ZOS is guilty of implementing a broken mechanic and not being prompt in fixing it. Players can unsub in sign of protest if they want.
Players are guilty of exploiting a mechanic that is clearly broken, and also confirmed to be an exploit multiple times by ZOS. They can and should ban those players.

How about the people that don't read the forums?
How do they know it's an exploit?
Before I read about it here I thought that was how it was supposed to work.
They banned people for 3rd party programs. Some stayed banned other had a suspension. However bans were issued. It seems ZOS are banning for the wrong thing.
Banning for an in game bug because their combat development had a major screw up
Don't ban for 3rd party programs
smh
Both sides are wrong imho. Lazy zos choose to not fix anything like always and stupid ppl exploited the bug to get an advantage over others.
#banzosandexploiters
@Sunburnt_Penguin been telling them that since yesterday morning.
They set the precedent it's fine to abuse bugs by taking no action for two years, now that they're finally taking action (which is a good thing, and they need to continue) they need to learn how to communicate that better.
We're getting there I guess, one disaster after another. I just hope the backlash from this makes them realise where they went wrong, and not think that enforcing things was the mistake.

Now they are FINALLY after two years stepping up and enforcing their ToS and keeping Cyrodiil fair by banning people who abused a bugged skill to bypass mechanics it wasn't designed for.
No the bug shouldn't have gone live, yes they should have communicated their declaration of it being an exploit better.
But please for the love of this game don't say them enforcing this is a bad thing! It's one the best things they have done for PvP in a long time.
This like the tail who was first yhe chicken or yhe egg?
Who is fault the player that uses mechanics that are bugged or zos who introduce them without fix them?

Yes, ZOS should have fixed it before it went live, but the people using the bug to glitch into keeps also knew it's wrong without anyone telling them. Just like the people who used the survey glitch knew. It's not that nobody knew it was wrong, just that they didn't think they would be punished for it, given past history. I am glad Zenimax is taking baby steps to change that impression.
Let me share a real life allegory of my thinking on this. Yes, this is a true, ongoing story.
My work recently added a clear glass window to the ladies room where I work. It's in a high traffic hallway area, and from the doorway exiting the stairwell it offers a perfect view of the spot women stand to adjust things in the full length mirror before leaving the bathroom.
Should management have thoroughly investigated the implications before adding the window? Yes.
You will still get fired for staring.

Someone at your company is losing a job.
Just... like wow, glass windows to a rest room... That's dumb before you even check if shows something it shouldn't.

Only if you use a gap closer to jump ahead in the queue line.
a.k.a. Of course not. It's against the rules of the game to use bugs/features/exploits to circumvent game mechanics. Especially if it impacts the gameplay of others, such as PvP or leaderboards or the game economy.

@Molag_Crow 1059% I completely agree with you here.Molag_Crow wrote: »I doubt more than 2 people were banned for using gap-closers to get up on keep walls.
Probably an Emperor or something who got up on a wall to troll a whole team, but even then, he shouldn't get more than 3 day ban for clicking a button that lifted him up onto a wall.
So many of you are defending the supposed bans like "YEAAAAAAH!!!! TOTALLY JUSTIFIED! DON'T JUST BAN THEM, EXECUTE THEM! 'MERICA!"
Focus on those who're actually cheating by using 3rd party programs to exploit the leaderboards/gold/materials/content rather than some guy pressing his gap closer to get up onto a wall.
