How does Gossamer work?

I am genuinely interested in how does Gossamer proc?

Can HoTs proc Gossamer?

And more importantly, does Gossamer refresh the Major Evasion duration on allies?
If it does, will Gossamer actually reduce the duration from a freshly applied Shuffle from 20 to 6 seconds?

Heals over time can proc gossamer. As long as it generally heals their hp it will proc. It will not refresh major evasion from something like shuffle, but it won't stack with it either. The player keeps the one buff that they already have, it isn't replaced, so it stays 20 seconds.

The biggest downside to Gossamer is that it doesn't work if you heal someone at full health. Aside from that, there are no other restrictions or caveats.

It does not refresh shuffle.

It does not proc on full health.

It can proc from any heal burst or HoT.

I have run it on my healer but have since replaced it with Infallible. It feels wasted when you are in easy content when your teams health does not dip much, but can be very useful when your group is under stress and they are getting a lot of HoT ticks.

SPC is BiS for Healer. Paired with Infallible is arguably the best setup. If you don't have infallible, or are in a group where another player is running it, then you can debate based on group composition whether Worm or Gossamer will be most beneficial.

It does not proc on full health

=> a Magicka shield character will rarely benefit from it

Already seldom a benefit from normal heals from the healing cloud of his group,
and typical no benefit from a Gossamer proc that would improve his shield defense or give the chance to auto dodge when the shield is down.

Why this disparity ?

where typical a Sorc has to manage his defenses already all alone, while playing in a group.
