It would seem a bit strange if every time I join a group I announce "oh hi everyone, I'm a guy. Just thought you should know that."
It would be weird.
But yesterday was the 5th time in 6 months I've had to deal with someone who somehow developed a crush on my toon and somehow for some reason thinks they are interested in knowing more about my real life, who they assume is a girl.
I see the humor in it but also feel sorry for the guys. Here they are at home probably [CENSOR] to a cartoon character but if I tell them I'm a bald 46 year old 240 pound man at that point in time it turns into a scene from the crying game. Suddenly the tables are turned and they think I've been grooming them for a gay harm or something.
Dudes, I'm just grinding content and you wanted to group ...
Maybe I should tell them when they see me online and are all eager to invite me to their activity every day, but at that point I'm just thinking they're being cool.
By the time they gather the courage to give a signal like invite me to join their twitch or Facebook it's already too late. God only knows what they are thinking at that point.
The whole thing is amazing to me. Obviously people don't play lizards because they are looking for partners irl who are attracted to lizards or because that's how they look in real life. No one has to say "oh by the way I'm not a kitty cat in real life". I just assume people are living out a fantasy that has no connection to real life. I assume no one is really an assassin ...
What do you think? When should men with female toons tell people they arent really female, or should they even have to?
