    • The patcher will display the server as NA, but this is a display error that will be fixed soon. Server selection (NA or EU) can be chosen once you log in.
    • The size of the patch should be about 2.3GB. Let the update fully run; the step for verification sometimes makes it look like the patch is much larger than it actually is.

The problem is that even though our "The Elder Scrolls Online" folder is already 50GB+, it still wants to download the whole game, since we only get a "Install" button. For me, it says that I have not enough disk space, even though I have 55GB free. It is pretty wierd. I guess I have to redownload the whole game -_-

Ah - 55GB free for a 50GB download - no you don't have enough space. Windows does some pretty weird things like copying twice then transferring and it has to have room to expand when downloaded etc. For a 50 Gb download I would rcommend at least 80Gb free.

That was not my point. Of course I would need more than 55GB for a 50GB download. I was trying to say that it really wants to download the whole game again, instead of just a patch (for which 50GB would be enough)... but the problem is solved now anyhow (see above).

I would also like realm status back on the launcher - I understand that the launcher now covers NA, EU, and PTS, but could there not be 3 lines with lights on the launcher? So it could read:

NA Server (little red/blue light indicating status)
EU Server (little red/blue light indicating status)
PTS (little red/blue light indicating status).

Looking at the launcher now, it all looks very pretty, but is missing the vital information about whether I can actually log in to any particular server.
Yes, this would be the ideal way for it to show up IMO.

The sad thing is, I don't think it is that complicated to do, I am not the world's premier web guru but I think all that would be needed is for the launcher to ping the servers and see if there is a response, and display a red/blue light for each server depending upon response time. Unless I have completely misunderstood how it works, it's not rocket science.

It is not rocket science, but just something they did not complete brfore today. Fell below the cut line for initial rollout, they will get to it later. Typical ZOS.

To be honest I'm NA and that was the first thing I thought too when I saw that those are the options... Maybe a minor thing in the grand scheme of things, but I'd think it might lead EU players to feel like they're an afterthought.

Well, I am a tech oriented person, so I know the NA client is in Live, but I can see people looking at that wondering which to pick. Classic usability issue. They needed to have someone spend a little more time on the launcher, and have the changes reviewed by a usability person.

They are moving to more how they have it on the console by making only one PC or Mac client instead of two. Less storage needed out on Akamai, can test one client instead of two clients, no need for the player to maintain two distinct add-on sets, and it is possible to change realms without restarting the client.

It has some drawbacks in that they did not finish the launcher before releasing it. Data collection add-ons will now have a mix of NA and EU data. I am sure there are others.

But, hey, look on the bright side. Crown Crates are polished to a finely honed sheen and ready for launch in November!

I dread the patch every time. I just want to play the game quietly for a couple of hours in the evening. Instead I get immersed into the world of renaming folders, downloading a full 40 GB instead of 2 GB patch(yes, that's what I got now). I'm not an IT expert, I am not supposed to be doing all this ***.
I have got my old folder named Elder Scrolls Online EU, but it is downloading to a folder named Elder Scrolls Online.
    Can they do anything right?

Yes and no. There is an issue but it's nothing to worry about. Here's a quick summary:

The launcher no longer allows you to choose your server, the only options are the Live game (currently showing as NA) and the PTS if you have it installed. You should choose The Elder Scrolls Online (NA).

When the game loads you will be asked via a pop-up to choose your default server. In theory this is the one the game will default to when you start it up.

On the login screen there will be a new option in the menu on the right hand side, saying Server (Live) or (Live-EU). This is how you choose which server to log into now. Regardless of what you picked on the pop-up it might say Live and will need to be changed to Live-EU.

You then need to wait a minute or two until the text below where you put in your username and password says "Welcome to the Elder Scrolls Online on the European PC/Mac megaserver!"

Then you can log in as normal.

For now you'll need to check that text and maybe wait or use the menu to switch servers every time you log in, otherwise it defaults back to the NA server and you'll be presented with either your NA characters or (if you don't have any) the character creation screen.

I was playing on EU, then the game crashed. When trying to log back in I ended up on NA. I have tried all the steps, and am now stuck at the "wait a minute or two"... where it still hasn't changed after 10 minutes of waiting.

@Pathfindr that's my experience too... I was chatting with my guild on EU server, and had encountered no problems untill I suddently crashed, and can now only log into NA server..
I tried everything, even clicking "PLAY" button on the launcher, which is my last resort to try and log into the game lol

Yup, I waited at least 15 minutes and the server choice didn't change. (Chose EU several times.) Was the first time I tried to log into the game after the update.

I thought that, and then I realised that Japanese players are on the "NA" server. So really, the two servers are "Europe" and "Rest of the World".

I'm pleased with the change. I live in London but am inclined to be awake very late into the night, so all of my main characters are on NA. Now I might actually be able to play EU sometimes.

That's intended! Here's what we included in today's patch notes:

    Patcher Updates
We’ve made several updates and changes to the ESO patcher in this update.
    • The patcher will no longer have a selection for the NA and EU realms. Instead, the selection will now be made in-game.
      • You will receive a pop-up when you first log in after this update to choose a preferred realm.
      • If you have characters on both realms and frequently switch, you can find this option under Settings on the login screen.
      • Known Issue: The patcher will still display “The Elder Scrolls Online (NA)” as the main server. However, both NA and EU are accessible by selecting that realm. This will be fixed in a future patch.
    • The PTS will still be accessible in the patcher if you have that option selected to display.
    • There will no longer be a red/green light indicating the realm status on the patcher.
      • This is something we’re exploring as an addition in a future update.
    • The image on the installer and the background of the patcher has been changed to a new image of the Tamrielic map.
    • If you regularly play on both realms and run different settings for add-ons, these settings will be reverted to default.
    • There will be an update to the patcher that we encourage you to download before attempting to launch the game after the maintenance for this update is complete.

Would be great if all this actually worked...

I seem to have jumped the gun when I posted the above...

Not even going to try to play again until there is a patch, whenever that may be...
