Asking for gold to leave someone alone when they are grinding in IC

Killing someone over and over and over and then demanding gold from them to stop doing it goes against it. It "causes distress and ruins the other users' experience" which is forbidden by 2.5.

So I was in IC grinding on mobs when I found this 1 player constantly killing me over and over again. I asked for him to please stop killing me and to let us grind. He proceeded to tell me to send him 20K gold for each member in my group and only then he would leave us alone. Does this sound like a part of the game that should be allowed to happen? Has this ever happened to anyone else?
Unfortunately, being a prick is not an exploit.

I'm not entirely convinced it constitutes a violation of the ToS. But the OP can report him and see if anything happens.

Honestly, the best defense against this kind of behavior is friends. You're in an MMO, make friends. Help them out when the need it. Volunteer to lend them a hand. Be there for them. You know, treat them like ... friends.

Then, when something like this happens, tell the other player to wait for a moment while you get some money together. Meanwhile, go your friends list and call on an many as you can find online. Even if only two or three show up, odds are you can make the player wish they'd asked for a lot less money.

Remember: "If you prick us do we not bleed? ... And if you wrong us shall we not revenge?" (Shakespeare, Shylock in The Merchant of Venice.)

Yesterday I went to Cyrodil to collect skyshards. I didn't go to PvP, just to collect skyshards. I went to one of the dungeons (don't remember which one), and while I was in there someone killed me before I could get the skyshard. I respawned and went back to the dungeon in an attempt to collect the skyshard. The same player killed me again. I repeated this process one more time, and again died by the same player. Does this constitute harassment?

I would say I'm a bad player just had V1 gear and didn't want to make gear for V15 and i had 1/2 a level to go to V16.

You just described exactly what makes someone a bad player. VR15 wearing VR1 gear. Talk about being underpowered and underprotected.

Not the killing over and over part. The asking for gold part is the violation, as that is deliberate extortion, which is monetary harassment.

On what *** planet is it harassment to be killed by an enemy player in a zone where it is rewarded behavior to kill enemy players?

If you can't win, go do something else for a few hours. Because normally you'd just be dead and feeding the ants and maggots. What's next, are you going to go report that world boss for being too hard? That gravity for being too unforgiving? That treasure chest for being too masterful?

    I mean, ***.

See Its not the Fact that He killed me. Its the fact that he was trying to get money to stop. Yes i have more then just this toon V16. and didn't see the point.

This isn't the only toon i have at V16. i just didn't see the point of making gear for 2hrs of grinding.

Harder to prove, but still technically counts as a violation due to their vague words.

Im confused by this thread... Maybe im not getting the facts right... So let me try to reconfirm.

    1. OP grinding in IC sewers with friends.
    2. Ganker comes to kill them while they are farming.
    3. They try to grind again>ganker kills again>they grind again>ganker kills again for x number of times
    4. OP wants to be left alone so messages grinder to go away.
    5. Ganker wants to gank but OP wants ganker to go away so ganker requests that OP send gold
    6. OP reports him

uhhhhh.. I hate to break it to you OP but at least this ganker offered to leave you alone for gold. When I head to IC and see a group of enemies farming I make it my personal mission to obliterate all their efforts. I dont quit. I dont stop. I dont respond to pms. I dont respond to hate/bait tells. I just... Kill. Again and again and again.... Until the farmers either give up or change campaign or head to somewhere where I cant find them.

Its the same thing as you running from 1 keep to the other in cyro and u get killed by a ganker. Instead of taking another path, or being more careful, you ride down the same path again and get killed again by the same ganker. Happens X number of times. Do you think you can report this ganker??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!

    Here's some solutions. You seem to have been in a group. So if you know a ganker is around there's a few things you can do;

    1. caltrops entrances/exits
    2. Have someone run RML and a hard CC.
    3. Save your ults. Gankers almost always work alone or in pairs. This means they are outnumbered. Ult bomb them. If its a big group of gankers.... then im afraid you have to run or gather more numbers.
    4. Put 1 or 2 players on guard duty. Ie: their sole purpose is to watch your backs and CC bomb gankers who jump you.
    5. If you cant PvP, and a ganker has taken a liking to your group, farm somewhere else.

Reporting someone for ganking you is not going to do anything... You are in a PvP zone. If a ganker does kill you again and again then pm hate/mocking tells to you then yes, that would constitute harassment. Him/her killing you again and again cos you guys make it easy for them does not constitute harassment lol.

It's not nice to happen to you, I agree. But unfortunately you're in a pvp zone and it should be expected.

Him asking for gold to leave you alone? It's not something you have to comply with. He/she is just being clever about it. I believe that your reporting will just be forgotten about as no one is really cheating or exploiting..

I suppose you can make a case to the devs about how he may be intentionally extorting you, but that will only work if its apparent that he's camping your grinding spot for the sole purpose of stopping your grind (as opposed to say, getting PvP kills for AP).

if you kill the same person over and over, you stop getting AP, so no, this is not a kill for AP.

Its really not bullying because after 5 minuted the AP on that person reset. So you keep killing him until you get no more AP then you bank the stones you received,go back wait 5 minuted so they can gather more stones and start killing them again see easy way to keep the AP and TV following.

Also its not bullying its a game dude PVEr stop taking everything as a personal offense. Its not against the law for a PVPer to kill you just get good bruh.

Your post is not valid. In a PVP zone if you aren't prepared, you die. If the person who killed you finds you and kills you again and again while you are in a PVP zone, you will die again and again. If you don't want to deal with that, don't play in a PVP zone. End of story.

And in my opinion, the other person offering the OP the chance to be left alone for 20k gold is actually a huge courtesy. He did not have to offer that. Very nice of him :)

Thank you and have a good day, bye bye now :)

Unfortunately OP griefers exist. Fortunately though you stop getting xp from someone after killing that same person a certain number of times so he's just wasting his time if he is constantly killing you while you have little to no TV Stones.

Yea if you have to call in a zerg to kill one person it shows that you suck when it takes more then 6 people to kill me and more then half that group consist of people I killed,it makes my day and gives me a good laugh.

Side note:I love when people do that because then they push the center and that's when I call in a guildmate or two and bomb them when they fighting a boss or just finished up a portal.

Also dont get me wrong OP. Im not laughing at you or your predicament. However, I am informing you of more realistic expectations. Most times, pm-ing a ganker to ask him/her to leave you alone is just going to encourage them to come at you again. Even more so if the sole reason they are doing it is to *** you off. Either be more prepared to kill them when they show up, get friends to help or just find a different spot to farm at. Reporting is just going to waste 15 minutes of your time. I assure you.

However, if someone sends you hate tells with demeaning messages then go right ahead and report. That is clearly against TOS. However, killing you in cyrodiil, Im afraid, is not. As for the gold part, its the same as those zone sellers that try to rip off people in major cities like rawl during off peak hours. I saw someone trying to sell items for x5 of what they go for. Ive seen some of my friends get ripped off during trade cos they didnt check the trade window properly etc etc. Kinda hard to report any of these successfully because the fault is always yours for not being careful. The same thing when he asked you for gold to leave you alone. If you dont pay him, he isnt going to make any gold...
