I'm a PVE Care Bear and I Hate Dueling in PVE Zones

How can you hate something thats not been shown yet, It's not out we haven't seen what it is and people are complaining.

    These forums.

There is 99.999% chance of there being a auto decline option. Shouldn't be hard to put it on.

Us pvper's will likely just find a easy to access out the way place with lots of room and good scenery and make that the official/unoffical dueling spot. Away from the lag of cyrodill, the unequal duels via pvp passives and scroll bonus and away from the lag of the main towns.

As long as they add an auto decline, then you never know you were sent an invite, I don't duel I think it is a waste of time in a game like ESO, but others seem to enjoy it and that's ok, just leave me out of it, I might stop to watch a couple of people duel, but for the most part not interested in the least.

"Dueling doesn't mean "open world pvp".... stay calm noobs, there will b duels allowed anywhere outside of city districts, primarily outside the city gates but of course u'll b approached wit a prompt on ur screen n u have to accept in order to duel that person. Kinda jus like how a grp invite works, click or ./player name wants to duel u, either accept n fight or jus run away wit ur tail tucked n continue ur "carebear pve." Welcome to an mmo or enjoy ur Skyrim Remastered in October lol. :)

I know this is a sarcasm thread and I don't really care about this subject either way.

What I don't get is the name-calling. Why do posters feel the need try to demean people? Carebears, crybabies, noobs or any other derogatory term you can think of. Does it make you feel tougher? Do you actually think your provoking someone? Damn wanna be keyboard warriors. SMH

The fact their brain can't come up with something other than an insult really shows a person's intelligence.

My actual thoughts on it though, as long as there's an auto opt out option. No one on either side should be complaining.
I want to change the world. I'm just to lazy to do it.

Yeah, they do. And boy those pve'rs sure do ruin things by running over and attacking the pvp players who were minding their own business and doing pvp stuff.

    Oh, wait.....

I went to an IC crafting station to make a set of gear for someone. I made it to the IC, made it to the crafting station only fighting npc enemies. Made the gear and left. On my way back, with my weapon sheathed, I got attacked by a super high cp player. I didn't pull my weapon. I didn't stop to attack. I didn't want to pvp. I ran. And the totally awesome super pvper ran behind me, shooting me in the back until they finally killed me.

I never attacked any player. I never drew my weapon. I never turned to attack or even try to do so.

Pray tell, how was I interfering with the pvp player? Besides not dying in one shot. If he had ignored me, I'd have continued on my way back to the base and out. One type of player "has to deal", but I don't think its the pvpers. I knew going there was more than likely going to get me killed. If it wasn't for the gear the guildie wanted, I'd have not set foot in Cyrodiil for anything.
Well I know I been burned to many times by letting players go.So I dont do it anymore.I let you go and next time I see you your with 15 other players and t bagging me.I don't care if you hold up block that doesn't mean anything your in a PVP zone.Like I said before they need to remove every quest beside from bounty quest in PVP.We won't have to hear these stories anymore.

Wouldn't be seeing me. I don't pvp. Just going by a lot of the posts on the forum the pvp side of things is more toxic than ebola and anthrax combined. I don't want to hear immature trash talk, comments about what your mother said last night, racial insults, slurs, and all the other IR TEH LEETEST EVAH AND MINE IS BIGGER THAN YOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! behavior. If that makes me a carebear, then so be it. PVP could be ignored when it was in Cyrodiil. It won't be now. And nothing in the update said anything about making the Ignore list larger. Or infinite. I've run out of space more times than I can count just for Stonefalls asshattery. I have the feeling this is going to be worlds worse.

Erm, I read it is to be available everywhere. So, from the wasteland of alik'r to the center of sentinel, from the jungle of grahtwood to the throne room of the Elden root tree...

Duelists better get closely acquainted with that 'prevent attacking innocents' setting! Or dropping that aoe on the duel opponent could also get you an angry guard! :s

The npc enemy doesn't make it personal. No trashtalk about what someone's mother said last night. They don't teabag an opponent. They don't spout hate speech if you win and they die. They don't whisper threats and insults until you report them and ignore them. The npc enemies are downright polite and civil while they fireball you and try to tear your guts out. Players, not so much.

It has potential. Hopefully dueling is against the law, meaning you have to head outside of town and away from guards to do it. It should still be possible to initiate a duel in town but guards should go after both participants.

Auto-decline is a must as well.

Don't quest in Cyro or IC or that makes you a hyppcrite

People are allowed (and sometimes even encouraged) to gank players wanting to get the Cyrodiil PvE done, thus creating a lot of anger only to get the "You're in Cyrodiil, deal with it" response. So lets only make it fair. We should be allowed to gank Duelers.

