the world is alive and others in it are not just some coded pixels roaming in a predestined pattern

I just prefer to adventure alone

First off, some people are acting like the OP is pushing for FORCED solo instances, they are not... if you want to grind around others, then don't utilize the instanced solo option.

Second, I must once again inform many apparently new players to ESO, what Matt Firor stated in an article how ESO is "... not really a traditional MMO", clearly ESO is a heavily solo-oriented MMO and will continue to be so. Previously there were plans to add other 'group only' zones like Craglorn, but they scrapped those plans and then made most of Craglorn soloable; ZOS knows what content players are playing and create content for the majority of players.

If they make 5 dungeons with an update and 2 of them are solo. That means 2 are not for groups.

So in a way, yes they are being forced since we're getting less content as a result. There is literally a hundred solo instanced dungeons in Skyrim (the game). We don't have that many group instanced dungeons in ESO.

Already for the retail box of the game you get ALOT of solo content. The group game is rather weak and needs addressing, badly.

Apparently you didn't read the article I posted? Clearly ESO is designed to be a pretty much solo game with 'play with others' tacked on. They have already removed the concept of 'group only' zones. They know who their majority of players are and will focus on that, but will add some group content here and there.
