Why do Master Weapons have such a terrible charge?

I have to recharge my master weapons every time I do a dungeon; whereas I can farm VDSA 4 times in a row, and maybe have to recharge my maelstrom once. Why is the charge on master weapons so terrible?

I believe this bug has been around since vDSA was first released. I recall it's related to the Master weapons consuming an enchantment charge on every hit/heal, regardless of whether the enchant actually fires. This means they consume soul gems at an astonishing rate.

Not a lot that can be done about it, other than to carry a lot of soul gems!

How I see people that complains that their Maelstorm weapons charge deplete too fast.

Why does my engine guardian NPC chase other NPCs or players instead of following me to give me stats? It's the same reason Master Weapons were brought back with bad old bugs and enchants.

I believe its intended because Mael weapons are the only ones that actually have a passive bonus. So it does makes sense that its deplete faster.

    They've always been terrible.

But here's a little secret: You never need to charge the Master's resto, because the enchantment works even when fully depleted (haven't tested the other weapons, though).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been told/seen somewhere that Master's weapons enchants still apply even with an empty charge? So per my understanding you don't actually have to recharge them.

As a side note, I noticed that when dual wielding a Maelstrom Axe/Master Dagger, the Master Dagger will deplete from 100% to 0% in the time it takes the Maelstrom Axe to deplete from 100% to 50%.

Master weapons drain twice as fast as normal enchants :/

    That's what I've noticed.

Not even taking into account how WEAK the Dagger/Greatsword/Destruction Staves are.

These godly weapons (Maelstrom + Master) shouldn't even use a charge in my opinion.

That is definitely correct for the Master's resto. I haven't tested the other Master weapons, though, in part because they're not as easy to test as the resto.

To test the resto, sprint or dodge roll to drain your stamina. Then block-cast Springs on yourself--the block is to prevent you from regenerating stamina naturally.

    Doing this test with...
    • Normal Master's Resto: stamina is restored with each cast
    • Depleted Master's Resto: stamina is restored with each cast
    • Non-Master's Resto: your stamina bar doesn't move a single pixel

Master Weapon have secondary effect that run 24/7 so that max stat increase what every it is, is applied to everything.

If it adds spell damage it's always there atrack or heal you're doing it with more spell damage. They also never need to be recharged the enchant will always work you can feed it gems if you're bored but that's like watering the lawn in the rain.

With so many grand soul gems dropping recently from random dungeons and other things there is really not a problem with charging :). They are even sold now in stores for less than a typical npc merchant would take, which looks ridiculous :).
But honestly I didn't realise yet that my master sword depletes charges faster than non-master one :).

There's an addon for this. If you are on PC

My wife complains that I never listen to her. (Or something like that.)

    My ESO addons:
Midnight - Find out when midnight is so that you can check for ww/vamp spawn.
Goto - Adds a tab to the map pane allowing you to teleport to a friend, guildmate, or groupmate for free.

If I recall correctly, Originally the Masted weapons did not lose their charge. When they made it so master weapons lost their charge they depleted fast.

The base stat added should remain even when the charge is depleted, max stam/magika/ health. The question is does the enchant oart remain?
