A guide on how to abbreviate veteran Maelstrom Arena

It has three words:
'Veteran', 'Maelstrom' and 'Arena'.

That means we only need three letter to abbrevate it.
'V', 'M' and 'A'.

Because 'Veteran' isn't really a name but a difficulty it would be advantageous not to capitalize it.

So we end up with; "vMA".

This is the perfect abbreviation for veteran Maelstrom Arena.

"MSA" would be a wrong abbreviation since there is no word starting with 's', no matter how much you want to break up 'maelstrom' into 'mael' and 'strom'.

In the same way people need to stop calling this game "TESO", and realize that you don't include the word 'the' in abbreviations. Hence; "ESO".

TL;DR: It's "vMA" and not "VMSA", also stop abbreviation this game as "TESO" and use "ESO" instead.

The word "the" has always been included in The Elder Scrolls games acronyms, hence TES V - Skyrim. Other examples include POTUS - President of THE United States, SCOTUS - Supreme Court of THE United States, MotD - message of THE day, WTF - what THE... well, you know what it means ;)

But I do agree on the other one, I don't really see why people abbreviate maelstrom as MSA.

Most of the times when people refer to them they speak of veteran versions anyway so I don't feel the need to specify it as vMSA and vMA or vDSA and vDA.
MSA and DSA just sound better.

I think vMSA and vDSA were done because it follows the same scheme that everyone else uses for the vet versions Crypt of Hearts(vCoH), City of Ash(vCoA), Imperial City Prison(vICP) and White Gold Tower(vWGT). It's recognisable.

I call it whatever I want because I am a special snowflake. Sometimes I type vma, sometimes vmsa.

No thanks.I hate abbreviations because it marks elitists for the most part.
Meaning that if you arent in on the "know what it is" bit,you are lost and have to ask.Which embarrasses some people. They are words for a reason,to describe what they are to people so they "know".

Actually those are words -- mael means bad and strom means storm. Maelstrom -- bad storm.

Maelstrom is one atomic word, not a word comprised of two words; i.e., "mael" and "strom" do not stand alone as words.

Dragonstar is not atomic, as it comprised of two standalone words, "dragon" and "star".
