Was a male, now a female and the difference is scary

Im a male player so the following may be a bit weird for some?

I started last week with a male Templar, an old guy with a grey beard. In my head he was a retired farmer, family all grown up so sold the farm and headed off on his own adventure. I wanted him to look like a farmer as opposed the many neon glowing spiky armours that I see (literally) running around so the clothing/armour available doesn’t really look suitable. Settled on a pirate outfit.

So I had the bright idea of dumping his appearance and going full on gender swap to a young woman. Clearly I made her as attractive as possible to look at but what I wasn’t prepared for is the amount of other pervs (in addition to me) that are in the game. The same character, now a young woman in a belly dancer outfit is getting numerous ‘trade’ offers, both in game and PSN. I can stand in a town and player literally walk up stand in front and stare. The sexy walk they have the females do, doesn’t help matters. Its kinda amusing knowing that im a bloke behind the toon but I feel sorry for all the female players that maybe get this all this time. (unless of course they play as male characters!)

Any other female characters (male or female RL players) get this ‘problem’

I played primarily female characters for the most part (there more aesthetically pleasing to me) and have never really had that happen (only once I think in about 7 years of MMO?) I have also NEVER made the assumption that character gender = real life gender, and that's a bad assumption to make.

it seems to depend on the age group of the players (I'm PC NA if that matters) you can tell because if your in chat with older players and some women talk its just about the conversation. with younger kids (boys) they freak out like "what! girls play too!!!???"

that said I played a game called evony for a wee bit and totally pretended I was a girl when I took over my elder sisters account, everyone new she was a girl and she had a girly name and I knew how she typed so it was easy to get attackers to leave me alone.

"hiya ^_^, sorry to bother you but ill abandon that keep if its too close if you can leave my others alone, sound okay? thanks hun <3"

    bam, instant left alone.

I'm on PC/NA/AD and I didn't have this problem after beta. Max that happened was a guy on guild that learned I was a girl and was awful about that (and got the boot, off course).

I imagine that my characters just aren't very attractive to most people. I think they are all beautiful, though.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

A lizard, an old lady, a pirate only a mother could love... Oh. So that's why it has never happened to me. :P Namthe is reasonably attractive though - it's difficult to make a Bosmer who isn't - and still nothing.

I've always despised the sexy walk thing that they put onto female characters. It's just dumb, and I'm sure some people might even find it offensive. We can see the differences between character models, you don't have to make all the girl ones walk like they're on a catwalk modeling lingerie.

My Templar was my first female character and something I noticed while leveling her up was that I was constantly getting unsolicited group invites, friend requests, whispers, etc. It's not like she's sexy either...She's pretty but there's nothing revealing about her gear or anything and there never has been. Borderline tomboyish, if anything. Noticed the same thing leveling up my other two female characters. It pretty much stopped by max level though.

Yes I get a few creepy messages and flirtatious remarks here and there when I'm on my female character, she's an Altmer. People have come up to her and tried to do weird romantic RP (the naked Altmer vampire who chased me around a bar in Valenwood is still the weirdest incident like that), other players have done /blowkiss emotes to her when standing around, she's had compliments about the size of her chest area... it's really weird. I'm a female in real life too.

I should say though she hasn't gotten any marriage proposals like my male Altmer has, but most of those were my guild being silly to be fair :D. My male Redguard gets no love, but he's an undead abomination so I feel like that's a pretty big deal-breaker for most people! That and vampirism isn't the most attractive disease.

Hehe, yes. As I was standing at the Rift werewolf shrine with my female templar tank (even with full heavy armor, nothing really exciting to that), someone wanted to trade something, that was, well...impossible ingame in exchange for a bite. But this character of mine already is a werewolf and I immediately transformed. No more words followed that...

They always stare down the Female.

I'm afraid to stand still in Wayrest and often opt to stand away from the crowd hugging a tree. That's what it takes to not have people stare down my Female Sorc.

I swear some of them are screenshotting her. O_o

Despite having more female characters than male, many of them pretty easy on the eye, I've gotten a grand total of two whispers commenting on a character's appearance and I've played since launch.

I only got a message once but with my male argonian. A girl in Mournhold came to me and asked if I could walk into the light so that she can make a Screenshot. Later on she told me the reason was just the dye of my armour. So just play as an argonian and no one will bother you maybe except for Casts <3<3 a true argonian lover

It always baffles me whenever I read posts like this. Both me and my boyfriend have played female characters since beta, some of them intentionally made to be attractive, and this has never happened. I've never had people initiate random trades or openly stare, and only once did someone attempt to flirt with one of my characters, ironically one who is a rather butch Breton in covering armour. :#

I assume everyone knows that character gender =/= player gender, including in my case (I play males as well as females) so trying to flirt with a bunch of pixels is more than a little naive.

Funny. I have a very nice looking Argonian templar that is part of the Mages Guild and she usually goes around in robes but I never got any weird messages or trades from random people. I only get the expected lusty Argonian maid jokes from Guildies xD. Funny thing is she looks bit and is similar to character wise to Dechee-Noo in the Orsinium Mages Guild. Except the lusty multiple dating kind of thing. As I had created her way before Orsinium came out I was rather surprised to find my Argonian almost looking in the mirror xD. A few guild mates whispered me about that character too. Even asked if my character also likes frozen eggs xD

Your 'problem' is, you believe they are attracted to YOU, and not your avatar. Since when is it a crime to be attracted to cartoon characters? However, I more suspect you had expectations, and now your mind is making them come true.

I would also like to point out the assumptions in this statement. You assume female players can't handle and don't want the attention? You really feel sorry for them? First world problems, huh? Do you believe women need your pity?

Still, I don't play a female avatar, because there is a certain awkwardness knowing that others perceive me as a female, but that's just me. If I was playing as a female, and someone payed me a compliment. it would go something like this...

Someone else: "Dude, your avatar is hot."
    Me: "ikr"

See, I am still as much a third person in the compliment as everyone else, and I would never take the compliments personally.

All female chars, and nothings happened to any of them asides from the odd little dude being stunned by female presence on the interwebs. That being said- I don't go for generically 'pretty' characters. I like them to be pretty sure, but I also like them to look in place in the world, and depending on their character, even a little arrogant or battle-worn.

I have 4 female chars and I think no one has ever bothered me. I don't mind if people want to stare at my characters, I stare other people chars all the time out of curiosity. And the female sexy walk doesn't really bother me and I'm a female irl. Tho it would be cool if you could change walk style etc. on your characters.
