So we're having maintenance today, and the servers are being taken down again on Wednesday?
    I doubt it.
If today is really server maintenance, then either something is seriously wrong, or ZOS are the worst planners in the history of man.

Sorry BFT, I start work at 5am, why can't they start work at 5am and start the downtime then? It's not suffering, it's called a job.

Except their job hours are different. You going to pay for their overtime to compensate?

Regardless, you can't make someone work if their time outside of work is spent being in it. Once you liquidate that line between private/work life, you increase employee burnout.

It's easier to play outside during maintenance than to make ZoS put strain on their workers for no reason.

Not at all. Simply change hours. As someone else stated earlier, if it were me I'd rather start at 5am than be up till 2am to start a server reboot!

Im kinda getting sick of seing theres a maintaince happening the night i really looked forward to playing.

What happened with the 5am ET time maintaince? 2am ET is a horrible time thats when i love to play .

Im guessing workers got tired of doing maintaince at so late so now we gotta suffer for THEYRE problem

Im not mad. Just disappointed. The 5AM ET maintaince was perfect for me :( hope they go back to it lately its been 2am ET .

You do realise the isn't a magical time when nobody will be affected right? This is perfect for me because I never play at this time of day because of school.

I think Zeni should do maintenance from 4 p.m. to midnight CDT on Thursdays. I work a swing shift, so it wouldn't interrupt my gaming hours, but it'd give the "day walkers" a taste of the medicine that us late-nighters and over-nighters have to deal with on occasion.

    :p

But then the day walker's would complain and make them change it to affect the night crawlers, then you would complain and change it again. How does nobody on these threads have the brains to see that SOMEONE will be affected negatively...

I believe original post was indicating how more convenient for themselves and for others the 5 am Wednesday Eastern was and how we have gotten used to working around that time slot, only to change it to a time that would likely impact EVERYONE on the West Coast (11 pm Sunday).

I agree with this thread's general consensus regarding inconveniencing more players Sunday night at 11PDT/2EDT vs. the very likely less impact Wednesday at 2a PDT/5a EDT.

Mondays can very regularly be a holiday (3 day weekend), and many college students do not take classes that fall on a Monday nor schedule work on Monday. So, I see the logic behind the impact of Sunday vs. Wednesday and 2am vs. 5am

Also, for those that do not run a guild, scheduling maintenance (hereinabove referred to as 'Maintaince') on the same morning we need to Bid for and seek backup Traders is a serious concern for everyone who relies on Traders (buyers and sellers).

Although, I agree, we need less whining and we cannot please everyone, but should try to minimize impact.

Or perhaps their maintenance is during a time period that doesn't inconvenience YOU, and others that go online when you do. As has been said, someone will always get the short end of the straw regarding maintenance, and there is nothing that can be done about it so long as there is always someone in-game 24/7. Not saying it doesn't suck, and for what it's worth I feel for those that lose out over it, but alas there is nothing that can be done if the servers are to remain healthy.

I call general incompetence. Why did they need to do maintenance Sunday night (PDT), when they are going to upgrade the servers again this week and take them down for that? Shouldn't they do it all at once?

Just seems like poor poor planning (and design).

the question has to still be answered, why cant they do there maintenance without taking the server down? its stupid to say the least.

Wouldn't that be like trying to fix a car while it's still running?

They could actually have a bank of servers where they service them individually, while providing continuous service. Other services (banking, shopping) do this as standard practice to provide always on availability.

But I'll bet that the wonderful megaserver architecture prevents this.

    Well designed ZoS...
