A "clean up of names" would require an involuntary name change for inactive players who return to the game (as many of them do). Which is why, if ZOS does reply to your question, I expect they will say no. Taken names are taken.James-Wayne wrote: »Has or will there be a clean up of names already taken for people that havnt logged in for say 12 months or more? All the names I want are still taken

All the names I want are still taken and I know one guy in our guild that has it but he hasn't logged in for 16 months is all.
I said this under race change, but will post again here, since they are related . The feature works just fine, but I feel it is double dipping to charge someone a name change if they also change race, due to lore friendly names. I changed a Breton Templar to an Argonian. So I changed her Breton name , Malice Mastersen, to one more suited to an Argonian, Honors the Hist, but I had to pay twice; once for the race change, and then for the name. That seems a bit much to me. Maybe do a bundle on that?

I was just thinking, what with us being identified by our @ usernames already, why not allow for names to be used more than once? I hate the fact that my username pops up in guild chat and whatnot...but this could at least be a benefit of that system. Sure there might be dozens of 'John Snow's running around, but there are popular names that you commonly run across in real life too! You'd just have 'John Snow @imunoriginal' and 'John Snow @isuckatnames'. (No offense if you have a character named John Snow)

That's a fantastic idea, Sylvis.

Why is name change not included with race and appearance change? Many players pick their name based on the race. Some names don't make sense on other races. Why are you forcing players to pay twice just to change race?
I miss an option to swap character names of my two characters. If I have, lets say, a Nord Sorcerer named Steve, and a Dunmer Nightblade named Robert, and I want to swap their names I cannot do that. I need to temporarily rename Steve to Kenny, then rename Steve to Robert, then return to Kenny and rename it to Steve. That consumes three tokens whereas there should be a special token to swap names of two selected characters.
Agreed. That would free up theoretically infinitely many names for everyone, and I'm sure a lot of games must do that already.I was just thinking, what with us being identified by our @ usernames already, why not allow for names to be used more than once?
