There would be an option to ENABLE prisoner capture, so it's clear to me you DIDN'T READ the comments, so don't lie to me and tell me you did. Otherwise, you woulnd't be saying the "stare at a prison cell for an hour", because, if you had read the comments, you would have seen that is avoidable!!!
I did read that part so don't call me a liar when you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
Everyone would just toggle it off. Except you maybe. So lets spend development time and money on a feature everyone will toggle off while things that we really need are ignored. That is a great use of resources.
Go ahead and keep on making assumptions about me if it makes you feel better. I will never agree this is an good idea would and would make the game more fun and interesting.
...that would depend how much they had to gain by playing along, wouldn't it?Everyone would just toggle it off...
Oh I get it, you only want people that agree with you to comment?
Sorry it is an open forum, not gona happen.
Keep throwing insults at people, it is really helping you make your point.
Not going to change my mind no matter how much you insult me and call me names.
Carry on.
The only one acting like a child is you.
Haha! GROW UP CHILD!!!
Nope, having too much fun watching you spin yourself into a frenzy and think your insults are going to make me go away.Who cares! Move on!

Keep on calling me names, maybe we can get the thread locked before this afternoon.Nope, having too much fun watching you spin yourself into a frenzy and think your insults are going to make me go away.Who cares! Move on!

What, is the lag not punishing enough? Now I have to sit in a cell while two Nord neckbeards complain about women being able to serve in the Pact army?
You better put a big sword in the corner so I can just kill myself.
Another distracted soul that missed the "enable/disable" function
As mentioned, move on before Admins "move you" for molesting on the thread. You have been attacking our opinions since the beginning and messing up the thread. Stop it or I'll report you directly.

You both know it will eventually catch the eyes of the mods. I wouldn't care if either or both of you get comments removed or edited, but I was hoping see more constructive feedback (for and against) the concept of a capture mechanic. Would prefer not to see the thread locked.

This type of system would be open to massive exploitation, as we see with the current PVP system we have now. People logging onto alts, captureing/escaping then taking/retaking a keep over and over for the massive awards, which by the way would (again) have to be good enough to warrant being enabled in the first place. PVDoor would be the least of our concerns once people start to PVSelf for Emperorship.

I'm sorry, this makes no sense. We're fighting a war for control of the map. That means only the players who are high ranking or extremely popular would ever be rescued. Who's gonna rescue that PUG just learning? Or the solo player? Alliance objectives revolve around controlling the map, and the only rescues worth the time will be players everyone knows can contribute to that more than that time and resources spent rescuing them.
Meanwhile, everyone else is not contributing to the battle for the map.
Can anyone (besides Carbon) honestly tell me they would want to spend even 15 minutes where they are stuck in a cell or in any kind of state ( "ghost" a.k.a. revive form) where they would be unable interact or do anything at all and consider that fun?catalyst10e wrote: »Initial thoughts: any idea that would allow itself to be disabled, shouldn't be implemented. plain and simple. maybe once a player kills somebody solo (meaning the dead took no dmg from any other player for 2 minutes or so), they can take the person they killed "prisoner" but with a small loss to AP. they can take up to maybe 5(? )prisoners at once
the prisoner stays in the "revive" status, shadowing the capture around cyrodil.
the capture is shown as a icon on the main cyrodil map for all to see along with a list of their prisoners. they lose the ability to stealth and ride a mount (much like if you posses the elder scroll). they must take the prisoner to the nearest faction owned keep for a large chunk of ap that multiplies on how many prisoners they turn in. once turned in the prisoner can respawn at a keep of their choice. factions members can protect the capture but received no bonus to ap.
players from the prisoners alliance can track the capture on the cyrodil map, and once they kill the capture, they get a nice amount of ap plus instantly revive all prisoners held captive. in order to get the boosted AP you must get the killing blow. also, once rescued, the prisoners received a nice amount of AP too.
there could be a 30 minute timer on holding a prisoner.

While it''d be nice to see something implemented that would encourage smaller scale battles, it still runs into the problem of "your game should never inconvenience mine" and by that I mean, I should not have a 30 minute lock out just because your character is stronger than mine. In buff servers you see a population of lower leveled individuals, and whenever another faction decides to flip a server, it's always a buff server, and it's always a bunch of VR16s. I experienced this on both sides. Suddenly a bunch of VR16s start to come and capture the lvl 37s and VR1s who are just trying to defend their buff server, being locked out for 30+ minutes for simply playing the game, it'd create a huge disconnect and cause people to not want to play PVP at all.

What if you then use the "disable funtion" option and don't participate in capturing or being captured feature?
Or, something like capturing players of similar rank as your (just as a raw example: +/- 3 ranks?
This thread is a rough idea of the feature.
