Tava's Favor an interesting tanking set

hrothbern

✭✭✭✭✭
After some better testing:

Tava's Favor grants 9 Ultimates per Dodge (active or from Evasion) over a period of 3 seconds.

And also triggers the normal 3 Ultimates per second, starting from the first 3 Ultimate tick of Tava's Favor .

Still interesting for tanks or solo builds but not as great as my original post below :'(

Theocrafting:

It looks like almost a doubling of Ultimate gain for Tanks.
So I did some testing in PTS:

Evasion (from MA or Blur) triggers it with dodges for 36 Ultimate per dodge during 12 seconds (3 per tick).
Procs overlap, meaning that if you dodge within those 12 seconds, the proc is reset, for another 12 seconds duration, generating a steady 3 Ultimates per second.
On top of the base 3 Ultimates per second.

Against 1 opponent you will not get 100% steady state.
(with every 2 seconds an attack of 1 opponent with 20% dodge chance, you have >80% chance that you proc in time the next 12 seconds)
But a tank engaged being attacked by 2 or more opponents will fuly benefit.

I think that a DK Tank will benefit most of the faster Ultimate gain.

A NB Tank relatively less (no Battle Roar !).

Uptime Warhorn 100% or so.

It is literally like Blood Spawn's big brother, it is only 5pc, it is not granting you armor and spell resistance, but in return it do what it must - granting ultimate. (for small-scale pvp ;) )

Since you seemed to test it extensively, I will ask: Can the set proc multiple times? For example, if I dodge in second 1, then in second 2, will I gain 12 ultimate (1ult tick from second 1 then 9 ultimate from 3 ticks from second 2) or 18 (9 ult from first proc, 9 ultimate from second proc)?

Nope. The best what it can do is to double your ultimite regen if it procs every 3 seconds.
    Because I can!

Yep, since dodge proc major heroism buff, you getting major heroism and tava proc = double ultimate receiving that make you feel yourself like an emperor. An old good 1.0 time

Would be awesome to combine this with 5pc Bahraha's set as well (not sure if it's possible since I don't know which sets have jewelry). As a NB, you could slot Soul Harvest for Ult gain on kills on your main bar and use Meteor on your off-bar to fire off when reading and return ult on hit, while using Mirage/Double Take for dodge buff (and also chug potions to gain 20 ultimate every 45 seconds).

I tested it indeed with 1,2,3,4,5 mobs.
Whereby noted that not every attack is dodgeable and procs.
To see if it could proc multiple times I tested it very long with 5 mobs: 3 simple melee no heavy attacks and 2 casters. No archers, no uppercuts etc.

When you dodge and the set procs you gain the status Tava's favor, that has a duration of 3.0 seconds. You see that nicely in your FTC, among your other status buffs like Evasion etc.
In that 3 seconds you get every 3 seconds a tick for 3 additional Ultimates: 3x3=9 in total.
During those 3 seconds you cannot reset status Tava's favor, ALSO if you have several dodges in a cluster 1 second after another.

So the best that can happen is that right after you lose the Tava's Favor status, you dodge and get a proc: in that case you have 6 subsequent seconds the additional Ultimates.

So you can NEVER get higher than 3 additional Ultimates per second, even if you are in the midst of 10+ mobs.

Between 5 mobs, my additional Ultimate gain was about 80-100 per minute.

Hope that answers you question :)

    Have you seen this thread?

Admittedly, it's a rather contrived demonstration, on nWGT (not vet), very high mob density, and Shooting Star to supplement the ult regen. But it does synergize well with Battle Roar.

Evasion from Medium Armor will bring you more dodges
(you could use Armor Master and Evasion)

As NB you can use Blur

The set has an internal cooldown of 3 seconds. With a ton of luck you could have 100% uptime. I tested this set extensively as a tank in both solo and group play.

This is not a tanking set... at all. Well, at least not endgame tanking; though, it does make solo play quite a bit easier when you pair it with Bloodspawn, Heroic Slash, and Take Flight.

Well, at least it provides some fun when it procs.

For vWGT or vICP u dont even need heavy armor (or Armor Master+Footman) as a tank. Also Manti has been tanked in medium without much effort.

This set seems fun and there are still situations where this can be pretty nice since its craftable ^^

I'm wondering if it's worth using on a vampire nightblade.

-Devouring Swarm - 150 ultimate (devouring so you can dodge attack's and heal)
-30 ultimate per kill (with soul harvest on main bar)
-20 ultimate when you use a potion

I'm wondering how easy it would be to get another Bat Swarm with this set. This set may trim down the number of kill's needed to refresh bat swarm by 1 or 2.

Pair this set with the healing debuff set and your a deadly foe.

If actually tested this on PTS. If you run regen food, you have hella survivability. Whats awesome is, you can have shifting standart up 100% of the time, if you manage to reactivate it every 15 secs :D Was fun, dont think its that OP tho

Why would you run drink? Biggest disadvantage of this set is lost damage -- you would want stats for that.

Because you can be an offensive tank like that :p
As a pure DD you'll choose food, but for survivability it's not the same.

    This doesn't make sense.
Drink is more survivability than food? Wth are you talking about?

Drink = more regen, more heals, more dodge, more skill before running out, so more survivability. Not really in pve because you don't need heal and dodge every second, but in pvp it's nearly all about resource management.

Why? It would make it useless for a stamina setup then. This way its kinda useful for both, favoring hybrid build (which are least seen anyways). I find the setup is great how it is right now.

No it wouldn't. "kinda usefull" means sub-optimal. Granted, the 5-pc is a powerful bonus. Only testing in PvP will determine if the power of the 5-pc is worth the sacrifice of the rest.

Kind of useful for one a niche makes it not useful at all for a larger portion of players.
