ANY HEALER THAT HEALS IS GOOD OK FINE KTHX -.-

The usual pug templar is good enough, because of BoL. The usual pug non templar healer is an abomination -.-

The endboss in Fungal Grotto is fun with a BoL healer that has no sustain, or a sorcerer healer that crits mutagen for 800 and spams healing ward... the occasional SpecialBorn Yolo stamina healer is also fun -.-'

Knowing which buffs to use, when to use them, when to heal, and when to save the big guns for last (in this case w/e you use as emergency healing). Throw in a few well timed attacks and keep a good eye on everyone's health, and have a good supply of soul gems, health potions and such.

Really though, I have to agree that spamming one spell doesn't make or break a healer. It can be handy but if you don't know how to manage and utilize your skills you're not gonna get very far.

The problem with most group content in ESO is this.

You can heal vet dungeons, you can heal trials, if pretty much no one dies then you are a good healer.
You can tank vet dungeon, you can tank trials, if pretty much no one gets agro then you are a good tank.

You can dps vet dungeons, you can dps trials, if everything is dead before everyone dies, then you are good dps, if dps sucks and everyone dies then it's the healers fault.

You can have the best healer and tank in the game with ESO but it won't matter if dps sucks, you can't complete the content most of the time. Most group mechanics revolve around killing stuff fast or having enraged timers or some other timed mechanic similar to skoria...

Either your groups runs out of time before "timed boss mechanic" triggers, or the group gets complacent and runs out of resources or starts making mistakes, the quicker stuff dies the less time for things to go wrong.

Sometimes you can even get away with 4 dps who know how to survive and no tank or healer, sometimes with a good healer you can go with 3 dps and no tank but you always need dps, dps, dps.

This is 90% of all ESO encounters...which is why the meta for pve is, stack weapon/spell damage and stack total stamina/magicka...add a high damage 5 set bonus, pump CP into damage, damage reduction and resources.

Then cheese through content by nuking everything down fast. The end.

Also a good healer is not one that heals, it is one that heals, does damage, rezzes fast, does cc/support, gives out resources, interrupt's npc's, buffs allies damage and gives them damage reduction.

All tanks have to do is keep buffs up and keep agro, all dps have to do is stay out of red and keep up damage, healers are the swiss army knife of the group, they have to do a little of everything and they are the most important to not screw up, if dd or tank screw up, no big deal you can recover, if healer screws up, wipe.
