Ya, way to long, and with crafted gear not really hitting BiS there's not much motivation or reason to incure the cost both in gold and time to hit 9 trait.
380 ish hours right now on my crafter for one, just one, of three training slots for each of the three primary crafts.
Ridiculous.

I have three training slots per, it states that in my post. Hitting 9th traits across the board takes an excessive amount of time. I prefer to finish it as a personal accomplishment, but I don't see much of a purpose, nor any challenge to it, It's just a time sink. There's almost no market anymore with the vet to CP changes.
I make my own training gear of course, but it takes a couple days to hit 50 and with the changes from vet level to straight CP, there's no point to crafting anything but top tier, and even with that, it gets you ok ish gear but primarily a starter set to get dropped gear. Hardly worth the time sink.
Slightly different point but similar, enchanting is a primary example of the negative effect of vet to CP changes. I have tons of useless runes and the ability to make dozens of enchants under CP160, however they are useless except to brand new players that havent capped CP. There's simply no market or reason to make them any more. Much like most of the crafted sets.
If there was a larger market, as it was with vet levels, crafted gear could be sold at a variety of levels making crafting potentially more profitable, hence worth doing.

I was kind of with you until you said "It gets you okish gear but primarily a starter set to get you dropped gear"... You know alot of really powerful sets are crafted only right?
