I play magika DK's mostly... so no, I feel I have no chance.
Magicka DKs aren't that bad, after the changes to Burning Embers some patches ago. For a first clear, you can just spam Burning Embers while keeping Blockade and Eruption going. The DPS isn't very high with a strategy like this, but it's good enough and the insane Embers heals coupled with your reflect means that you are almost unkillable.

A lot of people underestimate the DK (both mag and stam) in vMA, myself included. I didn't try the stam DK until after beating it with a stam sorc because I kept thinking "sorc = easy, DK = hard", and I actually found the stam DK easier than the stam sorc because of the reflective wings. I didn't try the mag DK until after I had beaten vMA on all three of the other mag classes, and again, it turned out much easier than I had expected and feared. I played defensively, using Embers spam, keeping wings up, and I actually found it a bit easier than a Templar. It's not the easiest out there (magblade is always going to be my favorite), but it's not the kind of horror that I had been expecting.

Oh, and the other day, when I was PUGing a pledge, I saw a mag DK with the Stormproof title and CP somewhere in the 300-400 range (I just remembered the first digit :p).

He has over 50 k health but can't get past round 1 lol. :)
Your outgoing damage scales off of your max resource pool. You need only 17-20K health in vMA, so 30K extra health means 30K less max stamina or 30K less max magicka. That is like losing 3K weapon damage or 3K spell damage. Things hit very hard in vMA, and 30K extra health will keep you alive for maybe 5 extra seconds. This means that you are actually less survivable with the extra 30K health because if your damage output is too low, then enemies stay alive for much longer, and the extra damage that they can do as a result will more than negate whatever extra health you have.

The point of this thread being? I haven't cleared the arena because though I have recently bought the DLC as part of Guilds and Glory bundle, I consider putting the finishing touches on another 2 main characters and farming some of the dungeon gear as a higher priority - the majority is decon trash but there are a few really good sets, like Burning Spellwave. Will I clear the arena in the near future? Of course, because the weapons are simply too good. Is it difficult? Yes, of course it is. But I'm not a quitter. Once I set off doing something, I don't stop until I do. Bringing an ineffective build and ignoring the mechanics then complaining you can't finish the dungeon, trial or arena doesn't make any sense to me, though I see many people in dungeons doing it. I let them do it for a few times, but at the 3rd wipe I simply wish them a good evening and press P->X->E. Will I run it incessantly, 5 times a day, once I clear it? Absolutely not, because it leads to burnout. I can't play the same dungeon or trial twice in a row and I take turns farming various content, storing the good pieces that drop for future use. Probably VMA will just become integrated into that circuit.

I tried it on two characters - magsorc and stamblade. Stamlade couldn't get past 3rd arena. Magsorc spend, to count all hours, whole day at that awful place if not more, dying hundreds of times, and max I achieved is getting on platform and starting to damage warding crystals for last boss :/ So sad, but that's where I finally gave up; lost lot of soul gems, potions, food - for nothing but frustration and sadness. RNG threats make this all artificially much harder than it should be - I was killed by environment most of times... Each time I completed a stage, I didn't feel proud or strong - I only felt a huge relief and couldn't believe another part of this nightmare is over :/ I'll try it again someday on other characters, but not much hope - it's not rewarding experience.

All vMA in one picture :) Me and boss are extremely enraged by this awful place!

to stressy for me saddly, locking higher end gear behind a solo wall when i play ESO for the elder scrolls with friends thing kinda made me wanna slam my head agasint a wall when i found out what VMA gave.

if they want a leaderboard and achievement for beating it solo be my guest but i want to duo it at least even if it stops my leader board or flawless achievement.

i wanted Co-op fun not torture.
PLEASE REPLY TO ME WITH @dsalter otherwise i'm likely to miss the reply if its not my own thread

Hones your build for PvE, especially self healing, I think it hones your skills for PvP too, the intensity, warding, rotations, accuracy.

I don't get the love for it,I've done it and got stormproof,it's not like it changes after you've run it. Aside from the potential wep drop it's a waste of time after that. As for pvp, I personally got better by playing pvp not a solo dungeon.

If you practice it, and don't just quit after that first completion with 468854 deaths and all sigils uses, it makes you a much better player. Teaches you how to sustain, handle and be aware of mechanics and environment around you.

But as I said, that only comes with practice and getting to know the arena, doing only one run dont.

I'm not doing anything else in this blasted game til I can beat maelstrom. I've watched countless videos spent 2 hours every nite this week fighting my way to Voriak Solkyn and can't get past the crystal phase.

You get the title for beating it the first time, no matter how many thousand deaths you had and if you used all sigils every round and it took you months to complete.

It's not the title for beating it with no deaths and saves, that is "The Flawless Conqueror"

Although the title "Stormproof" should only be unlocked if you clear it without any sigils used I my opinion.
Maybe add "Diaperproof" for those instead ;)

Well, if you are on EU PC don't block me :)

My main is a pretty strong tank, and I haven't played my alts as much as I played him. Since he's a full stamina build DK (not the ideal race but not that bad either) I will spec 2W when I recoup my research and hireling points and hit VMA. Until now the only dungeons that give me the pleasure of DPSing are DSC2 and WGT. I like to execute that annoying robot spider and flame attro with my maul :)

vMA does make you a better player, no doubt. When doing it for the weapons though, you should probably know it's not gonna be 50 runs. And it won't be 100 runs either. And if you're not going for the Sharpened Bow but for the Sharpened Inferno, you're easily looking at a year of daily farming (multiple times). ~430 runs here and no Sharpened Inferno.

Of course there is a chance to just get lucky, but it's only few who will be blessed by RNGesus. There is a good chance to end up like Streak (the guy with the 600k score; first Sharpened Inferno drop after 1500 runs). And he loves this arena and pretty much lives there. If you don't believe vMA is the best content ever created in any computer game, you will have a bad time going for the weapons.

Went into Vet once by mistake and died to very first monster hahaha. I will never be good enough to complete that arena or any Vet Trials, so im stuck with boring questing

I did the same exact thing the first time I thought I was doing normal. Died pretty much immediately, and when I did get to normal it was a struggle to beat it. I had to watch videos and all that, but I actually just got my first clear a couple days ago and beat my first vet trial a couple weeks ago. Trust me, if you're determined enough to do it, you will beat it.
