Light Attacking is Broken? (and animation priority)

    I attempted to finish vMA today with my magblade and i noticed something about this light attack weaving bug.

    Light attack weaving is far worst when it combined with funnel health compare to when it combined with force pulse.

    Does anyone else also notice this? Or do you feel there is nothing different?

    I am having exactly the same issue, the funnel health animation HANGS on the first cast, and every subsequent cast between light attacks OR heavy attacks. ZOS has acknowledged that light attacks are not performing properly immediately owing to the animation prioritization update, and have likewise stated it would be unfair to us to speculate as to when it would be fixed.

    My money's on them not knowing what's wrong at all. I didn't want to jump on the bandwagon, but I see it being swept under the rug. The next DLC is alrea- Sorry, the next MINI-DLC is obviously taking up all of their manpower. This issue has most likely been thrown on the back burner so long as it doesn't threaten their revenue.

    This one issue is a small facet of the larger animation prioritization faux pas that was shoved down our throats after repeated warnings from the PTS community that it was not playable compared to the current model.

    I'm very deeply disappointed, dejected, and all around pissed off.

    And you know what, I didn't even think of this until just now. ZOS is actively developing content, competitive content which covers both PVE and PVP, for the game amidst these obvious combat issues. This animation prioritization problem has severely hurt a lot of builds and playstyles, so here's my question for you..

    Are they playtesting this new content, and thereby adjusting said content for, with the live build of the game? Do they have this problem on their own private playtesting build? Are we about to receive some exceptionally nerfed content right out of the gates because they're compensating for this severe drop in player competency, OR are they designing the content with the intention of making this current build the new standard?

    This is what happens when you don't address problems immediately. They stack up and subsequently hurt EVERYTHING you put out down the line. Want people to be excited for a new DLC? How could they be, if they've got horrendous playability issues right in their face?

    Quality Control.

    I feel that this is serious matter concerning the game. I do understand that you might need time to investigate and fix it. but at least provide us information or update on your thought about this issue. is it really intended or not? and why? or maybe you guys just don't care at all?

    Its really frustrating, the game feels like so broken even the most basic combat system such as "light attack" and 1 button pressed ability is broken?

    Come on ZOS. where is your professionalism. we paid for your game. :/

    @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_RichLambert @Wrobel It's time to either revert these changes you made IN THE NEXT PTS PATCH or fix your new system immediately. You made a mistake and you need to own up to it and provide a good experience for your players. I don't mean to sound rude but this is ridiculous. This is quite possibly the most game-breaking thing in ESO at the moment, but your biggest priority seems to be marketing costume dyes and barber shops to players.

    This is the moment of truth everyone. It's been 2 months since the Dark Brotherhood patch and since they broke animation cancelling. Tonight the servers are going down for the Shadows of the hist patch.

    If this issue doesn't get resolved in this major patch, if after 2 months of your combat being broken with little communication on the matter and you guys still don't fix this....I'm out.

    I've been an avid ESO fan and supporter since launch, but the melee combat in this game is what I enjoy the most, and you ruined it.

    Guess we'll just wait and see.

    I wouldn't expect much, but I would expect some kind of response. Just look how many people expressed that this is broken, it's not a minor issue.
    At least something like We are working on it or even yes this is intended and we'll keep it this way so we don't need to bump this thread all the time.

    I play a templar caster and I mostly have no use for light/heavy attacks so I wasn't affected by it until I created a new healer character and my healing staff is just not working...

    Wherever I cast a spell and want to follow with a heavy attack to recharge mana, I just can't use the staff for up to 3-5 seconds... The spell animation has clearly ended, yet when I push left mouse button nothing happens, so I wait another second, push again and nothing, so I wait again push and nothing... I just wanted to ask if it's broken or something and voila there is this 2 months old topic with no response from the devs... I'm no longer even surprised.

    This won't get fixed just like how the mobility bug from TG didn't get fixed.
    Overload rework. Power Overload now does physical damage and grants you the power of a tornado: You throw a brick at the target with a light attack, and you hammer your head into that brick with every heavy attack. We have decreased its Ultimate cost, but increased the chance that you get stuck in the animation.

    Seriously ZOS, if you morons aren't able to take 5 minutes out of your day, OVER 2 MONTHS!! to address the animation cancelling that you broke, a major issue which you snuck into the latest DLC without even adding the change into the patch notes...the question is..

    As I posted in my own thread complaining about this very same thing, ZoS has come out and flat out said the animations on screen are NOT in synch with when you press the buttons because the light attack animation is prioritized over everything (except blocking...nice for ZoS to be inconsistent.

    This is not a bug, but precisely how they designed it and completely intentional.

    As @Zos_EdLynch notes: "That second, interrupting ability still happens the moment you activate it, the only difference is that the beginning few frames of that animation will be obscured by the impact/launch of the preceding one," i.e., when you press a button, the game will NOT give you any indication that action was performed even though it was processed.

    If you rely on actually watching your character for attacking, animal cancelling, or anything, like that, the game is going to feel unresponsive because it will prioritize an attack animation no matter what buttons you press.

    This doesn't explain how abilities can completely lock up and nothing happens for 2-3 seconds at a time until 5 abilities randomly all burst off at once in a rapid flurry.

    I know lol. It's another is a long series of ZoS making changes intended to make the game better and introducing bugs/inconsistent mechanics that break things that worked just fine before.

    I was just pointing out their puzzling design choice of allowing for animation and actions to be out of synch as potential culprit for lock-ups.
    Make Rush of Agony "Monsters only." People should not be consecutively crowd controlled in a PvP setting. Period.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom @ZOS_RichLambert @Wrobel it's been a full patch since you introduced the animation changes. They're consistently breaking under the tiniest bit of lag. Playing the Ruins of Mazzatun last night, release night, ping was over 400ms. Skills would not fire reliably, they would some times get locked up while in the midst of a light attack. You couldn't combat weave in that lag to save your life. Instead you're running around, kiting mobs with your weapon held high like you're leading some macabre parade!

    When can we expect fixes to the mushy controls and animation lock ups? They're terrible and ruining this game.

    Yeah it's really annoying when you have no animation what so ever and then suddenly they activate again. Combat has been way worse since Dark Brotherhood. Luckily I have Blade of Woe so I don't have bother with it so much. Combat was big reason why I play this and not some other mmo, it's not so clear anymore.

    Another thing personalities they added ... That dagger throwing makes my mining picks and fishing poles dissappear most of the time. I'm just doing the moves with empty hands.

    Yesterday I noticed this issue was gone. Hope today when/if the server goes back up, it won't be back.

    While people continue to play, then ZoS don't give a single, solitary *** and all the complaining in the world won't change anything.

    The only thing that will change things is when players stop playing - BOYCOTT THE GAME.

    (It is so sad that it has come to this. If only ZoS had listened to its community...)

    I'm getting the same issue as many reported here, just can't seem to weave NB attacks anymore. I have to slow it right now to the point it's not really waving anymore.

    I'm okay with there being weaving or there not being weaving in the game but I'd really like to know which it's meant to be.
