Style is important and does not give you an advantage, unless you blind them with your beauty, re-trait is a whole different ball game.

You should be able to restyle only the rest of the equiptment as long as you have the motive as well as the trait researched that has been used on the particular piece of equiptment. This would encourage people to research traits as well as collect motives.
I think changing the actual trait to something else should not happen. The game is too simple as it is and is slowly becoming a child's game .
Of course I think the chances of this happening is close to Zero. ZoS wants to make money selling 'costumes' to hide your mismatched equiptment and the type of monster set you are wearing.
I agree that this needs to happen. If ZOS wants to make any modified item bound then that is fine but we shouldn't struggle with RNG after spending months researching traits. Worse yet, there will be more BoP sets than BoE sets for the first time in ESO. Good luck finding that item with the correct trait.
TBH i dont think zos thinks about this as much as they should, for me they bring out cool motifs yet im stuck with old styles as my gear is yellow so i miss the opertunity of the new styles. All we need is a way to change the look to a difrent style - could be done that u need 10 of that crafting style mat to make one bit that style.
Trait change maybe make it cost x amount of gold for a random nee trait
No to re-trait : it would be just too easy... it's part of the game to well-think your sets before crafting/improving them. The fact we can re-enchant them is already way enough.
And to be more specific about traits of non-craftable items : it would be better if the rate of training/prosperous traits was not that high. I don't know if they are actually equal to the other ones but I have the feeling they are way higher... unless I'm really unlucky.
Re-style would be amazing. ZOS could add an "Appearance Change Stone" that changes your equipment style for a new one based on an equipent of the same type you provide, for example:
I want to change my Lightning Staff appearance to Nord style, so the stone could ask for the item being changed and an item (another lightning staff) needed to extract the style. Then the style gets changed and the extracted item gets destroyed.
No re-trait tho.

