@Daemons_Bane you are one of those technicians, arent you?
stop defend completely unacceptable service, or you will look stupid before all community

Trust me, if I worked at ZOS I would not be allowed to post at all.. The amount of stuff that I would yell at immature and impatient kids would get me banned from the forum for life..

The change to tbe banner doesn't look good...

"We are currently investigating issues some players are having regarding logging into the European megaservers."

Almost sounds like it's the fault of "some" players...

Way to twist their words -_-........

Then they should be more careful how they word things.

Can anyone access the EU servers? Are there people who have managed to log in and are happily playing the game while "some players" cannot?

It's not an issue that some players are having, it's an issue with the EU server.

Unless you know for a fact that EVERYONE has the problem, it is what they say in the banner.. Some people might be able to log in.. Personally I got to the character screen earlier, instead of being stopped at the login

It is not an issue that I have, I haven't done anything wrong/differently.

It's an issue that they have.

Yes it probably is, but the banner speaks truth anyway.. Some players, you included, have trouble logging in.. No where has it been hinted, unless you really want it to be, that it's the players' fault

The implication of "some players" is that some players aren't having any problems.

I don't believe that, particularly as this is a problem across all platforms...

In any case, language, and the way you use it, is powerful. "Some players" having difficulties implies that these players are doing something wrong because other players don't have any problems.

Who has the issue? "Some players"? Or the server?

By saying that I have an issue with not being able to log in the problem is reflected onto me. That's not the case. The server has an issue with not being able to log me in.

I think there is no need to debate this any further.. You seem too set in your ways

Servers are in Frankfurt Germany ?. Guess I'm getting the Taxi route every time then.
My ping never goes below 70, usually around 80, and I live in Denmark.
Playing other online games on EU servers I rarely get more than ping 40 :(

That would be true for things that NEED that.. There's no reason for a GAME to have 24/7 staff

Yes there is though: When as a company you sell a service or product to a worldwide market, you have to provide support for any market that you make your product or service available in. It isn't really rocket science.....don't sell something to someone and then let them only access support during the middle of their night, it has to be at a convenient time for the consumer. That's just business 101 ;)

As much as I hate some of the entitlement displayed in this thread, and while I agree that a game is not a medical service or anything vital, I have to agree that a company that provides a service to the whole world MUST organize some customer support and maintenance services 24/7, and not rely on ONE time zone on earth, excluding the 2 thirds of the world.

People are just jelly that the German community is so very well taken care of.
If anything we should be grateful that you popped up here at all, I doubt it's your responsibility.

Now that I am back in Europe, it makes sense to inform the English speaking community, too, while Jess and Gina are still asleep. I'll make sure to keep you updated in the future.

And while the EN Community Managers still enjoy their well earned sleep, our technician are now awake and are trying to fix this.

I did notice that even when all are available the German forum is usually the first that gets information. It might be an idea to implement a procedure that lets all forums be provided of info at same time;)

anyways; thanx 4 always being as fast as you can with info; it really helps, even if its only a 'we are aware of situation and currently investigating' Providing no communication whatsoever for several hours (or as in one occasion even days) is what customers make feel theyre ignored even if everyone in the company is working their... off to resolve the issue

you mean they actually have time to sleep? I thought half the people on here expect them to be running around like little forum maidens checking that everyone has everything they need.

Seriously, don't fret it, some people need to maybe see more daylight and get some fresh air

Um, you know when you provide a 24h service for people round the world, you have to have people working 24/7 right?
It's quite normal to have morning shifts, afternoon shifts and night shifts.

How do you think like everything in the world works? ^^

For Essential Departments yes there is indeed shifts. But Forum Mod is WAYYYYYY below the priority list.

The implication of "some players" is that some players aren't having any problems.

I don't believe that, particularly as this is a problem across all platforms...

In any case, language, and the way you use it, is powerful. "Some players" having difficulties implies that these players are doing something wrong because other players don't have any problems.

Actually, there are some players left on the server - only a fraction of the usual population but still.
But no matter how many (or few) players are having issues to connect to the European megaservers, nobody is blaming them.

Well, it all depends where your "indie game" was made. Some countries have far lower wages than others (thus it's not very expensive to pay more people for on-call availability) or have little to no laws to protect employees (thus it's easy to make people available for on-call services). Germany happens to be one of the countries with the highest wages and the strictest laws on earth. That's good for the employees but makes companies less flexible when it comes to providing quick, 24/7 services, because it's so damn expensive.

They have to say "some players" because they have no way of proving that it affects all players until they actually know what the problem is. The players are certainly the ones having the issue, but there's no implication at all that the issue is their fault. The players are having an issue logging in because there is something wrong with the connection to the server.

Hi @ZOS_KaiSchober and thanks for the updates, but...

...should we understand that you are the sole and only one community manager located in Europe?
Yes he is, and until a couple of weeks ago there were none, as Kai was previously based in Maryland with the rest of ZOS. That doesn't mean that ZOS have no other community team in Europe at all, though.

I think that's because they have been online since the login server was still operational.
When I used to run a game server, this happened from time to time, all I needed to do was restart the login server, but then again I didn't care about the root of the problem, so no investigation needed ^-^

I think that's because they have been online since the login server was still operational.
When I used to run a game server, this happened from time to time, all I needed to do was restart the login server, but then again I didn't care about the root of the problem, so no investigation needed ^-^

i was on line and kick off so that is not the reason thy are still on!

Who has the issue? "Some players"? Or the server?

By saying that I have an issue with not being able to log in the problem is reflected onto me. That's not the case. The server has an issue with not being able to log me in.
They have to say "some players" because they have no way of proving that it affects all players until they actually know what the problem is. The players are certainly the ones having the issue, but there's no implication at all that the issue is their fault. The players are having an issue logging in because there is something wrong with the connection to the server.

imo its not hat hard to see if there players online on the server,
if they even cant check that then we really have a problem.

Edit: just noticed kai posting "Actually, there are some players left on the server - only a fraction of the usual population but still.
But no matter how many (or few) players are having issues to connect to the European megaservers, nobody is blaming them.
    "

So at least we know something more now

    Thanks for the info, Kai.
I hope the players in there are nice and honest, and won't jump onto all the unbid traders... else we're looking towards a miserable trading week :-(

It all looks like a global internet issues or a DDOS attack. The few players left use an "unusual" route to the megaservers, while most of us use the usual hubs which must be down for some reason...
