Is using the downscale of a level 20-30 guy and helping him to complete Maw of Lorkhaj and receiving a motif of Dro'MAtra considered as "okay" for ZoS or is it considered as exploiting?
Saw a guy in zone chat today who claimed it is NOT ok but i haven't read at thign about this in the forums.
So can u verify please.

It's not exactly sporting, but because of the way that level scaling goes, its technically "within the scope of the rules"

I personally wouldn't do it because it cheapens the entire experience, but I don't see you getting in trouble for it. As long as they allow it to scale to that level, then its working as intended.

They really should only give the motif to cp160 runs tho

Don't know what rule you could possibly be breaking. Some people will claim things are against the rules simply because they don't agree with it. It would be nice if they would sticky a post that would clarify these things when they come up.

The unknown seems to be the theme with this game. They very rarely clarify whether anything like this is OK or not.
I personally think if they do not come out and say something is not ok then they should not take disciplinary against people for them leaving exploits glitches or just plain unintended features.

BTW I am NOT saying this is or isn't against the rules. Or whether or not this is a glitch or exploit, although in my opinion it is not.

It's only available till One comes out, so I doubt they are even worried about it currently. At least I think that's why they have been avoiding this question since people began asking when SoTH dropped and everyone started running babyMoL runs for the motifs.

At least right now on PTS... Everything is 160, doesn't matter what level you are. You enter a dungeon alone at lvl 10 the enemies will all be 160(even though the level doesn't show, you can see it via certain addons). We scale up everywhere as needed, nothing scales down. At least from what I have seen.

There will be no more baby runs, no more cheesing, no more [insert preferred term for down scaling here]...

Would you rather motif prices at 200k each?

Yes actually, having something that you actually have to work for gives it value. Making it be able to be dumbed down so anyone can get it cheapens it completely.

Why not just give it to everyone then, for the good of the community.

Its a feature and working exactly as intended.
Trial scales to group leader's level and so does other dungeons and you have the same quest across all levels

It's fairly common that new motifs and other items often come with some sort of "exploit" at the start, and first when we get an outrage on the forums about it, ZOS decides to change it.

Dro-M'athra motif lays behind a DLC wall where many players can not access it. If they only allowed cp160 scale or veteran scale to obtain the motif, it would become extremely rare - as you can only farm it 1 time per week per character.

To be honest I think it would be silly if they removed low levels the option to obtain these motifs, unless they handed them fragments of it or some other motif. Many low levels are also costumers and have payed for the DLC, and should be able to obtain those motif fragments as they do with all other DLC motifs.

Some people have a low level player start the group then after everybody is in they drop and come back with a high level character so they can run through with no risk at all.

I would like to see any content that drops rewards only drop for people within five levels of the lowest character doing the run. I suppose you could do it within five levels of the group crown. But as someone said earlier soon it will not matter anyway.

Yes I know, and that will lead to a nightmare to get those motifs in the future unless they overnerf nMOL. You can only farm it once per week per character :/

Of course its ok, we downscale dungeons all the time. Why would anyone think it's not ok?

All this might go away with one Tamriel, the entire game is 160, I have not tried to do go into dungeons with lowbies on the test center to see for sure, but I gota feeling.

The motif from the weekly box can't really be considered an exploit. You get a box upon completion. There have never been any restrictions on how you obtain that box as long as you don't break any rules and downscaling is perfectly legit.

However, the other gear that comes in that box that scales up to your level is the part I'd be concerned about if the banhammer comes around swinging.

While I personally have no issue with this, I've been staying away from downscaled runs based on the upscaled gear that comes in the weekly box and not the motif drop.

You can't even start the game lower than level 3 I think. If you skip the tutorial, you auto level to 3 and if you do the tutorial, you come out on the other side as level.... 3

I'm not sure you can go level 1, but if you could, I may actually shine for once.

Selling it outright is their choice, if they sold it at a lower price because you were a lower level or something, then yeah sure.

Its not like babymaw runs were with all level 10s, which woukd be awesome, its 1 lowbie with 11 max, a lot of times with a full 12man 500+ cp.

Re: Lowest level of scaling... The lowest any scalable instance goes down to is 10. Dungeons, trials, Maelstrom, DSA, etc. Yes, you can go do normal Maelstrom with a level 3 character--and all the enemies will be 7 levels above you (been there, done that, got the t-shirt... you'll almost be at level 10 at the end of the run if you start nMA at level 3).

Re: Coffers... The reward coffers have always worked like this, where the loot scales off of the level of your character at the moment you first open the coffer. Many of the coffers in this game even explicitly state this in their tooltip.

And, again, all this hand-wringing will be moot in about a month, as everything on the PTS is locked at CR160 and the only scaling that happens is to the character, never to the opponents. No more downscaling of anything.

Yes, way way down. People who purchase things in game with gold at least had to do something in game to get the motif.
