Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Hmm a lot of changes and around 30-ish days to test it all. This a good idea?

I'm looking forward to jumping on the pts and testing stuff, but I really wish ZOS would dedicate more time to fixing things and making them actually function as intended.

When this game first launched there were incremental patches weekly to fix stuff. Now those fixes are few and far between. I understand they need to generate income by giving people something to spend money on, but they should make sure the content we already have is working fine first.

Thirty-seven days to test over forty pages worth of changes. I can't wait to see what they break this time.

Keep in mind that a big function of the PTS is hype/PR. The pattern is to surprise people with it (HEY IT'S COMING OUT TOMORROW!!!), do some Twitch casts with devs, promote player streams doing the new DLC, etc. Some bugs are caught and fixes started from PTS feedback, the rest are caught when they are exposed on live, no ETA on when those will be fixed. Check back when the next incremental patch drops.

Optimist or pessimist or "who-gives-a-crap"-ist, this is the current model; so like it or not, think it works well or not, that's how it's going to go.

I have seen Devs mention that various bug fixes were coming with the next major game update... including the 'sprinting' bug. I'm guessing that many of the bugs were not something they could simply hotfix, so they had to wait until a major patch. Several times they've discussed how they can't make major changes with a hotfix, that there are numerous things that go into a bug fix and many times hotfixes just wouldn't be possible- so those have to be included in a major update.

You don't need a major patch to release a small patch. They just don't have the backend system to bring it down quickly and bring it back up quickly.

Pure laziness and puts perspective into how long they're willing to let things stay broken.

Nice to know you're a game developer, perhaps you should send the devs your resume so you can help them out.

Oh, you're one of those types who fall back to this stupid argument.

Having played MMOs for many years and seeing how other developers can push small patches when they need to, I don't have to be a game developer to know this is possible.

I work in IT. I know it is more than possible to take server offline for small amounts of down time to push a patch. You do not need to develop games to know this.

Agreed. This feels like they're trying to rush it out. Slow down, guys. Please :/

They got deadlines to meet :) I think a month is quite a lot of time, given the enthusiasm of PTS users for uncovering bugs/exploits/broken content. I just hope ZOS has enough manpower to deal with this feedback.

not only that but listen to the feed back instead of being heard & sometimes neglected

Here's the thing. ZOS always does this. Enough time to build up hype. Not enough time to change anything major.

PTS is more like "Here is what you are going to get. We are going to pretend to listen to your ideas, but then do what we want anyway."

I was surprised when I saw DB is launching May 31st on PC. Seems to me they should put this stuff on PTS for more than 30 days. I mean to meet their schedule they have until the end of June. I hope this works out better than last time.
Don't worry, ZOS will ignore all PTS feedback anyways and just launch the DLC with an internal version that was never tested on the PTS.

How do i know? Because that's what they have done with any major PTS test release all the way back to the PC launch.

A lot of people have said they should extend the DB testing on the PTS for longer than 30 days. But honestly if you look at how most players use the PTS, players are not there to test for bugs or give feedback. Players hop on the PTS to find game mechanics they can use or exploit, and find the best places places to grind, loot, etc. With this DLC, people will be trying new setups for their charactors post VR and testing the best uses and defences for poison. We might actually see player feedback concerning those two aspects of the DB update. So if they have 30 days or 300 days of PTS, the results will be more or less the same.

I guess that is prob what ZOS is thinking when it comes to the length of testing
