Whatever that there might be of interest in the particular genre of game, for women. I wasn't thinking of implementing a candy-crush minigame in ESO lolKoshkaMurka wrote: »What should we consider "female interests" if there are females who like "Candy Crush" and females who like "Dark Souls"?failkiwib16_ESO wrote: »then we would see more content catering to female interests.
Storytelling-wise tastes of female audience can also differ - there's "50 shades of Grey" fans, and horror/thriller fans as well, and some of us prefer historical dramas...

Not surprising. Many women wanted to be nerdy and geeky growing up but faced hostility, mockery, and pressure to conform to what was deemed "girly stuff", not science, sci-fi, epic sword and sorcery type fantasy, etc. So comic books, action figures, video games, etc were geared to boys. Now those girls have grown up, pop culture has embraced geekiness, and these women don't give a #$%^ about stereotypes that get in the way of their fun and friendships.
There are clearly many adults on ESO, and quite a larger number of them women. I think some games are a better fit for a wider audience, and ESO has a lot of potential to be that kind of game. OK, back to playing. Anyone want to run the daily Undaunted? Type X in guild...

I think this issue needs to be resolved asap. A pregnant female monster boss needs to be added. One that gives birth mid fight and throws her offspring at you...and they attack you. Yeah, that'd be pretty cool.

Well it's pretty unfair that everything women do is scrutinized so yeah. I'm tired of gaming being an old boy's club.
As for girl gamers, honestly most of my friends on ESO are women. I'm a woman. Maybe if people would stop assuming everybody is a straight dude they might learn things about the demographics of this game.
Two wrongs don't make a right. You don't fight bigotry be being a bigot.

Im also female and I think this fighting over gender equailty in this game in particular is a bit absurd.
Yeah there are more male rulers in this game than female....look at history and tell me that it was any different.
Of the big three in the game, one is female. Nothing wrong with that percentage.
Honestly I dont give a DMN. I love the game, it is well written and I feel as far as story is concerned, it is pretty inclusive.
Male, female, heterosexualism, homosexualism, cross species sexualism. Really what are we arguing about? lol
As far as the costumes are concerned, yea you have a point.
Oh ESO does a lot of things right. I love that they have put forth a world without homophobia or patriarchy. Every fantasy world in existence has at least had the latter, as if it is unthinkable that any existence could have gotten by without it. So that's super refreshing. Which is why when they do stuff like only have one of the Companions be female and put out skimpy female costumes but no corresponding ones for men it really annoys me. They've obviously tried really hard. But they still sometimes drop the ball.
Orcs are traditionally patriarchal for the most part. Makes sense given that they're based on historical Mongol society.

I'm not terribly familiar with Orc influences prior to ESO, but they have always been a nomadic warrior people. In ESO their clothing and armor seem to have heavy influences from Mongolian and eastern Russian styles.

Abnur Tharn acts that way toward Lyris because he's an elitist condescending J@ck@$$ who looks down on everyone except himself. (He's also a mage. Mages have a tendency to treat fighters like they have the dumbzzzz.) His only redeeming feature is that he's patriotic enough to put aside his greed and avarice in order to save the world. You're supposed to hate him.MornaBaine wrote: »As a long time "gamer chick" ESO has done a couple things that push my buttons (and not in the good way). Five Companions. Granted he makes sure to take shots at everybody but Lyris seems to get the worst of it. I get that we're supposed to realize he's a creep but c'mon already.

Gamers are gamers, race, gender, sexuality or any other differences in the person are not important.
The only importance online is, are they a nice person, or another troll/griefer/*bleep*.
It's only of importance because you actually care about having long lasting friendships through this game. Personally I prefer not to have any long lasting friendships through ESO, so I feel much like Turelus and I don't care about stuff like gender or other irl information, unless it is relevant to group play... eg. are they green/red color blind and stuff like that.Yes, but there is a social component to it as well - some of my best and long lasting online friends I met in games under rather weird circumstances. If we would not have talked about RL as well and what "role" we play in the real world, I would have missed out on these friends, because just game-wise we would never have become friends. Just the real person behind it made us friends. So to me it is important, with whom I play, from where they are, what gender they are and what they do in real life. These are all information, which are required to find common ground to build on a long lasting friendship which outlives the game which we are playing together. So IMO this is of importance.Gamers are gamers, race, gender, sexuality or any other differences in the person are not important.
