And the problem with "fanboi-ish" behavior is that it perpetuates bad PR for any company. If a company indeed wants to market itself, it will filter through information (both positive AND negative) and consider a direction that will ensure long term success, rather than catering to a small few "armchair lawyers" who think they have an idea of what's best.
Good companies will consider both- not just praise and back-slapping.
I agree completely...any serious company would actually care about ALL of their customers, however:
Honestly, I am not expecting anything from this company when their creative directors are just as childish as some people on this forum. Never ever...have I seen such a response from someone to one of their costumers. From a corner cafe? Maybe.
Companies should never give that kind of response to someone that purchased their product, if they dont have anything better to say, than they shouldnt say anything at all. It was a very petty response... best thing? It has like 74 awesome. Even better? Those awesomes contribute to the direction this game is heading. Even better? Stop trying to twist what Rich said. That was said in a thread where he was not acting as a dev but as a fellow player. That thread was like a vacation for him to just talk with the community and people like the one he replied to were trying to derail it.
I am not twisting. It is legitimately what he said. I know it was a "fun" thread, I think it was yours? I am not saying the thread is bad, but no matter when and where, you dont talk like that to your customers. If you are ok with that kind of attitude than I feel sorry for you. I worked with customers and have a marketing degree, let me tell you, some of them can be freaking annoying, but never have I behaved this way, in or outside of work.
Yes it was mine and it was just a friendly discussion among players, no administrative presence involved. Now allow me to clear up your misinterpretation:
What you think he said: You know you don't have to play our game right?
What he actually said: You know you don't have to be in this thread right?
As a player he has every right to fend off people trying to call him out like that. As a dev he naturally would've responded differently, IF that thread had been on THAT topic.
Look, whether he acted as a player or not, he is ALWAYS a dev. Period. The mature and respectful choice would have been to completely ignore that question. The people are calling him out like that maybe because they are sick of a broken game after all these years and saw that as the only opportunity to call him out. I am not saying it was ok to call him out, but neither am I agreeing with his behavior.
So he basically has no right or privilege to be himself then just because he's a dev? Yeah, that's not unfair or biased. How would you like it if he ONLY considered YOU as JUST the consumer? People respect a businessman willing to connect honestly without a false smile with his clientele you know. Why do you think that post got all those awesomes? Seriously...
Actually by posting on these forums under his name he's on the job,so no he can't just be himself.I've seen people lose their jobs over this stuff on social media.regardless of position.
Except his job is to work on the game, not be part of the social media. Gina, Jessica, and others of their respective position are the social media handlers. Sure he has appeared on streams but that doesn't mean the social media is his job, just that he actually gives us info straight from the horse's mouth.
Also I suppose Gina is in trouble for throwing a "Get out" .gif at me too since she's on the job? Yeah screw that. I say be yourself, not your job, and as long as you do what your actual job is then you are allowed to cut loose and have fun anytime you want!
P.S. I actually was gonna say the f word instead of screw but it was somehow unfiltered so I changed it so as not to get in trouble lol
I agree so much with @Mojmir & @EstelioVeleth on this one. That response was definitely offensive and inappropriate as he is a game director after all and it's not like the game is running smoothly at the moment. He could have used the player's inappropriate comment to answer while being constructive such as how the game is improving in some ways and that they are working on things (insert whatever you want here). But instead he chose to be rude and it reflects badly on the management team imo as we all know there are many issues in the game right now, and it just made me as a player feel completely stupid.

No that's not a thing. He's a dev, he has a responsibility to the players. He didn't handle the question well at all. That was unprofessional.
If he wanted to post as a player he shouldn't of done it under a ZOS tag.

I really dont want to buy this... But but.... What if I dont get it and then they turn around and fix it next week and its gone from store?
I really like the concept of the costume AND it has a CAPE. A CAPE. No other costume has a CAPE. But it looks so trashy now..... But but if they fix it and I dont has it I iz be very sad...
Thoughts? Advice? Oh and also;

That is the generation that gets the same treatment in real life, themselves apologizing for it and fight the worlds problems with #s and safe spaces...but I am going off topic here and will probably get my comment removed.
Most company's make you sign a social media policy upon hiring,if they're involved with it.no matter what his position, and actually in his position he's even MORE accountable for his actions online.
Frankly I and many others found his actions there quite adequate. Someone tried to derail the topic and confront him while he was posting off the record, so off the record he had the right to respond how he did to that person trying to derail the thread.
See the sad truth here is everyone wants the devs to be more open and conversational with the community but when they actually do they get judged when they try to be one of us. Perhaps ya'll should check your priorities before saying anything from now on.
what i saw was a dev(not gina or jessica) actually showing a presence on the forums and answering questions, out of all the questions that have been asked over the many months, the dev chose to actually respond to this one in particular. he could have skipped over it,he could have simply answered something else.

