Why does the alchemy crafting writ only want nirnroot

Is this a bug or is this intended?
Every single crafting writ every day for alchemy wants nirnroot only

It seems only the top tier writs want Nirnroot (but I have not done a low level alchemy writ in a while but those asked for a mix of reagents when I did them) Although, it really is about 30% to 50% of the time they call for Nirn, the rest, they want Cloud Mist or Lorkhan's Tears.

Since I do these on multiple alts, I just parked an Alt in an area that has a decent supply of Nirn Nodes and log into him at least once a day. The others grab the nirns they see as they go around. This keeps me ahead of the Nirn Curve.

I do wish there were more reagents being asked for, but if I ever got one asking for Columbine (or other Tri-Pot Health reagents), I would abandon it.

3 out of 4 of the Orsinium Writs want Nirnroot and it does suck for sure. I've mentioned this, long time ago in fact, but still how it is.

Yeah, very good point. I kind of wish there was more variety, but I definitely don't want columbine to be part of that variety hahaha

Agree with this; there are enough common 'junk' reagents (especially now) that some variety would be nice.

I'd much rather it be Nirnroot than Corn Flower. Don't change a thing, as Nirnroot is actually very easy to farm since every node that can spawn Nirnroot will always spawn Nirnroot.

No it won't. Nirnroot and Water Hyacinth share the same node, and I find the latter more often than the former. Also it doesn't HAVE to be Corn Flower. Could be something else... Honestly though I have no beef with Nirnroot being a requirement, but being required for all but one of the 4 Writs... THAT can change for sure.

Then you need to pay closer attention. I've farmed that place more times than I can count. Nirnroot nodes are always Nirnroot. Hyacinth nodes are always Hyacinth.

I paid plenty close attention and I know what I saw. Water Hyacinth spawned where I picked Nirnroot at.

Anyway, we can go back and forth about it all we want but it's just going off topic. Still would not hurt if Nirnroot was less involved in the Writs.

There's, like, almost 3 dozen different reagents. Nirnroot is in 3 of the 4 different Writs for Orsinium. Changing 1 or 2 of those to something else isn't guaranteed to make it something people use the most you know.

As someone who doesn't have the crafting bag I like the fact it's always nirnroot. I keep nirnroot and a stack of each of the different potions the writs ask for on me so I can just pick up the writ and go hand it in without having to mess about going to the bank. If different reagents were asked for it would either mean I have to use up more of my bag space just for alchemy writs or it'd take me longer as I'd need to go to the bank to get out what was needed. I do use more nirnroot than I pick up through general play but I've found a good spot to collect it and 5 minutes every 2 to 3 weeks covers the shortfall

You really need to go back and look more carefully. There are several spots where Hyacinth and Nirnroot nodes are in close proximity to each other. But they are always the same.

Of the "old" alchemical mats, Hyacinth and Nirnroot are the easiest to get if you are farming for a specific mat. This is because their spawns are both predictable (always near water) and stable (Nirnroot nodes are always Nirnroot, and Hyacinth nodes are always Hyacinth, with absolutely zero RNG involved). In contrast, getting the other alchemical mats is subject to much more luck.

Of these two easy-to-farm mats, Nirnroot has the least amount of usefulness outside of writs. Its main use is in cheap single-effect invisibility potions (it cannot be used for the more expensive multi-effect ones because it has so many negative effects). In contrast, Hyacinth has many more uses--it's required for spell power and crit potions and can be used instead of Wormwood for weapon power and crit potions.

Furthermore, all the other plant mats are quite valuable in actual potion-making. Actually, the lower-tier writs need to be changed to use Nirnroot instead of the far more valuable stuff like Corn Flower. Yes, the mushrooms are still pretty useless, but they are difficult to find consistently and to farm.

Unless you want to consider the "new" mats (e.g., Fleshfly Larva, Spider Eggs, etc.), Nirnroot is by far the best mat to use for writs. It has a good combination of farmability and relative uselessness. Now, I wouldn't mind one of the abundant "new" mats like Spider Eggs being used--but it's much more likely that they'll use one of the old node-harvestable "old" mats.

TL;DR: Stop trying to break what is working perfectly fine.

You can't break writs by changing one requirement. Don't be so silly
