Anyone else having heavy attacks pause or stop in combat?

Since yesterday, when I hold left click to constant heavy attack in combat, it stops sometimes, usually after using a skill. This never happened to me before. My mouse seems fine for other things, I thought perhaps my left mouse button was failing but I don't think so.

One thing to make sure of, do you have line of sight to the mob. Both for your character and the camera? I have noticed lately that if my camera is elevated so the target reticule is pointing at the ground, even though I am facing the mob, I can't attack. Also, if the mob is not in line of site to the Player Character's eyes, then combat actions are not going to happen. If there is a rack or wall or crates between your character and the mob, same thing, even if you can see the mob and your character can "see" the mob.

Then of course, if this is a wireless mouse, have you changed the batteries recently?

This has been a bug rampant since Orsinium. I still have no idea what causes it but randomly in combat or even out of combat my character will refuse to charge heavy attacks normally. It is most prevalent in Maelstrom Arena, and it often leads to me not being able to wind up heavy attacks for stam, and my character simply sits still and I don't realize till it's too late. It happens on my caster too, to the point where I stopped heavy weaving a lot of the time.

It has nothing to do with my mouse or my computer, it happens to plenty of people I know. This bug happens with or without a target, and I really cannot for the life of me figure out what's going on to shed more light on it. All the bug reports I've sent in likely have fallen on deaf ears since ZoS is notorious for not being able to replicate most bugs internally (go figure when you play on a costume made server with no lag/outside variables).

Yes, since the latest update. Also, in the past I was always able to attack, then use a skill without waiting for the attack to complete. It's a twofer. But now my timing seems to be off so I am getting attack or skill but not both.

I had assumed this was all bad lag stuff because I've mostly been playing in Orsinium but now that I think about it I'll bet it's some kind of nerf. I'll look again but I didn't see anything about this in the patch notes.

Hey, ZoS, what the heck did you do to the UI? How about at least telling us what the deal is so we can adapt?

I noticed this with Dark Flare.

Even when aiming at huge bosses from afar I will not manage to cast more than 2-3 projectiles without my character suddenly stopping casting.

I'll try to get on after work, take one of my toons to a lower level area where I can experiment, and just play with the timing. I'll see if I can replicate this, and if I can work around it.

It's like they put in a mandatory pause between actions, so you can't just hold down the button to keep throwing heavy attacks, and you can't throw a skill till the previous attack/action is done. Attempt at anti-bot measures? If so I pronounce this a FAIL.

It happens a lot, and not only with heavy attacks; sometimes skills won't trigger unless I press the key 2 or 3 times, or unless I use some other skill.

In the meantime my character does absolutely nothing, so you can imagine the fun in duels when you expect to cast a heal and nothing happens.

Ive been having these problems too, I thought it was because I was playing with the pad but apparently it is not.... hope they fix this soon

I have had a similar experience. Sometimes mid combat I go to charge a heavy attack and nothing happens. In using a keyboard and mouse.

I will change batteries and see, but I'm not getting any problems while using mouse for other tasks on computer. Also, I am suspicious of recent update since it suddenly appeared after I patched.

Ok, I tried it in Grahtwood and Orsinium and all the issues were magically gone. It was 1am my time so it could still be an issue related to lag. Someone try it at a high traffic time/area and let us know.

That said, I am always very suspicious of coincidences. The problem appears after a patch and then disappears once we start discussing it on the forum? Hmm. So my guess is that whatever was causing it, ZoS quit doing that. Thanks ZoS.

I am getting the same problem with a DK in Malabal tor with the mouse and keyboard, There is a delay and for my DK now I have to double click and also with the keyboard then it stop's working and I am no longer killing but been killed for no reason, This problem only started after the last patch from 2.2.6 to 2.2.7.
I have invested a lot of gold into this game, I like playing this game, But now it's like A well know software company

Im having problems as well, when Im with weaving crushing shock the medium attacks sometimes change to a full-charged heavy attack out of nowhere..

Have the problem aswell. I usually keep my heavy attack button pressed and throw in skills in between HAs but sometimes my character just stops heavy attacking. And he will not start again within the next 30+ seconds.

I have been having this issue with my Lightning Staff... randomly after a heavy attack, I cannot even interact with items UNTIL I actually charge another heavy attack (which actually only causes the character to squat down like he's trying to listen to the ground) and after that, all is well again. It is VERY weird and again as others noted, this started happening AFTER the Orisnium update but it is happening to me in regular leveling zones.

I think this thread here is also talking about the same 'bug'. Like me, most people are finding doing a HEAVY attack when you experience this problem resolves it.

Don't know if it's the same thing, but saying that doing a heavy attack solves it is a stretch. The problem for me isn't the looting, it's that the bug is messing up my heavy attacks and therefore my rotation. Before, I could keep LMB pressed and it would charge up a heavy attack, I could then weave a skill into it and it would start charging up a heavy again. Now after I use a skill I have to fumble with the LMB because not only does it not immediately start charging an attack, it seems to be unresponsive for a while.

I have something related to basic mouse attacks too.For me is when using sorc overload.I start tapping the mouse for overload light attacks when suddenly it does 2 things;it stop shooting just stand there doing nothing even tho im clicking OR it start doing overload heavy attack even tho im not holding the button.IS EXTREMELY ANNOYING!!!

Had this bug multiple times yesterday tanking vWGT.

Being unable to heavy attack for stamina back, as a templar without self means to restore stamina, is doable but really frustrating. Nothing happens when you hold down the key. Only fast tapping for light attack works. Had to eat overly expensive tri-pots to avoid getting knocked and unable cc break

That is a separate issue and has been reported countless times, but still unfixed.

I'm the original poster of this thread and I'm not sure what's happening in the other, but THIS is exactly what I am describing. New to me in this entire year of playing, started after Orsinium patch.

Edit: Yes, I'm a templar tank as well, similar to the poster two above this. I've died several times as a result of this back, being unable to replenish stamina because heavy attack stops working. I've actually not played the last 2 days cause of this annoyance, will try again today.

Press the Windows key
right click on the desktop
alt tab back into the game window
do a forward roll or a couple of moves forward (w w etc)

this sometimes clears the problem

Yes, still unplayable during prolonged fights in dungeons and bosses, I run out of stamina due to lack of heavy attack. At some point, holding left click just doesn't do anything.

Hah! And here I thought I was just being paranoid. I noticed it happening after Monday's patch and chalked it up to lag initially but it's happening way too regularly for that to be the case. It's becoming a seriously obnoxious issue and a major liability with my healer.

I'll be looking right at a hostile target with nothing blocking my line of sight and heavy attacks just will not go off. Light attacks will, but not heavy. Targeting in general seems to be a bit off as I'll be only a few feet from a hostile looking right at them and my attack skills will be greyed out as though I have no target or am out of range. If I cast either Dark Flare or Radiant Glory I am rendered incapable of using a heavy attack for several seconds. Swap weapons and once again I'm unable to use a heavy attack for several seconds. Occasionally using skills and weapon swapping becomes unresponsive. I end up having to press the button 2-3 times in order to get it to work.
