People are just jelly that the German community is so very well taken care of.
If anything we should be grateful that you popped up here at all, I doubt it's your responsibility.

Now that I am back in Europe, it makes sense to inform the English speaking community, too, while Jess and Gina are still asleep. I'll make sure to keep you updated in the future.

And while the EN Community Managers still enjoy their well earned sleep, our technician are now awake and are trying to fix this.

I did notice that even when all are available the German forum is usually the first that gets information. It might be an idea to implement a procedure that lets all forums be provided of info at same time;)

Did ever somebody think about that, that ZOS informs german forums earlier, because we are the nicier people :O
U know? We provide food, good mornings and sweets, when Kai shows up!

    "impatient kids " ?
Guess you mean legitly unsatisfied paying costumers.

Don't take it as an insult  It's just the first phrase that comes to mind when I see how people react.. I can understand the frustration well enough, and I am a paying customer myself that have poured way too much cash into the game hehe.. But at the same time I can take a step back and see that not everything can be handled immediatly.. In this case the server had a malfunction while people were asleep.. The alarm raised the technicians that started working asap.. Later, a forum poster was made aware of the notice and he then proceeded to make a post for us.. That works for me, since I don't, and never will, expect that they pull someone out of bed just to give us that information

The impatience kids things is the typical strawman argument. At this point its laughable at what lengths white knights will go to try and justify how a game thats been out this long, is so riddled with unending breakdowns at the very core of it.

I would not see myself as a white knight in any way  I have my list of stuff that I don't like, just as everyone else.. I just don't see a need to express negativity on a forum.. There's enough of that to last for a lifetime already  Instead I like to try and spread some calm and understanding instead, since that seems to be what we are in short supply of

Then you have other expectations from stuff you pay for then me,
they dont have to get out of bed if they have more teams spread over several time zones,
its a worldwide game, and if they dont have those extra teams then i ACTUALLY expect them to get out of bed asap,
inform the comunity and fix things,
and if they are having a hard time they can complain to the ones above them that make the big money and tell them to get more employees,
it is still no reason to have less expectations for something i paid for,
ZoS is responsible for the game not us.

We probably do have different expectations then  I can't recall when or why, but they had to lay off some staff for one reason or another.. Some forum guys expected it had something to do with the game going B2P, but I don't know  Sounds plausible though.. If ZOS have made less than expected, it's reasonable to lay off some guys.. That could explain that we don't have world coverage 24/7.. It would also cost a lot more to pay people to sit in the US and be awake and work in our waking hours.. Asked Gamersfirst once, and they said that this would usually be an expense that was not worth it for most games

Almost sounds like it's the fault of "some" players...
Way to twist their words -_-........
Then they should be more careful how they word things.

Can anyone access the EU servers? Are there people who have managed to log in and are happily playing the game while "some players" cannot?

It's not an issue that some players are having, it's an issue with the EU server.
Unless you know for a fact that EVERYONE has the problem, it is what they say in the banner.. Some people might be able to log in.. Personally I got to the character screen earlier, instead of being stopped at the login
It is not an issue that I have, I haven't done anything wrong/differently.

It's an issue that they have.
Yes it probably is, but the banner speaks truth anyway.. Some players, you included, have trouble logging in.. No where has it been hinted, unless you really want it to be, that it's the players' fault
The implication of "some players" is that some players aren't having any problems.

I don't believe that, particularly as this is a problem across all platforms...

In any case, language, and the way you use it, is powerful. "Some players" having difficulties implies that these players are doing something wrong because other players don't have any problems.

Who has the issue? "Some players"? Or the server?

By saying that I have an issue with not being able to log in the problem is reflected onto me. That's not the case. The server has an issue with not being able to log me in.
They have to say "some players" because they have no way of proving that it affects all players until they actually know what the problem is. The players are certainly the ones having the issue, but there's no implication at all that the issue is their fault. The players are having an issue logging in because there is something wrong with the connection to the server.
imo its not hat hard to see if there players online on the server,
if they even cant check that then we really have a problem.
Proving that players are logged in does not prove that all players cannot log in, as they may have logged in before the issue started. Conversely, if they see that even one player has logged in since the issue started, that alone proves that it does not affect all players, meaning that "some players" is still the correct wording.

Actually, there are some players left on the server - only a fraction of the usual population but still.
But no matter how many (or few) players are having issues to connect to the European megaservers, nobody is blaming them.

It's just a question of language and perception.

The ownership of the issue is not the players who can't log on, it's the system not letting them on. There can easily be occasions when it's the problem of some of the players (their ISP, OS, computer set up, etc.) but I don't believe that this is one of them.

Words are important, as can be seen by the fact that people are happier now just because you have acknowledged the problem.

    Good point,didnt think of that.
But i also edited the comment cause after i posted it i saw a post of Kai saying that there are some people online on the server so my statement about them not being able to see if people are online was invalid.

Not only are people upset because they haven't had an announcement, but the moment they get one they pick holes in it and analyse every syllable rather than saying thanks for the update. There really is no pleasing some people.

I wasn't going to, but since you asked :)

He said there were some players "left" on the server, implying they were already logged on before the problem arose.

Nobody knows if they would be among the "some players" who couldn't log in if they were foolish enough to log out and try... regardless, they are "some people who were logged in when the problem occurred" not "some people who could log in after the problem occurred". As such they do not demonstrate that it's only "some people" who can't log in now.

I wasn't going to be so pedantic because English is not Kai's natural language, but his comment did not address the ability of people to log in.

There are, for sure, people here who overreact, as well as people whose (uncalled for) practice of apologism just goes way too far.

Let me rephrase the OP, in case someone views his words as too extreme:

I pay for a product. As for me, even as a subscription service. I may or may not like what the product actually is like (as opposed to what I thought it was, or what was promised), it doesn't matter. It may not work all the time (maintenance and other downtimes), it doesn't matter. After all, I don't have to use it (or pay for it) if I don't like it, or it is not up to par with current technology.

But: It's absolutely unacceptable for me when I have the feeling of not being taken seriously as a customer. This is slowly getting the case here. This is not a mom and pop store - it's a multi million company in a multi billion industry. I can expect that a company like that is not relying on customers to tell them that their product is unavailable. I can expect that when they eventually do, which was the case over four (!) hours ago, that some representive is telling me that they are aware of the problem, NOT two hours after that by someone who is probably not even responsible for doing so (thanks, Kai, anyway!). If this is not the case, at least for me it's obvious that me as a customer is not taken seriously, or not valued. And that, dear Zenimax, is extremely bad practice.

I'm not raging btw. I wouldn't even have written something if there were not some people on here who are obviously too ignorant to understand why people are upset.

I'm not blaming anyone for strange decisions regarding the future of the game (BoP, e.g.). I'm not blaming anyone for DDOS attacks, faulty hardware, bad pings, major outages, non-available monitoring, whatever (I could do so however, because professionals ... ah well). I'm not even blaming them for the ridiculous maintenance times. But I'm really blaming them for their total lack of professional, honest, timely communication which really is not too hard a thing to do.

Kai, it's been 5 hours since the problem was apparent (going by the start of forum posts). Can you share what the outcome of the 5 hours of investigation has revealed please?
