Next patch your issues are solved somewhat. Guaranteed weapon drop at chest so you wont end up empty handed at least.
I believe the final chest is 100% weapon with 50% chance to drop additional jewelry. I'll go see if I can find the quote...Dalsinthus wrote: »Next patch your issues are solved somewhat. Guaranteed weapon drop at chest so you wont end up empty handed at least.
I read it was being increase to a 50% weapon drop rate, with the other 50% being a jewelry drop (and that this isn't currently working as claimed on the PTS). Did they increase this to 100% on weapons? I certainly hope so; I am getting really sick of spending all my game time on this arena.

We don't need anymore vMA threads. Just need to go back and read the old ones.We increased the set item drops in Maelstrom Arena to remove the chance of completing an arena and not getting a set piece. That was the take away from this change.
The Final Arena loot chest will drop a Weapon 50% of the time and a piece of Jewelry 50% of the time.
The Leaderboard reward will be a weapon 100% of the time AND a piece of Jewelry 50% of the time.
Hope that clears things up!
The Maelstrom Arena has made me have a strong hatred for this game, due to the numerous bugs and overall RNG involved with it. While I've completed it on both normal and veteran modes, I honestly can't see myself putting up with its bs over and over again. Not to mention how much it leans toward magicka builds. If all you have is a tank and or healer, you're not completing this dungeon. I'm sorry, but no. It's impossible. It's nothing but a DPS race.
So, yeah. In my opinion, it's best to just save yourself the frustration and not even be bothered with it. That's what I did after my completion of it, and I've slowly gotten back into enjoying the game. Even though RNG still causes me to take breaks from it, this game has not caused me nearly as much anger as to when I was trying to complete it on veteran.

If it was an actually 2 piece set that was beneficial for tanking, it might be one thing, but its not. It's decon fodder. The Resto staff is nice for a healer, but it's not game changing by any stretch. It helps with regen a little bit. Only a competitive DPS needs the weapons out of hear, and let's be clear, to be competitive, you need VMA weapons. So that I suppose at least makes some sense. Haha

With the spell power weapon enchants in the next patch I think that this will be less so. Right now, with the staff, you get the almost 200 spell power + about 1k dps from the wall of elements heavy / light attack thing. After the enchants you will really only get the 1k buff as the almost 200 spell power won't be much better than the spell power enchant. Sure, VMA weapons will still be BIS but not by the overwhelming amount of deeps they are now.
I say this not really knowing well the situation with the stam weapons and also realizing that the word on the street is that stam DK's will probably rule the roost by a substantial amount next patch given that some folks dps with them suggests they may already be #1 and are getting a big buff from both the poison thing and a general stam buff. I won't be surprised to see the 25k dps I am now pulling on my mag NB doubled by certain stam DK's. I may have to spend some time on mine especially since crafting bags will have unburdened her inventory.

I try to be a positive fanboy about this game, but the loot system is driving me mad. The sad thing is that its about to get worse. They are adding more traits to the loot table next patch which will make it even harder to get what you want. I almost wish they would simply remove armor and weapon traits from the game. At least then the RNG wouldnt be so bad and they playing field would be leveled.
What they need to do is implement a trait change mechanic at a minimum. Perhaps you can change one trait a week at the PVP vendor for 100k or something. Or give crafters the ability with some sort of rare drop. SOMETHING.
I have grinded every possible magic DPS set in the game save for the moon dancer jewelry (at least it seems to have a decent drop rate from VMOL and comes in a good trait). It is so frustrating to get what you want but have it in a trait the makes it TOTALLY WORTHLESS TO USE.
-I have my 5 piece scathing? Oh wait, not better than a crafted set because some of the pieces are well-fitted. TRASH
-Finally got my 2 Daggers from VMA for my stam build, oh wait, they are defending. WTF??? TRASH.
-Got my monster helms and shoulders in every weight you could want. But wait, not a good trait in medium or heavy so I am forced to wear crafted armor to run divines. TRASH.
-6/7 of my recent weekly rewards have been sword and board? Not even going to address the traits because the set itself is TRASH, because its not even a set. Its a mismatched pile of garbage that nobody uses.
Please do something, ZOS.

Dark Souls, you say? =D Gotta treat her like Havel the Rock. Get behind her, and keep strafing. When the adds spawn focused on the ranged first, and do everything you can to take them out quickly, then get back on her and stay behind her. If you stay behind her the chances of getting feared are reduced, and you should be using tripots to make sure you can pop one if your stam gets low and you can't break free.mistermutiny89 wrote: »I don't care about the drop rates, I just want to be able to complete the damn thing!!
I spent 6 hours the other night stuck on the fifth boss of which double and triple stuns you as you are feared away in the ice water. She is the most vicious boss I've ever faced.. And I'm a freaking Dark Souls player.
