Nah. Blizzard charges $25 for race and class changes (and that's ontop of your $15/mo sub fee). I suspect ZoS might do the same.

I believe if, or when they put it in, it'll be like 1,500 Crowns on the Crown Store. That way they can get more money to fill their already bloated wallets finance the game to make it better. :)

@Sinolai, those hybrid races sound pretty epic. Redguard stam sorc tank could happily drop the increased stam regen on kills for a HP or mitigation boost.
The more I think about it, the more I like it.

Race changes will actively encourage min/maxing, homogenisation of toons and increase the FotM going around. Not something that would bother me to much in PvE land, but imagine the absolute nightmare that will be unleashed on the programmers with every update when PvP isn't perfectly balanced.

Personally I would think it might engourage them to play with the racial passives in the future, in the name of "balancing", to get a certain kind of player to buy more race changes, over and over again...
You know what they say about fools and their money, right? ;)

Good thing I don't give two tugs of a dead... uhm... I probably better not use that particular quote on the forums.
Anyways, good thing I don't care about racial super-effectivenenss, and go for backstory instead. Which leads me to some combinations like a dunmer nightblade, argonian dragonknight or a nord sorceror... and I wouldn't change any of them for mere effectiveness sake. (though if they ever added new races... I could see my "thunder priest" become a "maormer stormcaller" instead... ;) )

I'd easily pay up to 200$ for a race change. I invested over a year of work in my character. It'd be worth it for me.

Hate to admit it, but I'd probably even pay for multiple race changes for the same character, to try various races every time I respec.

Anyways, good thing I don't care about racial super-effectivenenss, and go for backstory instead.

When I started playing ESO, I approached it pretty much the same as Skyrim, didn't care about builds or min/maxing at all, didn't even plan to ever reach veteran rank, since with the single player TES games I would usually start a new character whenever I got bored of the old one.

At some point I got hooked on the PVP combat system in this game, however, and I wanted to be more competitive to learn how to defeat the people who were killing me so easily. Once I practiced a bit and got into it, the math behind figuring out builds is pretty interesting and it's fun to try to come up with something creative.

The reason I'd pay to change race is because it takes so long to level up a new character, feed the mount, research traits, skill point quests, undaunted passive, etc. Been playing ESO for a long time, since 2013 and at this point I don't enjoy the leveling so much, plus I already have 8 slots filled. Would rather not delete my veteran rank Imperial sorc with max crafting and all the provisioning recipes learned if I want to try high elf for example.

This is only going to encourage FOTM builds! It is only a matter of time before all Nbs are Kajhiit, Dks are Dunmer, Sorcs are Altmer, and Temps are Imperial. Having that race continue to be unpredictable, not only forces you to be creative in bolsetring your weaknesses and utilizing your strengths, but it keep the game interesting as well. In pve and pvp, otherwise you are just going to see the same crap over and over again. It is already happening with things like vicious death, and proxy det and take flight in pvp. It sucks, and is incredibly boring. Talk about breaking immersion!

Though I am not worried, everyone keeps saying 'race changes are coming' but no one can point to any one single source. In fact if I remember correctly, in an ESO Live episode we were told that barbershop is coming but it will be purely cosmetic, it will not allow you to make any changes that will alter your stats, because they do not want to encourage flavor of the month builds." and THAT is almost a direct quote.

Can anyone point to anything that says otherwise? I am dead-serious, I want to be on the same page as everyone else on this. so please any and all info on the subject would be appreciated.

    Purely my opinion...

    Just roll a new character.

I don't know an MMO out there that allows you to so severely alter your character that even their base racial genetics are up for instant reassignment. Not even for money.

I'm not trying to flame anyone, but this just seems like a horrible idea to me.

    Again, purely my opinion.

Now that they are adding extra character slots, I can just make more characters where the race better fits the class. I made a handful of "fun" ones to start where I just was going for a look (like my Nord Templar The-Brave-Sir-Robin, or my Orc Templar Farfel-Farfel-Peppick). At least my Altmer Sorc, Redguard Dragonknight and Argonian and Khajiit Nightblades aren't too bad. When they majorly nerfed Argonians, I was wanting a race change, but just started a Khajiit instead. Now I just want more characters. The new rules on level 50s and being at CP cap for at least a couple more quarters means I can get them to an endgame level quickly. I could see wanting a race change if I saw a huge benefit and I hadn't matched up the character's name with their look.

Something they could do is perhaps sell an item in the crown store. Named something along the lines of "Blood Infusion"
Lets say you are an orc sorcerer, you want to keep your awesome appearance, but have the racial passives of a high elf for the extra magica and spell damage. As the orc passives are not designed for a magica user. After you purchase "High Elf Blood Infusion". and consuming the item your passives are permanently changed to that of a high elf. Sell an infusion for each race on the crown store. This would lead to more diversity, you could pick any race and role you want that appeals to you.

I play my Nord DK as a mage/rogue/warrior depending on my mood.

I dont decide my race based on their passives, that's stupid.
So my answer to Race change is : No I dont need it but I will welcome it if they do it.
If I die tomorrow I do not want to think of the game I could of played today, therefor I will play whatever I want today while securing a future to play in as well.

Same for me but I do not welcome it. Started with Nord because of Skyrim (no it wasn't my 1st TES game, Oblivion was and I was bosmer) I can respec my Nord DK into Stam/ Mag/ Light/ Med/ Heavy. Originally started as a Med, 2H Nord DK, wanted to Tank more so went 2h + SnB + Heavy. Orsinium came out and I sacrificed part of my 31K HP for more balanced spell and weapon damage. It was the 1st time I was able to solo pve content as a stam tank without it taking forever to kill enemies. Thieves Guild dropped and I went DW Medium (seemed appropriate, only instead of multiple stabs I just set enemies on fire) now I am back to pledges so Heavy Stam DK Tank w double SnB it is! In pvp I respec to be a Light Destro glass cannon. Kinda hard to proxy det me when I knock u down with giant fist and force pulse your face off in two hits at range! When I tackle Maelstrom and Trials I stay Destro for the range (never really liked the bow attacks) but put more into survival than damage.

Isn't this how you are supposed to play? I mean, I get there is no wrong way to play it, but how much fun does ^THAT^ sound?! How can I NOT be proud of my character's ability to adapt? Being able to turn racial passives on and off at will just disgusts me TBH. Think back to Oblivion, with the myriad of different classes and skills. You started out with racial strengths and weaknesses then you adapted your play style for the task at hand! THAT has always been a strength of TES games.

The fact is that the game changes. The Dark Elf stamina DK who was created with that race at least partially because of the Flame Talent passive will see the stamina morphs for abilities changed to poison damage in the next update. So, I guess they are "supposed" to change to magicka or accept a 7% damage decrease?

Any player has to adapt to changes in the game. But, not allowing that adaptation to include race changes when there are non-trivial components to game play wrapped up in the race you play doesn't make sense.

Ideally shouls nor be allowed or else having multiple characters feature will become fail.

Even if allowing to change race then it should be only allowed at certain levels I.e. not after level 25 or else I will start switching races too frequently as per needs to adjust according to PVE or PVP and there will no argonians or nords due to poor racial passives.

We will see mostly Breton's, imperials, Dunmers.

Recommendation is to not allow this change..

I'd much rather see racial passives change inplimented. I love the way my imperials look, but they are terribad at regen. Not to mention, why should I have to play as an ugly looking slave herder to get the most out of my DK? (/sarcasm)

Play the way I want while paying you. Seems a win win, really.
