You jest, but I knew someone in Dragon Nest that spent his rent ($600+) on lucky eggs, just to get a pink pony mount. He never did get the mount, but it went on sale in the store a month later.
Yeah, that's a Cryptic thing. STO throws a notification across the screen whenever someone gets one of the prize ships. I think Neverwinter and Champions do as well (though I've no idea what CO's notifications are for, and don't care enough to go check). But, yeah, that's a real thing, another company has done with lockbox prizes.

As I understood it, yes. But it seems that only repeated items will be converted to gems, not any unwanted item.

of all players who purchase 2-5 boxes dreaming of having the mount, less that 0.5% of them will actually have it.. when Zenimax say low chance, its lower than the lowest chance you can think of. its not a freaking mounts box they are bringing, its crown repair kits and crown soul gems boxes with "slight" chance of something that could be a mount
you opened 200 boxes and got the mount you want? RNG - hundreds of ESO players in this category

Mathematically no, there's no promise that spending a sufficient quantity on gambling boxes will actually yield enough gems to buy something. It is additionally unknown whether or not all the items will be available for second fiat currency I mean bid-increasing confidence-boosting mechanic I mean Crown Gems. The only word I've found on that matter is that it will be a separate store with items that will rotate out over time. And just to drive the point home, I really do mean that there is no number of gambling box purchases that will guarantee getting duplicate items (and therefore Crown Gems). you need to rephrase your whole poll before it starts to even make sense.

Well there is a huge difference between 5% and 0.01%. at a 1 in 20 chance, I may try a few boxes and see if I get lucky. If I knew it was 1 in 10,000 I would never even bother. That's the sort of difference I'm talking about.Edited by redspecter23 on August 23, 2016 1:50AM0 -
