That does *** me off the most, to be honest. I actually want some of the old mounts like the leopard and there's no way I'm buying RNG boxes to get it. If they put it up again I'll buy it. Never RNG boxes though.

I'm still really confused why people hate this idea so much. I won't buy any, but it really doesn't affect me and so you are leaving the game because the creators need to make money? You are probably the same people complaining that they need more customer service as well.

Sheesh, I pay $15 per month to this game, which keeps me more than entertained. I haven't bought a game in like a year, and I still have a bazillion things to do in ESO. It's much cheaper than $60 twice a month for the "Game of the Month."

I doubt I will buy any of these. If I do buy one, just to see how it works, it will be the only one I buy.

I stopped buying those armor containers in the game after just two, as the randomness of it is not something I enjoyed. And, that was spending pixel currency that did not cost me anything but time I was spending anyway.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

They should be offering incentives for people to sub. Instead of price gauging us for changing our appearance, they could have made that a perk of being a sub and make it free for us, if things like that were free because of subs, a lot more people would sub, the craft bag was a GREAT idea, we need more stuff like that. That right there got me to sub.

Even tho I think that all the hate towards this boxes is pretty shallow and stupid. I wouldn't buy anyone of them.

The hate is backed by prior experience with these mechanics in other titles. If I wanted to play a game with lockboxes, I'd log into STO.

I'm not sure if you are aware of it yet, they are cosmetic only you know? They don't affect the gameplay at all! Like none. It would be a predatory model if they add p2w itens, which is not the case.

Actually this is a predatory model in essence. They are trying to milk every penny from weak players, that instead buying at fixed price an item in the store, will spend much much more gambling.
Why not selling this things in the store? In their view there are addictive personalities playing their game, and they are trying to make a bigger revenue from them.

If they didn't think to increase their income with this move, they wouldn't have done it.

Besides, in my view, in the epic e mystical tamriel there is no place for this kind of boxes. It's lore breaking.

    Just my 2p

ALL marketing is predatory by nature - it is ALL meant to urge you to buy the product. This is no different than any other marketing. You think Old Navy target markets to make people want to buy their crap ass clothes? Granted, you get to SEE what you buy first, but the goal is the same - to make you spend your money.

YES! this. And then they could release the craft bag in the crown store.

I'm with the none people. I've bought a lot in SWTOR and rarely got what I was hoping for but then I got CC with my membership anyway. In ESO, just no. I love ESO. I have bought most of the stuff in the store but I will never buy a gambling box again.

    400 Crowns v_v
Mebe like 50 each and we talk my welfare status hittin hard!

Too much RNG to get exactly what l want.
Too much trash crown costumes to get.
Too much unusable pets in Cyrodiil.
Too much chance to get what I already have.

    50 crowns sounds best.

If you buy a certain amount of boxes and trade the items in for gems, couldn't you just buy the mount outright at a certain point? The question is what is that point and how many would you need to buy.

As I understood it, yes. But it seems that only repeated items will be converted to gems, not any unwanted item.
And there is still the chance to get only consumables, afaik, which are not converted to gems.

This is how I understand, but also take into account the items in the "gem store" will rotate through. We do not know how many items will be there in at a time, how often things will rotate etc.

In theory, it could turn out not completely terrible.. but there are a lot of unknowns at this point. We have no idea how many gems we can get if we own the item etc. As well, the "pool" of items in the loot bag could be quite large if they include everything they have ever released and then removed (plus some exclusives). Some costume packs were removed, those could possibly be individual costumes in the loot box, further diluting the loot table. Even for people who do buy a fair amount in the crown store, there is likely still a large list of items you may not have from the past. It also appears that those "regular" items (normal costumes from the CS that were removed rather than fancy limited stuff) will be more common than the rare items.

Another zero. There are two no longer available mounts I would like to pick up, and I would buy them at full price in the store, but I will not buy boxes to maybe possibly eventually get them.

Especially not when I haven't bought a lot of the costumes and stuff from the crown store. Chances are spectacular that I *would* end up with items that I do NOT want, but that would not be duplicates, that I could not trade back.

I'm also suspicious that 400 crowns is the starting point for the boxes; nothing says its the only price out there. Higher price, more items in the box, same infinitesimal chance of actually getting what you want.....

    Zero.

I'll go buy some lottery tickets instead - at least with those I know what the odds are of getting what I want.

If there was a special mount exclusive to the lottery boxes, like one of these datamined ones: http://imgur.com/a/ZthBO

How many RNG boxes at 400 crowns each would you be willing to buy to try for this mount?

There is no 0 option on purpose, this poll is for people who are willing to buy RNG boxes. If you are not willing to buy a box you don't need to take part.

    zero, screw the RNG

    It's not shallow or stupid.

Imagine you want to buy a motorcycle you saw advertised. It's the best looking bike you've ever seen and demand is guaranteed to be high. You go to the shop and instead of being able to buy the motorcycle you instead buy a spin of a roulette wheel which costs about 1/4 what the bike costs (so if the bike is valued at $20,000, a spin is $5,000). There's a .4% chance you'll get the motorcycle, a 50% you'll get free sodas from the vending machine, a 20% chance of getting a voucher for some free riding lessons, 5% chance of getting a free paint job, and 1% chance of winning a guaranteed no down payment, best rate financing on another bike. They don't add up to 100% because the roulette wheel is digital and they don't disclose the actual chances.

What would you do? Spin the wheel until you get that bike or say screw them?

You can say the same thing with clothes. Imagine wanting to buy a new shirt or suit or dress or whatever, and the shop doesn't sell the clothes directly but instead sells a roulette wheel spin that has an extremely low chance of giving you the clothes you want and a much greater chance at giving you free drinks from the vending machine or some other crap you don't want.

Just sell us the items directly in the cash shop and don't make us gamble for them ZOS, or I promise you you'll feel the backlash as people quit and spread negative word-of-mouth.
