Serious Question......

Which platform would you say is better for the longevity of ESO? Playing this game on PS4 or PC? I have most research traits already on PS4 version but I want to get into playing this game on PC. I dont want to have 2 subscriptions. On the PS4 version I have most mounts and costumes and I am CP 470.

The PC version however has the awesome benefits of the PTS server and the Add Ons.......

What would you do? What should I do?

IMO no one can answer that.

We don't know the length of the game or the consoles so no idea.

I'd suggest looking at something else like comfort, performance or social aspects

isn't there a bigger social aspect on PC? I have a pretty nice Gaming laptop that can play this game. I like the fact that I can travel and still play it.

I would like to switch from PS4 to PC eventually. It is a shame I can't migrate anything. This will have to wait until I can afford a games capable PC which is not any time soon.

Consoles typically last 10 years. PS3 and Xbox lasted about 10 years until replaced by our current consoles. Because of moores law computers tend to get outdated more quickly. On average you can expect an average gaming computer to last 4 years unless youve built or bought your computer to only play one game. Even that can be sketchy because directx is always improving which requires graphic card upgrades. Also vendors like Intel are constantly releases new parts e.g. Motherboards, ram, and CPUs, that are not backwards compatible forcing you to pay $$$ to upgrade.

Bottom line is you'll get more longevity without the hassle of upgrades with a console.

But if your budget allows for it and you want the added features a pc offers I would go with the PC. I find that I cannot play a 1st/3rd person game on a console. I absolutely need mouse look to play.

As LecagyDM points out, the benefit of console is that the technology stays the same until the next console comes out. The reason I switched to console gaming over 20 years ago was due to the ever changing computer environment and the fact that within 3-6 months, some component of my PC was not up recommended specs for new games.

I know that PC development has slowed a nit during those 20 years but I have seen lots of threads here regarding 64 bit issues, video card requirements, etc., so for me console is the way forward for less hassle.

Looking at the way ESO is going I suspect it will be past its use by date long before the PS5 comes out.

Well just for comparison. If you bought a top of the line q series quad core or dual core Intel chip back in 2006/2007 it wouldn't hold a candle to the Intel chips today and would probably chug trying to play eso today...at least not at decent graphic settings. Just like a pentium 2 bought in the mid 90s became obsolete by mid 2000s by the quad core/dual core series. Remember, I said an average gaming cpu will last 4 years. Your laptop being top of the line will last longer but most likely will not be competitive in 10 years.

That will be fine in 10 years assuming you don't abuse it, and you might have to replace the gpu in 3 or 4 years. I bought an i7 980X over 6 years ago. I replaced the gpu 2 years ago with a gtx titan, replaced a failing psu and added a few ssds and it's still a beast. I will only replace it if it packs up or I need dx12. For gaming pcs the factor that will most likely obsolete your rig is direct x versions, but this is just a gpu issue.

Edit: just noticed that is a laptop, so you will have to replace it whenever you need dx12.

Except, of course, the XBone and PS4 are both slated to receive hardware updates in the next year or two. Given prior experience on PC, it's entirely possible that ESO will be updated to take advantage of those new console iterations, leaving the current consoles in the cold.
