Yeah a race change would definitely be appreciated. When I created my character back in 2014, I chose a wood elf. Only later did I realize that from a sorcerer perspective, that was a bad choice. So I'm missing out on some sweet magicka from the passive, and it's quite substantial as well.

Part of me thinks that this is the worst idea ever, catering to people that can't stand to lose or appear weaker than anyone else or who are so impatient at the character generator that they just click whatever or are too cheap to buy the pack that let's you play the race you want, where you want.

But then the rational part of my brain just says "lol, let them spend all their money chasing the new meta every month. IDGAF."

I play Argonian because I like to be different. YMMV.

Indeed, they mentioned in ther latest Year Ahead post that:
Longer term, expect to see information about systems like a character customization shop so you can change your character's gender, appearance, name, etc., player housing, and other systems that we'll announce in the future. We'll have much more information about all of these as the year progresses.
And race change will indubiately come hand-in-hand or in the wake of this recustomization feature.

    So... patience. It will come.

Though of course... many of us want it...

Of course, since you joined in December of 2014, you realize that: (1) some passives changed for the worse in the buff system implementation; (2) defenses are for some classes tied to a classes primary stat; and (3)removal of softcaps followed by the removal of hardcaps resulted in +%primary stat being far and away the best bonus to be had.

It's human nature to want to win. The racial passive disparity is akin to playing tennis with a ping pong paddle while your opponent uses a racket.

I hoped for a long time they'd balance races somewhat, so Every race is not equal, but atleast has something Nice, well last patch with the "balancing" of argonian passives shattered that dream completely, /facepalm zos

especially because the balance swings so massively between stamina and magicka each patch, completely disenfranchising half the population with every major patch.

    Yeah,
    - a lot of characters were created when the soft caps were in place, when you used to pick a race because you like it and not because of the numbers.
    - some of the racial passives were changed.
    - they are continuously shifting the meta back and forth from magic to stamina - all my stam characters are put on shelf for the next 4 months.

Even if you pick up your races today you might need to change all of them when the next meta comes.

Should have put it in with the IC patch, if not with console launch.

With how much combat systems have changed over the years, how critical racials are to performance and how much grinding there is to get a character maxed out there's a huge potential profit if they don't lose their entire veteran playerbase before they get around to it.

People who have been around a long time, the ones with maxed characters built for previous patches, are leaving rather than rerolling the same class.

Should be done now, first priority, get it into the next patch IMO.

They have promised this at the same time they re-work racial abilities.

It took them over 6 months to work out 6% health is <> 9% health (they have yet to work out health < Magic so giving 9% health but 10 % magic is crap)

As such I suspect 3 years to get new Racials is about right.

Khajiit sorc, let everyone else chase their tails after a meta that will shift after every patch. They can fund the next dlc.

Once race changes are released, Zos still has every right to continue changing passives for balance. I can't wait to see the whining the day race changers realize that passives aren't going to always stay the same and they'll have to either stick with what they chose or buy their way through another race change and another.... /popcorn

Matching race to play style was the first thing I researched before creating my first characters. No way I'd run a Bosmer or Orc sorcerer. It's between Altmer and Breton, and since I don't like elves (they're uppity), I went with Breton.

When I decided that I should have a sneaky Nightblade character, there wasn't a chance that I'd pick a Nord or an Orc. Now of course I have friends who are Nords, and I've even played cards with an Orc or two who didn't cheat (as much as I did), but let's face it. With the amount of noise they make lumbering through a room, these aren't the races you want to have stealing some kingdom's crown jewels. For that, you want either a Bosmer or a Khajiit, and, as I said, I don't like elves. So I made a Khajiit.

    Khajiit like to sneak anyway.

we shouldnt have to do online research to know what class passives are.. im sure 100's of people would of chose differently if the class passives were stated in character creation screen
