I had to look it up - HEMA = historical European martial arts - so this is mostly medieval combat, isn't it?

I guess it has potential - with rapidly rising population the number of deaths will as well rise - eventually a boom industry, especially given that in the western world the peak for older citizen will be around 2030 with a lot of them dying thereafter.

Pretty much. Right now currently it's around a fifteen BILLION dollar industry. But it has some things on it's bad side, so I want to actually get a mortuary license where I can stand up and talk about those things since there's politics involved. But that's not the only reason! I just find death to be the most interesting aspect of life, especially the history of it. Like the Middle Ages! Though I tend to love the Victorian Era's mourning jewelry. Why we stopped doing that in the mainstream is beyond me.

Even it has some similarities with kendo, I think that bokken are handled in a much different way than I see in this video with long swords - did you ever consider kendo as a sport for you or are you just interested in european sword fighting techniques?
Which is the origin of the expression "saved by the bell".IndyWendieGo wrote: »IndyWendieGo wrote: »I work two jobs! Coding for database builds aaaaaaaaand crematory operator. Eventually going to be shifting my career more into the funeral industry, so I had to start somewhere. :P

Well, just as well as we stopped to implement bells on graves - in the victorian age those were quite common, people were afraid to be buried alive and the bell would have given them the opportunity to ring it, in the case they'd wake up buried alive.