I want to talk about fixes and performance fixes but, instead he responds to a thread about flowers.. Really shows you his priorities.
He's a dev dude.. yeah he plays also but, the fact remains he's a dev. When he responds in these forums people see him as a dev not a player no matter how much of a safe place you think your thread was.

Good grief. Talk about derailing a perfectly good thread
I appreciate the screenshots in the original post. Thank you for alerting us to the problems with the Breton Hero Armor. I feel that it was a constructive post since you linked to plenty of examples of costumes and armor in game which have been "done right".
I'm not sure why this has turned into... well, what it has.

No that's not a thing. He's a dev, he has a responsibility to the players. He didn't handle the question well at all. That was unprofessional.
If he wanted to post as a player he shouldn't of done it under a ZOS tag.
He didn't answer the question because it was off topic.UltimaJoe777 wrote: »UltimaJoe777 wrote: »EstelioVeleth wrote: »UltimaJoe777 wrote: »EstelioVeleth wrote: »UltimaJoe777 wrote: »EstelioVeleth wrote: »Sylveria_Relden wrote: »EstelioVeleth wrote: »True that, but by now the way I saw this game working is that ZOS doesnt even have to act butthurt because ZOS fanboys/girls do it for them... the rest of us are simply entitled just like you said it...
I don't want to talk about dancing in the forest with the devs..
Seems you have some required reading to do then: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/277898/rich-lambert-im-calling-you-out
And don't give me TL;DR because even just a few of those posts actually indicate people were thrilled to talk to him player to player, or just communicate with him in general. Doesn't matter if the topic was friendly conversation about him playing a game he helps make he was still communicating as a player. Dev or not, he still plays the game normally and that is why I made the thread; so we could talk to him as players. It worked beautifully, until some toxic forumgoers decided to derail the thread. ****ing naysay cultAlso for the record this forum is "General Discussion", not "General Complaints" so we, and the devs, have every right to discuss the game as we see fit, and respond to each other as we see fit off the record, which is what that thread was.
UltimaJoe777 wrote: »I agree so much with @Mojmir & @EstelioVeleth on this one.
In that thread he was not a game dev, he was a fellow player. You people just want to label him that way so you can put liability on him unfairly.PurifedBladez wrote: »UltimaJoe777 wrote: »EstelioVeleth wrote: »Sylveria_Relden wrote: »EstelioVeleth wrote: »True that, but by now the way I saw this game working is that ZOS doesnt even have to act butthurt because ZOS fanboys/girls do it for them... the rest of us are simply entitled just like you said it... what i saw was a dev(not gina or jessica) actually showing a presence on the forums and answering questions, out of all the questions that have been asked over the many months, the dev chose to actually respond to this one in particular. he could have skipped over it,he could have simply answered something else.
Because the devs WANT to engage with the community. If they actually have a topic they CAN respond to without spreading false information they will. I know everyone hates seeing a lack of communication by them on so many important topics but they cannot say something if they know it is not 100% accurate. Otherwise, all they will ever say is "we are looking into it and/or working on it".

I wasn't asking you to read it for the fluff. I pointed you toward it because there was SO much positive responses from many of the members of this community thankful for such a thread. Hell I even got pmed a thanks or 2 for making it! Sure it's fluff but it was still interaction with the dev and people here craved that. The fact it was positive was icing on the cake.
People here are so sick and tired of all the negativity that both they AND the devs gladly jump at positive threads. I get people have issues and concerns with the game but that doesn't mean it's ALL we have to discuss.

See your partly right, yes people are sick of the negativity, and until devs try to do right by it it will continue.they jump at positive threads because it's easy,no work to do but pat themselves on the back. Best phrase I ever heard "don't tell me how good my stuff is,I know it's good.tell me what's wrong so I can make it the best".

Would be nice if everyone could do that, but we are all different and I would never expect that of others. However, we CAN try to reign in the insanity wherever we can, before the mods do

Plain bad, just like every other hero costume available.
It is just as impressive how people still buy these after so many threads complaining about the overall quality of costumes and their price.
