Hi all,

I haven't played in eons, but the recent housing news led me to patch up and try things out again.

Every time I reup, though, I tend to get overwhelmed with the intracacies of min/maxing just the right build. I'm old and slow and the two bar combat mechanic alone makes it rough for me.

I have many of the classes stocked with high skill points and maybe 230 CPs, and personally enjoy all the classes, both melee and ranged versions.

I'm looking for a faceroll easy solo PvE build, any any suggestions would be appreciated.

TIA,
Hoy.

You picked a hell of a time to return to the game. I'll leave it to the folks who actually use the latest cheese to explain but you're gonna have a great time

If you have lots of time, go for a 80k health tank.
You'll hit like a wet noodle but you'll be able to solo pretty much anything in this game by just standing there.

Also be aware that 99% of the people posting their DPS numbers will post numbers while grouped. Not only do they have group buffs added, but they also have their friends keeping the mob(s) aggro so they never have to block/dodge/heal or even move for that matter.
For a solo player, those DPS numbers mean absolutely nothing.
Don't get sucked into the epeen game. (Ok, that didn't sound PG13)

Oh, and then there's my personal favorite, the pet sorc.
Bring your own personal tank and just sit back and do heavy attacks with your resto staff.
1.8 million health boss? No problem, give me 15 minutes, i got this!

An easy build is probably a puncturing sweeps magicka templar build.

Just get TBS or Julianos and some other Magicka set (Spinner?) and you are set. Throw in a monster set and you are golden.

You will heal yourself through with puncturing sweeps so unless you get one shotted you will pretty much never die.

A harder build but higher dps build is stamina sorcerer. With crit surge they can heal themselves quite well and dish out tons of single target dps as well as aoe dps.

Also, I wouldn't agree with the previous poster that dps doens't matter, as you don't want to spend an hour killing one enemy. Sorcs can easily hit the high 20k dps on a single target with the right rotation (and right gear and cp). Templars won't hit as high (hard to hit over 20k single - target) but will stay alive.

Go for magicka templar....... it's easy solo class but not the best of all but somewhere above the list.

    Tank- blazing shield empowering sweeps.
    DD- Puncturing sweeps and RD.
Healer- Breath of life and repentance.

If you are a vampire then add Blood swarm( bat swarm)?

Mag sorc with lighning and resto staff is pretty good solo I think. Lighning flood, storm armor, mage's warth and destro ult will deal with the crowds, Shock pulse, fragment and Wrath for solo targets. (eg. dungeon bosses). Add pets if need someone to keep enemies busy. If you are getting damage, switch to resto staff and cast healing ward, mutagen or healing spring.

    Magicka Templar.

its very easy to play and very versatile end game when you know more about the game in what roles it can fill.

and you can solo the entire game no problem with your first three skills ^_^

previously full time subscriber, beta-2024, now off and on, game got too disappointing.

I've used both a magical Templar and a magsorc pet build to clear group dungeons and World Bosses solo. Slow but sure.

Templar is the easiest and most forgiving to play. Self heals, good damage good all around character. Can be used as dps or healer, not sure about tank though.

Each class have 3 skill lines ...

    Templar:
    • Aedric Spear skill line first skill: Puncturing Strikes - morph it to Puncturing Sweeps
    • Dawns Wrath skill line first skill: Sun Fire - morph it to Reflective Light
    • Restoring Light skill line first skill: Rushed Ceremony - morph it to Breath of Life

You don't need more skills for most solo content as a templar, later on when you level up your skill lines, you eventually get more options and can play a bit around if you wish to ....but the first 3 class skills you have access to are really enough. Templar is great if you can't be bothered to switch bar, or bother too much with weapon skill lines ^^

    OP here.

It looks there's a consensus and I have three main options:

    1. Sorc w pet
    2. Jabs Magplar (wonder if there's a good ranged Temp build, too)
    3. Mag Sorc w/o pet

They all sound fun, and I should have enough skill points to experiment a bit. If anyone has any links to builds of the above that they like, please feel free to send them along.

    Again, I appreciate the tips.

I was in imperial city the other day and came across another alliance member soloing a wandering horror using exactly that kind of build. I admit to being somewhat impressed while I patiently waited for him to finish so I could gank him when he was out of resources >:D

My favourite Pve solo build is stam sorc tremorscale tank.

Crit surge is the best thing in the game.

Go 5 piece knight errant, 2 piece tremorscale, 5 something else (seventh legion brute, thunderbug, storm knight, depends on what i'm doing)

You pretty much just hit pierce armour on everything till it dies. Sits on about 11k dps solo target, with 5k hps.
Due to mitigation you're healing more than you are hurting for pretty much all content.

I've been slowly working my way through vet dungeons and have completed vMA with this build, with Australian lag and old man slow reflexes

    Magicka Nightblade

Rapid Maneuvers + Concealed Weapon + Shadow Cloak = Invisibility with +55% speed
Twisting Path + Elemental Blockade + Sap Essence = Silly amount of AoE dmg and healing
Cripple + Swallow Soul = Dmg, HoT and +30% speed

I believe this is by far the fastest and easiest solo class/spec.

The whole game is easy mode.

If you know anything about the game, and how the basic mechanics work, you can build you character efficiently.

But hey, if there is one advice I can give to solo players is:
"be a Sorcerer and use Power Surge(magicka) or Critical Surge(stamina)"

I'd say pretty well any class/build is fine for solo PvE, but you can't in any event go wrong with a magic templar.

As a solo PvEer, you have no reason to even look at min/maxing, let alone get overwhelmed by it. Just play the game the way you want to, and have fun. I've been doing just that since the PC launch and it's worked out fine. Most of my characters only use a single weapon bar. The second bar is really only necessary if you're switching between roles and/or playing competitively. It can be useful and fun to have a second weapon or indeed to set up a second bar for the same weapon type so that, for example, one bar skill set is for single mobs, the other for groups of mobs, but it certainly isn't essential and the game is structured so that you can simply stick to what you find you're comfortable with.

eh I play all classes, and they are all easy and have their benefits in certain situations, however none of them can compare to how easy it is to be a magicka templar because of Puncturing Sweep ...

It's a cone-aoe skill that gives high single target damage, and heals you at the same time. The more enemies, the better you can maintain your healthbar while you deal damage.... it's a spamable 1 button win. Adding the other 2 class skills you have unlocked at start then you're pretty much immortal & overhealed .... you have to work for dying lol.
    • Big mean boss spawns adds? Great, it means more healing if you continue spamming Puncturing Sweeps
    • Big mean boss hits you with a strong attack? cast 1 Breath of Life and you're full in health, continue using Puncturing Sweeps.
    • Big mean boss has a lot of health? Cast Reflective Light and continue using Puncturing Sweeps ..boss dies faster.
    • Many enemies at once show you attention? Use Puncturing Sweeps.

I mean this playstyle even removes the need for kiting anything <3

I reworked my Templar to try and make the Magplar according to the suggestions here, and though fun, I was OOM very, very quickly. Surely I'm missing something.

Thelon has a pet sorc build called the unholy hesrdsman. 1T version is easy to gear up besides the maelstrom staff. Second option would be a magplar. Jabs keeps you alive. Another option could be a simplified one bar nb sap tank. Funnel health, sap essence, siphoning attacks. Craft some magic set heavy armor and you will be tanky, have decent healing, good resource management, and decent damage. Wont be the strongest tank or dd but will defiantly offer an easy mode for most solo pve.

If your thinking harder solo pve content like maelstrom arena I recommend ducks magplar build.
