Eliminating all BoE would likely tank the market for a lot of things. Mat prices would definitely fall through the floor.
As opposed to eliminating BoP, I would also very much support a system that promoted trading of like items. For example, I could trade a spell power cure Robe for some boots, or a Maelstrom Resto staff for a Bow. That sort of thing. That would keep "rare" items within the hands of those that can clear content, but it would eliminate the maddening frustration of duplicate drops.

Good. Then we can actually play the game instead of wasting our precious gaming time grinding.nordmarian wrote: »If you can buy anything what will be the point of grinding anymore?
You still need to acquire gold to pay for the items.nordmarian wrote: »If you can buy anything what will be the point of grinding anymore?
BoP coupled with RNG sucks.
I've farmed vWGT more times than I can count. I've farmed it so many times that I've gotten five Spell Power Cure chestpieces with infused/divines traits and fourteen Kena helms. Yet I've gotten zero Spell Power Cure shoes with perfect traits (three with non-optimal traits), and zero Spell Power Cure epaulets (of any trait; not that I want them, because I'm using 2p Undaunted, but it's the principle of the matter).
If I could trade some of those excess robes for the perfect shoes, then I'd have my perfect 5 divines SPC set, but nope, it's all BoP. Hmpf.
The reason games have items that BoE is so that items retain value. If everyone could resell everything they no longer needed to other players, you would soon have a huge amount of items in game with no value. If you want items to not BoE, then you need a system where items "wear out", so they are removed from the economy. I used to play an MMO that did not have BoE - and the economy was a disaster.
BoP/No Drop is another thing. It prevents people from acquiring items they didn't earn, and also stops players from "corning the market" on sort after items. I do believe BoP should be a rare tag, for some quested and/or very special items.
Both systems are "nature of the beast" when it comes to MMOs.
