Reaction to the return of forward camps?

Current plan:

1. Limit of 20 rezzes per camp
2. Cost of 20K AP per camp
3. Radius is only the size of a keep
4. Can only rez from inside the radius
5. A 2 minute cool-down before using one again
6. Still a limit of 10 active camps per Alliance
7. Nothing about marking them as "group locked"

Are you glad forward camps are coming back?

Do the new values sound good to you?

I thought the old map radius would have been good for a "can only rez inside this circle" change. Twenty rezzes per camp seems low, but it's hard to say how it will work without seeing it in action.

    Only have an issue with #6. With the other changes I don't see why that would still be there, and will only lead to more trolling. They'll be limited enough without that.

    I wonder if the ones already in my inventory will work...or if they'll be like so many of my catapults that I purchase: I set them up, but can't use/interact with them, and then collapse seconds later :/

    Well, they are siege in terms of game mechanics, subject to the same bugs, but, the ones previously purchased will continue to work as well as any other siege, just with the new properties. Apparently players still have about 15,000 banked from before.

    Yeah, that is the main thing that stuck out to me. The old radius, which had nothing to do with re-spawn availability, covered a keep and the surrounding resources. Seemed like a good size for determining who could rez at a camp.

    I'm completely underwhelmed. IMO, a more comprehensive solution is required for fast travel and respawn mechanics. I am a bit discouraged that this is the best ZOS can do after considering this issue for a year.

    Personally, I think ESO PVP needs a new vision.

    I am afraid these new forward camps suffer from the same fundamental problem like the old. In PvP, not only people have to die, be gone, cease to be, go meet their creator, become ex-parrots, but equally importantly, for the love of god, stay dead. Do not get me wrong, pointless deathmatch is fun...for about 15 minutes. But what are we supposed to do in Cyrodiil for the rest of ESOs lifespan with PvP thoroughly stupid, pointless like that?

    Besides, of all issues with PvP, forward camps will be reintroduced to solve exactly...which one? I fail to see it, unless camps go into the cash shop as well.

    They said the ones you already have will work. Also, camps work like Battering Rams in that because you can't interact with them they don't degrade faster over time from no interaction. They degrade at a slow steady pace and can be repaired with siege repair kits.

    I wonder if radius being the size of a keep means the size of an actual keep inside the walls, or if they are referring to the total area that the game still considers part of the keep (for example, you can be a fair bit outside the walls and still get a defense tick for a keep).

    Radius seems to small, basically except for keep fights/ressource farm it will be useless. The radius of a keep means you can see the camp even when not in the radius, so useless for the smallgroup who went far away from his own faction and wanted to use a camp as back up.
    Beside that I'm glad they come back, it should come along with a 2-5 minutes cooldown on rez imo (if you die once, cant be rezed for x minutes) because rezzing in its current state is stupid.

    Edit: Also the 15k camps they talked about are probably all in the inventory of players gone a long time ago and that will never come back (In EU we knew camps wouldnt be sold anymore because we got the patch one day later, so ppl stacked a ton of camps.) I doubt there is more than 100 camps own by active players per megaserver tbh

    The radius should be big enough that if a camp is placed in a keep it covers all 3 resources.

    Yeah I was shocked when I heard Brian saying that. I though he said 1500. might be wrong. Still quite alot!

    • Fix Volendrung (spawn location - weapon white on the map causing the wielder to keep it forever - usable with emperorship)

    I had heard that some guilds had their members buy tons of them after it was announced they were being removed for a while. Not sure how many of those people are still playing, though.

    This change may be okay or may be disastrous. Unless they have found the magic game performance switch, having them in the game will just make it worse.

    i just remember traveling from keep to keep to repair one that had been up for hours in order to prevent troll camps.

    and how, since the game stored up AP for siege defense, and so many people poured through camps to die outside the walls, and then everyone else ran out to resources after they died, you could get these super huge ticks.

    but who knows what they will bring now.

    Only 2,3,and 5 are new, the rest has always been that way. The ones people still have in inv. will still work, even today. They will work after the change too according to the Wheeler interview.

    I'm a little worried this will make for more lag since this change will come with siege changes at the same time. Walls will go down slower, more people will show up to a Keep, and stay longer with camp use. Guess we'll see when the servers implode. Unless there are major coding changes that come with all of this.

    I don't really think we need forward camps. Just make players able to ress at outposts if your alliance owns them. Will make the 3 outposts quite the battlegrounds.