Or at least aggro some nearby mobs over into the path of their Duel. I mean, you guys WILL be outside of Cyrodiil. Only fair.

We are a step closer to the Flower Wars, my lifelong dream of being able to challenge a plant stealer in Coldharbour to a duel.

You inspired me to expand upon your concept. I know something like this would never be implemented but it might give the Devs ideas of what else they could do. Let me paint the scene for you, picture Flower Wars working a bit like Imperial City with its Tel Var stones.

Imagine that when you choose to play Flower Wars there is a setting to automatically accept duels and when you do so there is an increased chance to harvest more flowers. You are merrily picking flowers when suddenly another player challenges you to a duel and the duel is on! Should you win the duel you will receive an allotment of Columbine and the loser will yield some of theirs.

Who cares about fighting over Tel Var when there is Columbine to fight over!

I hate those pve criers. Srsly, I like pve and i'm happy they increase the difficulty of the vet dungeons (as far as I understood, vet means now "very hard" for all the new stuff), but how can u pve guys immediately start crying if we pvp guys get something?

I mean, lets be honest, they focused mainly about pve and all we get (still missing arenas / battlegrounds) is dueling and u immediately start crying? PvE is the "good" part about that game, because cyro just sucks with lags and fps drops, so plz.. we all play the same game and if u want it for story / lore, man, in reality people would duel and fight where they are if they want to, it totally fits the whole world...

So plz, stay together as a community and stop whining all the time, u PvE#rs dont get hurt by anything with that function. It seems to me u just bother more about "oh my god, the did somehting for pvp'ers, plz keep focusing on pve" thing...

I think it's strange (but not bad) that you look at this form of dueling as "something for pvp'ers", when this seems to me like it was designed FOR PvE'ers. If this new dueling was for PvPers only, they would just build it into Cyrodiil and the IC.

The fact that they are putting it into PvE land tells me that they intend this dueling primarily as a way for PvE "carebears" to experience fights against other players. This will even be true for hardcore "role-players", who can now have actual brawls in their taverns!

You are also forgetting that there are many players like me, who do both PvE AND PvP activities. Even as a "carebear", I look foward to dueling other players and putting my 1v1 skills to use.

I don't care what two consenting people do so long as it is not allowed to happen in areas where other activities are being disrupted, such as banks and crafting areas; and, so long as I can opt out and not be harassed about it. I'm ambivalent about areas around waystations since some of them in cities are pretty cramped. Taverns, on the other hand, while cramped, can have all the brawls they can handle. All I want is to be allowed to go to the big city for some banking and needed crafting without being assaulted or insulted. And have I mentioned that I am not a "carebear" and truly hate being called one?

From my understanding, one can turn off dual for PVE zones. "Auto-decline for dueling" is an options in the menu.

This is good news to me, though I suspect there won't be a setting to auto-ignore the trolls who will spam the chat afterwards with insults, name-calling etc. for not taking time away from whatever I actually wanted to do to dual them. That will probably still need to be done manually.

just right click that troll right in zone chat and ignore them, you cant possible QQ thats to much trouble :/ there are lots of *** trolling chats that are already on most peoples ignore list; probably dont even realise they are losers talking to themselves lol

Either you're sarcastic, don't know you don't have to participate in duels, or you're so terrified of seeing players fighting each other that you probably never set food once in cyrodiil or the imperial city. Actually if you think about it, duelling could add to PVE and Roleplay.

Set up a makeshift arena in the world, roleplayers come and watch the blood sport of people fighting to the death. Could be a lot of fun.

And I'm sure there'll be a decline mechanic. It won't kill PVE. Didn't in WoW, won't here.

I absolutely cannot wait for dueling. But I will say this: I think it would be a good idea to have cities and places with innocents or guards as "off limits" areas where you can't duel. It just makes sense. And all you'd have to do to duel is move just outside the city and you could duel. That way high pop areas aren't lagged to death and people at banks or crafting stations aren't bugged with duel invites if there isn't a auto decline option.

The "dueling is for pve" argument would have basis if not for the fact that pvp outside cyrodil has been a constant plea from PVPers since day one. their drive to inflict PVPi into PVE zones has been constant and can be seen on countless threads.

So, no, Zos deciding to grant PVP outside of cyrodil isnt a indication its for PVE players, just that they have now caved on their promised and oft reinforced "pvp only in pvp zone" policy.

If they fail to make it painless for their PVE crowd, they will see the results of that reversal.
