Well, I kinda love mount upgrade system.
I'm using a mount to get from point A to point B, so it doesn't have to be super fast.
I'm investing more in carrying capacity cuz I'm a greedy ***

You don't need to play for 20 hours to feed again. Also, horses are much better now than they were at launch.

A better way? That would totally ruin this little P2W gem. Even though it might not be the most profitable P2W element in the game, its design is flawless, that is how P2W should be done. Anyone can max out riding by in-game means, without paying. It is cheap, even effortless (!), yet no amount of insane grinding will help a non-paying player to be on par with a player who did pay, and those who will not pay anyway will be at least compelled to log in daily (just in case conspicuously "stupid" hireling system was not enough). Brilliant!

We should be able to spend 50k gold and have an upgraded horse.

People have meltdowns over the most insane things

So it takes a half a year (or less if you a crazy diligent) to max a character'd riding skill, it should. I like the training system as is, way better than originally training individual mounts for different uses. It should take some time, and a crappy player in PvP on a fast horse is still a crappy player so PTW seems a stretch.

Couple tips… Make sure to train your other characters everyday, if you have any, even while they just sitting in a bank holding your extra goodies. You never know when you will want to switch and start leveling them. The newbie islands at 60 speed is an extra special treat.

Don't train capacity first if you may non-vet PvP with them unless you plan on never using them for anything but storage or at least not for a few months.

Don't accidentally purchase a riding lesson from the crown store on a character that doesn't need it. They can not be traded once purchased unlike XP scrolls and other items that also say BOUND. Came in a package deal, wasn't thinking… now sitting in junk tab on 60/60/60 main.

@ZOS_GinaBruno … any chance of finding out if there are any plans for unbinding riding scrolls from a specific character someday? I get account binding, but crown store CHARACTER binding on an item seems odd. Most items are not.

I mean.. say you go to buy a bag slot, it checks to see if you can and then lets you buy it if you haven't maxed. It stops you if you are maxed. Why let someone buy a riding lesson (as an actual useable item) if they are maxed and then not let them trade it to another character in their account after they realize they are screwed?

Because it's play how you want, but you will need to make certain sacrifices if you play certain ways. Rushing through means you don't have skyshards, titles, horse upgrades etc, however taking your time to get all these things sacrifices a lot of your time on that one char.

hells yes, it was PER HORSE EVERYTHING.

LOL. Not per char.

We all had a pack horse and a speed horse were were slowly adding stam to for PVP.

Actually in PVP they could be considered P2W (no matter if cheap or not, and I assure you, for some of us with kids and mortgages $180 *is* more than a drop in a bucket and even if not, it is still a LOT of real life cash to upgrade a pretend horse).
