Character Appearance Change Seriously

    2) Allow name change. As this affects the system, I would be willing to pay crowns for this.

    3) Allow race change. Now this would be complicated so I would expect to pay crowns for this and would expect there to be a significant cool-down (e.g., a year) between changes.
    .

This year, maybe with DB update. Most likely a crown store thing.

    SoonTM

Ha. 8 months later... no dice. But what do I care? I stopped playing and cancelled my sub months ago solely because I lost the desire to play my fugly looking character. V16, max crafting in everything with 9 traits learned on everything. You want me to reroll? No thanks.

I just stopped by to see if maybe the character appearance change feature was finally added with the Thieves Guild. Nope. You know it's really sad when you see newer MMO'S already offering this feature. Sawl good though. Just wanted to swing by and see how my post was doing and got a pretty good laugh. Still pretty relevant for an 8 month old post though. Lol.

    1) The ability to edit appearance and only pay gold...
The "pay only gold" part would ensure it happens even later. Less profit = less priority.
Personally I would not mind paying crowns, though I might hope that they would allow "everyday changes" like getting a new hairstyle or changing makeup/warpaint/adornments for a gold cost, and keep the crown payments for "structural changes" like body shape, facial structure, voice, skin color, etc.
But the feature itself is something I too want, a lot!

    2) Allow name change...
Character name change from some registry clerk in your faction capital is certainly something I want as well. Just give them a bag full of crowns as bribe, and they might "update the official records with a new name"... (or for more 'fun', and possibly a bit of madness, you might have to "file the correct paperwork", and get sent from one NPC to another for half an hour filling out forms until the last "Permit A-38" is missing... which then can only be bought in the crown store... ;) )
    jellicles wrote: »
    3) Allow race change...
That one would be a logical addition to any character recustomization feature, and not too difficult to do at that, as I would expect it to include a full appereance redo as well (after all, if you change from argonian to dunmer, who's to say the slider positions that made a pretty lizard maid would add up to decent elf looks?). I would not expect it to have a cooldown though... just a higher cost instead. If people pay 25 $ worth of crowns per race change, they might be somewhat reluctant to change every month... and if they'd do it regardless, well, more money in ZOS warchest to pay for new content all the sooner...
    jellicles wrote: »
    4) Allow alliance change...
Alliance change is a bit iffy with quest progression, a can of worms that could easily be avoided tby making completion of all cadwells a prerequesite.
Also, I would hope that if it ever comes (I dimly remember them mentioning in some ESO live that they are thinking about that one - not yet decided on it, but also not yet decided against it) then they might do it better then just "pay crowns, pop over to desired faction"; but instead with an proper and epic questline... starting with a "loyalty called in question" theme, and leading to a big chgoice in the first part of the questline - stay loyal to your alliance and find out who framed you (which wopuld then be the remainder of the questline); or defect to greener pastures, court your desired new home, bring something to make it worth for them to take you in, and escape before the spyhunters of your homelands catch you (which would then be the rest of the questline)... bonus points for involving well known NPCs. I mean, come on, who wouldn't love to slam a porticullis shut into Razum-dars face before hopping on a boat bound towards Morrowind with Naryu? ;)
There might also be titles for this... stay loyal and gain "(original faction) Loyalist" title, run elsewhere and get "(original faction) Defector" title instead... lindering drawbacks for becoming a "traitor" could also be added to PvP... like... gaining only half AP (since noone trusts a traitor, not even their new allies) and giving triple AP to any of your original allaince that kill you (since traitors would live with an bounty?). And of course... the whole questline would be started by reading a certain letter... where did you get that letter? From the crown store!

If you replace the word "soon" with "in a couple of years if your lucky and if we feel like it," it would all make sense.

I don't think I'll be playing this game until they add these basic features. Already cancelled my sub a couple months ago. Just tired of my characters. I'd reroll em cept for they're 8-9 trait crafters.

One of the reasons Character Recustomization is a good thing - sometimes people just get to that "meh" feeling about their characters, a chance to redo them can help to breathe new life into such. Of course, having more and new options to focus on also would be a good thing in that regard (but that are different topics, to be discussed elsewhere).
Not to mention, when you redo a character, half the time you might also end up buying nre stuff for the redone character to match those new perfect looks you just changed to... Come on ZOS, you are missing out on profit here... ;)

In SWTOR for example, I've dumped so much of that game's equivalent of Crowns, in just recustomizing my characters. Like with this game, you get them by subbing. Just recently, I changed one of my characters' skin color, hair color, and hair style. Not because I didn't like them, but because I wanted something new. I've race changed, or just done minor changes like I mentioned.

