How are you getting free crowns? Is there something I missed?

I do get crowns but they are not free they come with my subscription. And no my subscription if not free.

Quit supporting high prices, some people who play this game would like to buy stuff but can't afford or will not pay $10.00 per outfit. It is a rip off.

I say this costume thing is a monopoly.. we need to open it up and let the users/creators create outfits and sell in stores :) and share the profits with ZOS.

A 1500 crown pack cost 15 dollars. A subscription cost 15 dollars. You get free access to DLC and perks for your ESO plus. The crowns are a free bonus that is permanent whether you unsubscribe or not. So they are free. Your DLC and perks are rent with great amenities.

I don't really feel the need to buy costumes, so I honestly don't really care. If it makes the company money to charge high prices for costumes and mounts, that is fine by me. I'm sure ZOS has a lot of data to inform their prices.

I personally wouldn't spend that much on a costume.

^^^^^This pretty much covers it for me. I wonder about those who have no problem with crown store prices. From my perspective, just about everything is over-priced and out of my budget. That's okay, I've learned to mostly control the impulse buying ingrained in us by relentless media and businesses. I've made my share of stupid purchases, and it's my philosophy we learn more from our mistakes. zos is doing everyone a favor with these prices, or at least giving everyone a chance to learn from experience. :p

I think 1000 crowns for a wll detailed costume is okay. It does unlocks on all your characters. 1000, hell even 700 is too much for costumes like that ugly brown top and skirt you can buy atm in the store.

In my eyes you are still paying for those crowns. I guess if you say they are free.. then they are.

It is kind of like the store ad I see often. Buy one and get one FREE, but in the end you are really paying for two.

Alright, let me put it this way.

Do you prefer having a cosmetic thing that is completely useless in the Crown Store for a high price and have DLCs for reasonable prices, or do you prefer to have DLCs for high prices and useless cosmetic stuff for reasonable prices?

They have to monetize on something. I would rather see them monetizing on useless cosmetic stuff.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

It is a bit much, especially for ones that aren't limited-time like the Nord and Elf hero costumes. Those were 2000 crowns, but they're certainly special. I got the elf one, but not the nord one. Woulda made my lady khajiit look like a whale. Waiting for the Breton one now...

I did not vote, because my answer would be DEPENDS.

We had 1000 crown costumes before - the brocade robe which is no longer available for example. A few of others are in the store as well now. If the quality is ok, I pay 1000 for a costume, if it is not, I pay nothing at all, if I see it early enough that is.

Those packs for 700 - I have them all - I have used from time to time - but they will be more valuable, once I will be able to dye them. With 700 for 3 costume versions, I am not that picky when it comes to slight flaws, but when the price is higher or for a single costume it is 700, I can be quite picky and expect quality work.

So yes, for some costumes I will gladly pay 1000, if the quality is high. ZOS has a scheme though - for the low, medium and high versions - 400, 700 and 1000 crowns - but the quality is basically the same, just the style differs. For 1000 crowns I expect additional mesh work, not just a re-texture of my body. And I expect it to be flawless - no clipping and other issues.

Pretty hard words, and a pretty bad attitude as well, if you think that a certain type of clothes would make a person to what you claim it to be. I like the grahtwood climber outfit and I do not think, that it looks anything like you suggest. Actually I feel offended by your words - because I am wearing short skirts and summer tops as well in real life and I do not like it, when someone is using the W-word to describe it - this is insulting and it is based on nothing but a very bad attitude. Shame on you.

Is it too much? I don't know but I bought them anyways. I have collected every costume, pet and mount from the store because I like to think my money is going to support the game and add more features, at least that's what I hope the money is going too...it's my way of showing support and I have also been keeping my subscription going as well.

I really love this game and I want to see it become even better, otherwise I wouldn't have bought anything and would probably be playing something else.

Nothing is free, your money buys you a few perks, some crowns and DLC access that lasts for the duration of your sub. You are paying for a package, whatever ZoS marketing likes you to think.

As for the cost of a costume? Nobody is forcing you to pay if you don't want to.

It's really all relative to the player. I bought the 700 crown x 3 costumes, and soon I'll be able to dye them. I think that's okay.

But most of the more costly items I don't even really like. (I know some people do, that's why I said it's relative.) When I say I don't like them, I even mean I don't like them even if I can dye them.

That said, I bought the Altmer Hero Costume the day it came out. And I like it. And I probably won't dye it. So while I generally think that's too much to pay, I obviously WILL pay that much if I really want the costume.

Hmm. 1,000 crowns works out to be £6 or thereabouts in my world, if I ignore the modest saving a larger crown pack offers. 1,000 crowns for one costume seems a bit too expensive to me. That said, I might just be swayed if something pretty special came along that I thought suited my characters and the long-term look i'm striving for. But that hasn't happened yet, and i'm a pedantic so-and-so.

First rule of economics; value is assigned by the consumer.

To you and I, ten bucks is a lot to shell out for one costume. That said, people paid 4x that for a mount in a videogame. Guys, you could get 2 DLCS for that price!

All in all, not worth it for my one bosmer (who wouldn't be caught dead in a dress, she's... different) but others may get use out of it.

The costumes that cost that much are honestly on the extreme end of the "optional cosmetics" spectrum. It's exactly what cash shops in MMOs should feature.

ZoS could probably charge a little less for the single costumes, but only if they produced actual expansions for the game to supplement their income. It's kind of telling that a couple of costumes is worth the same as one of the DLC packs...to ZoS and to the customers.

    I came for the sweetrolls.
The 3 packs are all basically just gear that's already in the game and craftable, so it makes sense that it is 700 for a 3 pack. The rest have been unique or semi-unique costumes that have no place in the game world except, maybe, on one or two NPC's or a boss or something.

So I would imagine taking something that is already codified in the game and selling it as a cheap pack then designing new costumes for 1000 Crowns is totally reasonable. Especially if you have looked at how unreasonable Black Desert is with their costumes. No account wide, $30 dollars per costume per character, no crossover gender locked etc. etc.

So yeah, came for the Sweetrolls, left some logic.

They'll sell costumes for however much people will buy them, so, if you have an issue with the pricing, stop buying them. I've never encountered anything more mindboggling in ESO than somebody who will complain about how "ZO$ is money-hungry" and how "ESO sucks so much", yet they'll readily spend $40 on an electric blue tiger mount.

i am picking sweetroll due to the lack of an other option. Honestly they run from 700-1.4k crowns. the more complex the more it cost. Something i do not blame them seeing how the more detail put in to it the more time it takes to create.
