Character Appearance Change Seriously

Seriously, when can we expect a character appearance change feature? I've actually lost the desire to log on and play for some time now. Changing my character's appearance would bring new life into him and get me back into Tamerial. I'm Veteran Rank 11 and work a lot so re-rolling is a big nope for me.

At launch on PC there was a glitch during early access where you couldn't zoom in on your character's face during character creation. Combine that with the dark chamber in the Coldharbour prison cell and well...you can imagine that my main isn't the hottest Imperial roaming the lands. I also play this same character on Xbox One via the Character Transfer so yeah I would certainly appreciate the ability to fork over some gold to change my appearance. I would appreciate it even further if you weren't forced to buy it in the crown store but that's probably a battle for another day.
I don't always drink Skooma, but when I do I go to the Southwall Corner Club. May you walk on warm sands my friends.

Same with me. I made a new character on Xbox One despite transferring from PC and created and deleted to try to get my character just right and it got to the point where I couldn't delete anymore characters because of some cooldown mechanic. I didn't want to wait 24 hours so I stuck with it and got to V11 with all crafting max levels. Been achievement hunting and what not so starting over again is a ridiculous assumption. I made a feeble, old looking sorcerer which is cool imo but now I want to try some duel wield, physical builds and having my character look the way he currently does actually deters me from trying different builds and my interest in playing him.

I brought this up on a different post, I would love to see this implemented.

My current prediction: ZOS will give this to us in 2016, possibly Update 9. It will not be what a lot of people envisioned. It will be buggy and lack obvious functionality, and include limitations that will annoy some people, but ZOS will consider it good enough to release. They will fix some of the bugs over the year that follows, but they won't take a second look at missing functionality for a very long time.

This is just opinion based on past features placed into the game.

ZOS, this feature should have been in at launch.

I understand why we only have 3 character deletes, but between that and not having a barber shop/appearance modifier/etc. it makes for a real pain in the tail getting your character to look the way you want it to.

We need an "Oblivion" style option, where - just before you exit the starting area - you're given the option to modify yout toon's appearance one final time. It allows you to see what your character looks and sounds like in action before being stuck with it.

Please, please, PLEASE make this happen. I have 4 toons on my account that I created today TRYING to get my idea to look the way I envisioned. Guess I'll have to wait for those deletes to recharge.

I hope the implement an appearance change. Not that my character is ugly, or even see able though his armour its just... It would feel more immersive if we could change hair, adornment and body/face markings.

They're working on it, unfortunately we don't know when it's expected to be available though. I suspect we will not know until very close to the actual date, as it's more of a 'quality of life' improvement, hence deemed classically 'not a priority'.
If you can be anything, be kind.

I know, but it was such a vague comment that it's being worked on. What are their ideas on implementing this in the game? Will we be able to change everything about our character, including height and body size? When can we expect to see this feature? By the end of the year? Sometime 2016? Will new character creation features be added like hairstyles, adornments and body markings?

On a slightly-related tangent, I'm wondering if a costume designer might be something they've considered?

The reason I ask is that there's a TON of clothing you can launder (double entendre HEAVEN) via the fences in the outlaws' refuges. But they're single, wearable pieces and not full costumes.

It makes me wonder if they plan to add some sort of "appearance tab" or another way to combine these individual pieces into a full costume for the costume slot.

Or maybe they're just there to keep us role-players happy.

    Anyway, just wondering!

    :)

I know exactly what your talking about. It would be cool if you could transform individual pieces of gear to look like another item you have. Also, it would be nice if we could dye our costumes.

Features like this should have definitely been available at launch. As well as a cosmetic tab instead of just the singular appearance tab that you get.

I've bought some of the crown appearances and really regret that decision now.

I love customization though, and I think that the online community as a whole does. We like to changes things, dependent upon how we feel.

    Hi guys,

Here, quoting a recent post from Jessica Folsom:
We are working on implementing a character recustomization tool (you'll often see people on the forums refer to it as a "barber shop.") It's a fairly complicated undertaking and we want to do it right, so it's taking some time, but we are indeed working on it.

Then comes the cosmetic character customisation options to the crown store right?

Seriously though, when you do add them (because every game has) please give the male characters some better long hair options.

I've heard info like this a few times before from admins but it's always pretty vague. When you say "barbershop," does that mean we'll be able to change our face and body dimensions? Or will this feature really just be a traditional barbershop where we can only change our hair and adornments? Also, can we get a rough idea when we can expect to see it? Q4? 2016 Q2?

    Please make it reasonable pricing...

Plenty of older games have added this feature and they have done a good job of it. don't screw this up.

it's not complicated...developers are lazy by nature . so of course they are going to say it's complicated.

Look at Secret World...you go into a single instance room - make all your changes - you can even see yourself in a mirror...

if you can even do half a good a job as Funcom did, I'd be satisfied....although that's setting the bar pretty low to only do half as good a job...but there you go...it's the american culture of giving trophies for last place..hence all the lazy developers.

I mean seriously...if you can't even manage to do a barber shop in game.

just add an option in the login to go back to the customize panel when creating a new character...nobody gives a crap about how ti's implemented. just make it happen....

lazy, arrogant game designers/programmers....so tired of them

I agree. The Secret World did it wonderfully, that's probably the benchmark for character re-customisation.

Just let us buy a token or whatever that enables us to recreate the character on a future login. Nothing complicated as it would be using mechanics that are already in place today.

Hell, the customer support is even able to mark your character to enable a rename on next login so how can it be so hard to make this recreation for characters possible?

There is no need to visualize an actual barber shop etc.

It's no rocket science if you ask me and being a developer myself I cannot think of any reason why this should take them more than 6 months now as this feature should be in the works at least since TU release back in march (if not way earlier already) as this is like the most frequently requested feature for the crown store...

Totally agree. Just let us pay for a revisit to the character creation screen. Hopefully they aren't planning on putting in a barbershop with Thieves Den DLC in Spring 2016. If that's the case, just give us a scroll for now and later add some fancy barbershop with new hairstyles, adornments, etc...

I posed it elsewhere, but... lemme repost my thoughts and dreams on this matter again:

    I would like to see...

    - a barbershop in every major city, where people can do "everyday" changes like hairstyle, makeup, adornments for a mere gold cost... (for that matter, I would like to see a gold price tag for using the dye stations as well... not much, just enough to make it seem more like a business and less like some free feature...)

    - a "plastic sorcery" mage hidden in some faraway place (coldharbour, maybe?) that provides "structural" changes like body shape, skin color, voice, gender and even race through magery and alchemy for a crown cost depending on choice magnitude (as in, culmulative crown cost adding up to a total for every slider moved or other change made, to be paid when satisfied, instead of a flat cost to enter recustomization screen)...

    - a "recordkeeper" clerk in every faction capital who will "update the official records" with a new name for your character if you just file the correct paperwork. Said paperwork to be purchased in the crown store...

    - more options showing up in the crown store, from an "epic beard pack" (I remember some people being all jelous of sai sahans beardedness) to more hair styles, perhaps even structural options (like, say, a "titanborn" feature for nords that allow them to exceed the current height slider and RP as some distant relative of Lyris...)

    - even more options not showing up in the crown store, but unlockable through in-game achievements much like dyes. Adornments, tatoos, hairstyles, whatever... give more and more people a good reason to use that barbershop...

    - and perhaps... even an splitting of sliders, to allow male characters to have beards -and- adornments, I recall a few remarks about this floating around now and then...

I'd also like to see a separate colletions tab for jewelry
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis
