This is the official feedback thread for the lifting of alliance restrictions in One Tamriel. Specific feedback that the team is looking for includes the following:
  • Were you able to perform various social actions with players of different alliances? This could include:
    • Teleporting to another player
    • Trading
    • Dueling
    • Talking
    • Sending mail
    • Performing the Ritual of Mara
  • Were you able to travel to other alliance zones successfully?
  • Did you run into any issues getting dailies in other alliances?
  • Did you encounter anything unexpected, or see any odd NPC behavior related to your alliance?
  • Do you have any other general feedback?

Travelled between and within the Alliance zones using the Navigator NPCs; that seems to work quite well. I couldn't work out for a minute which zones within the same alliance the Navigator offers travel to; I think I sussed that it is the "previous" and "next" zones in story order, but it was confusing to start with to see that there were only two zone choices rather than four.

Similarly, there could be a bit of confusion over the Navigator's options for the other alliances; the tooltip on the map says "Alliance Capitols" (incidentally - "capitol" refers to a legislative building; you want "capital, meaning legislative city), but rather than taking you to the Alliance Capitals, the available options are the same-tier zones of the other alliances.

Possibly odd NPC behaviour - I couldn't find the NPC Hilan in the Davon's Watch Fighters Guild as a new (Lvl 3) DC character. This NPC should offer the FG recruiter quest Hilan's Invitation.

I would suggest to keep the rank insignia outside of Cyrodiil in a neutral color.

Disappointed to see that there is absolutely no explanation given for why we are able to travel to other alliance territories and quest in each one without being recognised in the others as a Champion of one alliance. On its own, this wouldn't be an issue, but that now directly conflicts with the explanation given in Cadwell's Silver, which remains completely unchanged, and also conflicts with Messages Across Tamriel, where you are introduced to the other alliance leaders for the first time as the champion of your alliance, and met with distrust by those leaders whom you may have already been helping.

On that note, we were specifically told that “Silver" and “gold" versions of zones will be replaced by Cadwell quest storylines that you can do in any order you wish. This is not true. Cadwell's Silver and Gold have not been replaced, and you cannot do them in any order you wish; you still have to complete the Main Quest before you are given Silver, and you still have to complete Silver before you get Gold.

If we were able to do them "in any order you wish", they would both be given at the same time. If the story is to make sense, even if the Cadwell quests themselves do not unlock until later, the reasoning needs to be given as soon as you can enter the other alliance territories, which is now right at the beginning of the game.

Finally, on a parallel line, when you accept Cadwell's quests you are still ported to the new alliance's Tier 1 city, rather than their Starter Island. Now that the Tutorial once again drops you on the Starter Island, Cadwell's quests need to as well, so that players who are following through in story order are able to start the Alliance Story from the beginning. This is more important now than it was when the Starter Islands were first re-added as the drop point in the last update, since the original starter quest givers (Mihayya in Daggerfall, Riurik in Davon's Watch, and Captain Tremouille in Vulkhel Guard) have been removed.

Excellent points. The story-line/immersion issue has a separate thread for players and dev comments. I will copy your stuff there for players who don't come to the PTS forum. I started a new character just to see what had/hadn't been added or removed, thanks for the additional specific details.

Regarding "travelling to other alliances", something that cropped up in another thread is that it is not clear how you do this, as the new Navigator NPCs are not promoted, and Wayshrines are not unlocked for existing characters. This could be addressed with a pop-up box you see on first logging in to an existing character:

    Welcome to One Tamriel!
Alliance restrictions have been lifted, and you are now able to travel to any zone in Tamriel!

This update opens up the world of Tamriel for you to explore any time, and play with your friends no matter what level you are. To travel to other zones, speak to the new Navigator NPCs, located in the main city of each zone. Navigators can be identified on city maps with the following icons: 20px-ON-icon-Caravan.png20px-ON-mapicon-Dock.png

Bug: (160909-001921) There is an erroneous marker for the Dominion Navigator Selandilwen at Fisherman's Isle near Haven (next to Scout Linimondil's marker). Selandilwen is not located there (as her Grahtwood location is in Elden Root).

Bug: (160909-001972) There's no map marker for the Cart to Belkarth, either in Elden Root, Wayrest, or Mournhold.