Bah, just learning how to use the forums. Anyways I voted other. In a way I'd like to see both, but should be just as difficult if not harder to change traits and or appearance.
The items you would like to change are "magical in nature" otherwise we would be wearing just a piece of metal, leather or cloth. So, just as it takes a hidden crafting station to create many pieces, it should take something similar to change them. Now I'm under the assumption that zos will keep useless traits on items to keep people coming back to the dungeons, or the content will die out. So I understand that being able to just change a trait shouldn't happen unless you have something challenging in its place. So here is my suggestion...
1. Fighters, mages and thieves guild repeatable questline. So I have a piece of heavy armor that I want changed, I run over to the fighters guild and pickup quest.
2. They send me back to the dungeon where I have to grab x artifact. Or maybe I have to steal it (thieves) or decipher it (mage).
3. Now they tell me that the forge lies in (insert new dungeon name here) and that only a master crafter has the knowledge to modify the properties lying in the equipment.
4. So I take my team and battle my way through x dungeon until I reach the crafting station. Once I get it fired up, I can bind the artifact to the armor piece, and start the process. I start by going to the improvement window, where I can pick my new trait and or style (or something entirely different), and hit the synergy button. The master crafter who is standing right next to me(hopefully) hits their synergy button and viola! You can now equip your old but improved piece of armor. Or if you prefer, you can grind the same dungeon over and over and hope.
This method would serve many purposes. It keeps the old dungeons relevant. It allows for a DLC (think about it zos $$$), it gives crafters a new purpose (and might be profitable), it keeps the social part of the game going(must have two to craft the item unless your a crafter yourself, then your synergy would craft the item without outside support, but good luck getting there by yourself).
You could also put a questline in for crafters to obtain the synergy skill. (level 50 in all crafts gives you "crafting insight synergy").
You could have guilds compete for an npc that allows individuals in your guild to advertise services I.e. Craft for x gold, tank dungeon for x gold so on and on...
You could require the use of old mats (cp1-150 is almost pointless now).
You could make the 3rd and 4th group members fight off mobs, protecting you while you make the item.
You could have several different new dungeons (one for each trait), and slowly add a few at a time (sharpened and impenetrable and prosperous).
You could have pvp items only accessible in cyrodiil where it could be a contested forge. Or mix it up and put pve in pvp zones and vise versa lol. That'd tick people off for sure.
You could put in "ancient darkelf weaver or ancient nord blacksmith or ancient bosmer woodworker" from the crownstore to synergize with you if you can't get someone with the skill to go with (buy a scroll of summons for 750 crowns, one time use or 5k for another follower) again $$$$$!!!
There are a ton of other ideas you can do with this and sorry it was so long, and I expect some hate for even mentioning crown store, but I believe in capitalism.
Also, in regards to my #2, since you have the dungeons, why not make that a solo portion (special instance of dungeon) to get the artifact, making you "worthy" of being able to wield it. Could have (person x) from fighters mage or thieves guild come help by tanking healing or dps for you for a small fee (or a new mercenary guild). Or opt out of the help all together for an x dungeon leader board chance.
Oh and add crafting section to group que for crafters to find group and chance at crafting reward, add difficulty based on the station you want to use (sharpened should be considerably harder to get to than training, and divines much more so than prosperous).
And crafters questline offers drop sets that you must obtain in order to use your synergy, which can rarely drop from repeatable quests already in game, or from a new instance of cold harbor (I'm thinking world boss level stuff).
Re-style: hell yes!
Re-trait: maybe, but it would need very special restrictions making it pretty hard
All in all, crafters definately need to be buffed, nearly all crafted sets are obsolete now, so why bother researching traits and getting motifs at all? Please add restyling and some decent high-trait sets!
No if it is for crowns , it would be Pay to Win, plus i'm feeling robbed anyway with soooooo many crown change possibilities and nothing to spend in-game gold.
Yes but with lots of conditions and investment; master crafter, rare material not to be found in the crown store, and possibly not for every item that has a trait. So selected items only, like crafted gear and BoP gear but not BoE. I haven't really thought that through but I don't think it should be without conditions and investment.
Re-traiting and re-styling is really two completely different things, and it doens't make much sense to make a poll with both of them slapped together.
One is a purely cosmetic change, the other is a gamechanger.
98 % of the voters want motif changing. I'd say this is as overwhelming a poll as any.
There's no need to make this overly complicated. Require someone to be able to change the motif on any item in the game, as long as these conditions are fulfilled:
a) You must have the motif learned for the item you want to change it into (i.e. you must know Akaviri gloves if you want to change your gloves into Akaviri style)
b) It will cost 1 style stone for the motif you want to change it into (i.e. it will cost 1 daedra heart to change 1 item into the daedric look)
Would be awesome if crafters were somehow able to change styles on people's items, with the same 2 conditions I described above, but I'll be plenty happy if you're only able to change your own items.
Restyle would be a dream. I would actally bother to learn motifs again
Retrait would be amazing but at a cost. Maybe even make maelstrom potentially drop a 'retrait' stone that is needed to retrait a weapon. Poor maelstrom farmers get awful traits most of the time. Not to mention they don't get anything they can sell out of it.
Voted yes. Maybe it binds the armor to the crafter afterwards? This makes crafting skills much more useful, even of crafted sets drop in power compared to non-crafted sets.
Men are but flesh and blood. They know their doom, but not the hour.
^ My vote takes into consideration those who purposely grind shouldn't complain as they're too busy trying to get the best stuff in the game from a system wholly designed to take advantage of the insatiable need to have it. Carrot, anyone?
At some point, this gear will eventually become easily accessible, so trading styles won't be an issue. Just be patient until more people acquire the rare drops.
I've never been a fan of trait-based gear in games, and personally, I wish traits were removed. Since they're here, though, instead of being allowed to swap out traits, the better solution is for ZOS to drop armor with a trait slot, so that when bound, the player can then select a trait they want to add, provided they actually spent the time to hone their crafting skills.
But this isn't the system ZOS wants you to play. Instead, you're going to grind incessantly because you can't help yourself (Luke Smith at Bungie was 100% right, regardless what you feel) wanting the best stuff.
Funny how it all becomes pointless the second ZOS releases another level cap and more gear.
As much as it pains me, I am not for the re-trait on gear... but I would LOVE to restyle my dropped gear. I would change that vMA staff the second this became a feature. I'm tired of carrying around the same damn stick everyone else is.

I'm all for re-style, but changing traits should not be an option.
PAWS (Positively Against Wrip-off Stuff) - Say No to Crown Crates!. Outfit slots not being accountwide is ridiculous given their price. PC EU/PC NA roleplayer and solo PvE quester
Restyling via crafting skills would be great way to add "transmog" into ESO.
Not sure if re-traiting would be a good idea as many raids are made just to get a few items people want... but on the other hand, making a thousand runs to MoL just to get a pair of boots shouldn't be what the late game is about. Maybe if you put some high requirements for it, eg. corresponding crafting lvl 50, all traits unlocked and downgrades item quality to white... could also use the research perks that become obsolate after researching all traits.
The re-styling should offer some solution to BoP items. A client can't currently send BoP items to crafter. Same problem exist with improving bound items. A crafter can improve BoE sets. But when a client puts it on it gets bound.

Re-Style is great
Re-Trait is also great beacuse of ESOs RNG system is SUCKS...(pls no offence cuz it is true)112 RUNS of MSA and i have only one item i use others are all bad TRAITS)
And after u crafted or re_trait ur gear it all about how good player u are and how good you crate your gear...It is very good to gives players this option to crate their play style...
Yes to Re-style, dunno about re-trait. But I have a bad feeling that if they do ever implement style motif change, it will be ESO Plus only. Please don't do that ZOS.
I'd suggest that you only can re-style an item if you know both styles; the one the item has and the one you want to change it into. This would keep unique styles like undaunted helmets actually unique and discernable. I also wouldn't mind if it costed some materials as long as it's not involved with the crown store.
Sadly they already said they have no plans for this.
