Im a male player so the following may be a bit weird for some?
I started last week with a male Templar, an old guy with a grey beard. In my head he was a retired farmer, family all grown up so sold the farm and headed off on his own adventure. I wanted him to look like a farmer as opposed the many neon glowing spiky armours that I see (literally) running around so the clothing/armour available doesn’t really look suitable. Settled on a pirate outfit.
So I had the bright idea of dumping his appearance and going full on gender swap to a young woman. Clearly I made her as attractive as possible to look at but what I wasn’t prepared for is the amount of other pervs (in addition to me) that are in the game. The same character, now a young woman in a belly dancer outfit is getting numerous ‘trade’ offers, both in game and PSN. I can stand in a town and player literally walk up stand in front and stare. The sexy walk they have the females do, doesn’t help matters. Its kinda amusing knowing that im a bloke behind the toon but I feel sorry for all the female players that maybe get this all this time. (unless of course they play as male characters!)
Any other female characters (male or female RL players) get this ‘problem’

That being said- I don't go for generically 'pretty' characters. I like them to be pretty sure, but I also like them to look in place in the world, and depending on their character, even a little arrogant or battle-worn.

You assume female players can't handle and don't want the attention? You really feel sorry for them? First world problems, huh? Still, I don't play a female avatar, because there is a certain awkwardness knowing that others perceive me as a female, but that's just me. If I was playing as a female, and someone payed me a compliment. it would go something like this...
Someone else: "Dude, your avatar is hot."
Me: "ikr"
See, I am still as much a third person in the compliment as everyone else, and I would never take the compliments personally.

wowza.....what a response to a simple question/observation based on FACT I have experienced playing two genders in game in a short space of time.
I can assure you as a 40 something happily married family man I have no 'problem' with thinking people fancy me and not my avatar...
Re the second statement....note the word 'maybe' in there. 'Maybe' defines a random and unknown quantity and not a direct assumption of fact. So no...I don't believe women (I note your generalisation in there) need pity but was purely asking if other players of female characters get additional attention/harassment (irrespective of whether taken in good spirit or not, as mine is)
Thanks to the other posters.... good to hear im not totally alone in noticing this. One extra thing ive noticed, the attention generally comes from newer players and not the high level players that have 'maybe' (added for bryans sake) have seen pretty much everything already

Your use of the word maybe was not used to describe if they 'maybe' uncomfortable, it was used to describe if they 'maybe' get the attention in the first place, which still implies that once they do get the attention, you pity them... but nice try at defending your assumptions. My point was... 'Maybe' they want the attention and don't need your pity, and 'maybe' these delusions that other avatars are 'harassing' you are just in your head to begin with.
Maybe...

I have 4 female chars and I think no one has ever bothered me. I don't mind if people want to stare at my characters, I stare other people chars all the time out of curiosity. And the female sexy walk doesn't really bother me and I'm a female irl. Tho it would be cool if you could change walk style etc. on your characters.

I really have no idea if people are making this up or I am just not making attractive characters, bit I don't get the harrasment thing with female characters.

I only perceived what you wrote based on the definitions of the words you chose and the order you chose to use them in. If you expected different reactions, then you should have chosen different words. Or did you expect every opinion to simply reinforce your assumptions? I really don't know... I only suspect, like any rational mind would.
In my opinion, you are setting a standard PC outrage idea that it is wrong for players to be attracted to cartoon characters, or to admire other players characters appearance. You do this by accusing them of what you 'perceive' as harassment, and then imply that all female players feel harassed like you. However, 'maybe' I am wrong, but the words you chose point in that direction.

Jeez.. give it a rest please. Its a simple question to the wider audience. No intentions or accusations were implied or intended. I didn't expect or appreciate simple queries being dissected in such a manner about where I had put the word 'maybe' in a sentence. If people don't feel harassed, then great. I don't, as I clearly said. It was merely an observation I had found in game in my own experience which clearly you haven't had.
I'm female and play females (PS4) but my PSN gives me away; definitely female. I turned voice chat off pretty soon after starting to play because of some swearing/name calling incidents, which I feel limits my experience but worth it in the long run.
And I get the trade thing a lot too but this is my first MMO so I put that down to being normal!
Someone else I know plays girls but has a male sounding PSN and has never had any problems. Could just be my characters are hotter than his but makes you think!

You ended your OP with the word 'problem' in subtle quotes as to imply you felt some type of questionable behavior. This was very clear. So what was the problem then? That female avatars get attention? That's not a problem. You also said you feel sorry for girls who get this type of attention. Why? Or, maybe feel sorry for them, and maybe you don't? Do they need you to feel sorry for them? Or maybe they get the attention, and then you feel sorry for them?
Maybe you are trying to rewrite your OP because you know the original intent, and yea... you don't appreciate me pointing it out... but then maybe you should not have made so many assumptions to begin with. How about YOU give it a rest, because I can keep going. Accept that your OP had some logic errors, and that people on the internet are capable and will point them out if you don't word your sentences more carefully.
I personally want to see MORE hot avatars, and MORE dudes hitting on them. It's funny.

Very normal. It is actually a lot better then it was in the past.
Heck when WoW came out all those years ago you could make money dancing on mail boxes. People would randomly send my female toons phat lewts in the mail.
Over time though more females are playing games and more males are smart enough to figure out ingame sex doesnt equal real life sex. But us guys is dum.
Almost makes me wish ESO had mail boxes to dance on.
...I've played all females (as a female) for over 2 years...
Clearly I made her as attractive as possible to look ...
The same character, now a young woman in a belly dancer outfit ...
I think part of the reason its happening to me is that I like to RP a little. Not in a major sense but when im in a town I like to trot around on my camel and walk into craft zones etc, rather than sprint/jump everywhere. Sometimes I just stand and watch what's going on in a town square and that's when it happens. Not when im running around.
