Where's the challenge? Seems like things took a big step backwards in terms of difficulty.

I get it, not everyone who plays this game wants every overland trashpull to be a life or death encounter. But there is a fine line here and ZoS has flown way beyond it that it does its customers a disservice. I was attacked by a mob in Hew's Bane, went to the kitchen to make a sandwich, and returned and I was still at half health! This is with a light armor build that has just plain stuff.

The reason it does players a disservice because it does NOT prepare them for the mutli-player content the game is supposed to be built around. Without being even moderately challenged ... ever ... how are newer players supposed to learn from their mistakes, what skills are useful, and in general how to play well when they have to do White-Gold-Tower, or PvP, or make a halfway decent showing in a guild training run for trials and what not? I'm not asking to bring back Dosha, I am asking that ZoS develop content that makes it so I can not make make a sandwich during combat and still win.

I'm sure Joy has plenty of ways of being challenged. But that wasn't the point of the post. The point was that the "mainstream" content in this game has been dumbed down so much that most people are woefully ill-prepared when they have to do any of the challenging content.

It also means that there are often huge gulfs that make progression difficult. For example, normal Maelstrom is so easy that I can beat it easily (just two silly deaths) wearing no armor and no jewelry, while I can die hundreds of times in vet. Normal does virtually nothing to prepare a player who wants to do vet. Similarly, the mainstream content in this game does absolutely nothing to help prepare the player base as a whole for doing end-game content.

I know right? i made a thread myself and i got a few responses saying ''its supposed to be solo able'' vMA is solo able (the only way) that doesn't mean it needs to be so easy that you can kill the boss with 1 button spam, it need 200% more health and 50% more damage.

Eh, this has been happening for a very long time now. I remember Doshis, Balreth (spelling?) etc. back in beta, those fights were so much fun. These days I can go through the content with no armor, blindfolded and with my hands behind my back and still kill everything easily. Please Zenimax, buff regular content so that everything doesn't die when you so much as look their way at least.

Or maybe (just maybe) overland bosses are not meant to be as difficult as end game dungeon bosses. Maybe (again just maybe) you should look for challenge someplace besides overland mobs or world bosses.

i think it could be even easier tbh. i get bored quickly. there isn't much to spice things up when you're just questing/levelling. i really liked doshia and wished they didn't nerf her to the ground, so i certainly don't mind a challenge here and there, but not all the time please.

I dunno... I unknowingly picked up some wasps on the way to one of the Hew's Bane delves and stopped before I entered the delve for a bio break. I was not able to respond fast enough to kill them before they killed me. This was with one of my live characters (VR 1, stam NB, medium). Now, I expect I could have killed them under other circumstances, but there is no way I would have survived for 30 seconds just standing there taking it. Long enough to make a sandwich? Nope.

Nonsense. What's the point of any game without a challenge? And you can't tell me that doing nothing while standing in double red circles on a boss and not dying is an acceptable point of balance, even for casuals.

Max CP and good gear. But that's not the point. A VR16 delve boss should not be doing 1k damage per attack. Even a level 10 character scaled up will have absolutely no challenge in this content. Challenge is fun.

    Better mechanic:
The boss's AOEs take away 50% of your health, unresistable. But the boss does not do any damage besides that. Increase boss health a bit so it's a longer fight. Even though this is still pretty easy, you still feel like you accomplished something because you actively had to avoid damage while killing the boss.

Delve bosses have been a cake-walk for a very long time, they haven't been challenging to anybody that knows how to play their class. Besides, the bosses in Wrothgar's public dungeons are also very solo-able so I wouldn't have expected alot from these ones.

I think a big problem is how they are marketing it as for any level. They said themselves you should be able to do this content fresh out of the tutorial, so taking away those CP and running with no gear set? Well, it's likely a different story to that character.

The range in skill, champion points and gear is drastically different from a brand new player and a seasoned player, Zos is trying to balance it somewhere in the middle, but are more likely to ensure the players on the lower end of the spectrum are able to complete the content. Of course, all just my uneducated opinion.

ZOS is very bad at this. New players already have the most content in the game. The first time you step into your first zone, the massiveness is daunting. It takes you a super long time to get through it. Sure, experienced players will be able to blow through everything, but new players spend hours and hours and hours learning the game and getting through the free content. They are not going to buy the DLC and hop into that right away. Just not going to happen.

Orsinium was done correctly. Sure a new player could hop in there right away, but the monsters and bosses are noticeably more difficult than the starting faction zones. But it was fun. There was a good mix of experienced players and vet players, but the content was fun for everyone.

The Thieves Guild seems rushed. The world bosses are nowhere near the quality of Orsinium. The delves are well made (props to the world designers), but they are EASY. My video didn't show this really badass looking monster that happens to be as weak as a skeever. When you play through the regular game, the bigger the monster, the harder the difficulty (Storm Atros, Trolls, etc.). With this DLC, nope. Everything is *** easy. And people are not going to like it.

Could always challenge yourself. Fight without armor for example. Its not always up to ZOS to hold your hand.

Sorry guy but the mainstream content is supposed to be casual. Since the majority of people who play are casual. Not everything is geared towards the uber hard core. This game is not made to be an uber hardcore pve game. If thats what you are looking for then prepare to be disappointed.

Nonsense. What's the point of any game without a challenge? And you can't tell me that doing nothing while standing in double red circles on a boss and not dying is an acceptable point of balance, even for casuals.

Thats only your opinion. Not everyone plays the game to min/max and have all these uber challenges. Some just enjoy playing. Thats why the overland stuff is VERY forgiving while the vet dungeons and trials are not. You have to understand that not everyone is VR16 decked out in the best gear in the game in Orsinium. A lot of people are new and just out of the tutorial. They paid for the content as well. So they should be able to do stuff. If you want challenge then do trials etc.

I do find it amusing tho that someone with max gear, max cp etc is saying things are too easy. If they make it so you need to be max level and have all the best gear to simply do a world boss what about the trial bosses? Overland difficulty is just fine. if anything they should make overland stff and world bosses easier not harder.

I ran overland stuff back when everything wasn't dying by looking at them, at launch. Then I ran with no set items, CP wasn't a thing, no min-maxing at all. Then it was fun, but now they've nerfed it all to oblivion so I can kill level 40 mobs with a level 7-10 char easily. That's not just easier content, that's just about the game playing itself for you......

Everyone in Orsinium and the new DLC are battle leveled and the lvl 40 overland stuff isnt supposed to be hard. Id love to see you solo a group dungeon on your character at lvl 40.

Orsinium wasn't there at launch, I wasn't talking about it in any way. And while they shouldn't be overly hard you should at least have to put some thought into fighting a group of adds that doesn't involve looking their way so that they fall over dead.
And you can solo group dungeons, not as easy as there are more adds there and they got proper health that you won't 1-shot but it's doable, and it's certainly more fun than any overworld adds in the game right now that the game just about kills for you. If you're that bad that you find a challenge in 1-shotting adds then maybe it's not the game that's at fault but rather a fault with the user.

I didn't even finish cadwells gold as I just fell asleep trying to do it, woke up a few hours later and the same mob was still trying to kill me...... A little bit of an exaggeration, but not by much.