As dumb as it sounds, there are small things about my main character in this game that bother me enough to stop playing for a while. She's got little baby hands. It's fine when I see her from the front or back, but when I notice her hands from the side, it really bothers me. Then I can't stop noticing them. And it keeps bothering me more and more, until I log out and stop playing for a couple weeks.

I really hope that the appearance customization allows for everything you get in the initial character creator (maybe minus sex or name change). I dont just want hairstyles or tattoos or piercings, my khajiit needs a whole new fur pattern and facial reconstruction.

You are not the only one... I also have some characters like that, one sorceror boy with an imperfect hip shape that looked all right in chargen, not so great when running... and some other details here and there across my characters... I really, really would drop a load of crowns to get my characters -just right- and I am getting more and more vexed that I cannot do so already. I mean... the barbershop has been announced since, what, fall 2014?

Definitely that. Plus gender and character name change, for those who pay extra for those. And then... new option packs in the crown store. More hairstyle choices. More makeup choices. More beard choices! More tatoo choices. More adornment choices! Cross-species skin/hair color options. Structural "exceed slider" options to make your very own "titanborn" nord, or hulk-muscular orc... I'd spend soo many crowns on this...

    yes yes and more yes

also, add better beard options, for example

nothing but the full on tramp beard has the moustache and chin beard connect
    THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE

add better beard options, starting all that are avaible in skyrim, then add even more, to EVERY RACE NOT JUST HUMANS, I GET SO SICK OF MMO AND RPG COMPANIES THAT DO NOT ALLOW ELVES TO HAVE BEARDS, SO I IMPLORE YOU TO NOT FALL INTO THAT HORRIBLE, AWFUL, DISGUSTING NICHE IF AND WHEN YOU DO ADD MORE BEARD OPTIONS

Rejoice then, because in TES lore, elven males can have stylish beardedness all over their faces! And if ZOS does things as I hope, they might someday be able to upgrade those beards to sai sahan style of beardishments!

Great, now I want to make an wizened dark elf pyromancer wizard character with bald head and a huge white sai sahan style beard... ;) Oh, well, more character slots are coming, so maybe one day...

    Hehehehehe,

I was wondering about this too. What an OCD, but would like to re-sculpt my Dragon-knight, just a bit.

I was more about trying to fine-tune my character creation process, and I must admit it ain't easy.

I would pay a decent deal of money to be able to redo the way my Templar look.
  • J011Y_R063R
I personally have talked about this a few times with my guild and fiance. I think that if people want to change their characters appearance it should be available for "X-crowns" and if they want to change their race it should be available for "Y-crowns". While changing appearance could change things like sex, hair, skin color, etc the race change option would be accessible for people who made their character for one thing (Stam NB/DK/Temp) but had way too much fun playing the other way (Mag NB/DK/Temp). These people shouldn't have to start a whole new character for not knowing how the game worked prior to playing it. Also it would create a LOT of revenue for ZOS and could potentially pay for them to put in a customer support PHONE NUMBER and stop making me rip my hair out for 6 days while we fix a 30 sec issue... I'm ranting all over myself sorry.
But yes i think the character appearance change for crowns would be nice and a race change for more crowns would be fantastic.

You may even be able to make it to where these players can only change to a race they have unlocked that way maybe those players that did not have access to a Imperial edition any race any faction content could get it and not have to play the whole game over for it to still be useful. Creating more revenue for that as well.

For more on my thought see TheShadowScout's post above because he apparently is taking my ideas from my brain and making them better before posting.

I'm with everyone here I suppose. I'll just state what I am thinking. Here's what I want:
    • A hair-changing only barber shop system that uses in-game gold. Often, that's all I want because I get bored with a hairstyle.
    • An option in-game to edit your appearance of your character. All of it. that also is just in-game gold, though more than for hair only, and doesn't let you change anything else about your character.
    • Crown shop item to change your character's race.
    • Crown shop item to change your character's class.
    • Crown shop item to change your character's name. And can I please ask for it not be required to unique across the whole server? Why can't in the database it be tied to our overall account instead? C'mon, you guys at ZoS are really smart to have figured out things like the crafting bag and the new champion point system for post-level 50 play. Are you telling me it's really impossible to do this and that you just can't figure out how to make it work? For us, it's basically impossible to come up with a good name because everything you can think of has been used and most of it abandoned. I spent more time trying names on my characters than making their faces, and I spent untold hours making their faces, very often losing them because of that illogical, very, VERY fast timeout when you are in the naming form.
No alliance change, ever. That just would ruin everything.
