Okay I'll start, I work 2 part time jobs: I work as an EMT on the ambulance, and I work in the ER as a PCT. Other than that I'm in school full time for my Bachelors degree in Biomedical Sciences. Now it's your turn :-)

I am learning from nature, study it's principles and try to apply those to technical applications like autonomous drones. We work as well with some nano-technology like aerogel and solgel in applications able to power capable flying drones by solar. This stuff is very light-weight and currently we can power a 1:3 scale glider (scaled down from a 21m class glider) to stay airborn for a full day just by solar power. It powers up like reptiles do it (those are basically solar-driven animals), lying in the sun until it has enough energy to launch, stay airborn for a full day and come back in the evening and land on it's own.

We are still working hard to make it use thermic conditions like birds do it, using complex adaptive systems to make them learn how to do it on their own - basically it is kind of natural intelligence, not AI, because it does not have to understand anything, but creates solutions by adapting to the problems, guided by a fitness function. This is the actual hard part of the whole procedure, to find a good fitness function, which can be processed in real time. All other is just let the drone make it's own experiences and learn by itself. We use as well pairs of connected complex adaptive systems to achieve a probabilistic form of the scientific method - our drones learn like naturally intelligent beings - but without to have to understand anything.

Education-wise I come from Biotechnology - masters in Biochemistry and Bioinformatics.
