Race change will be here eventually. But I have serious doubts it will be less then 2500 crowns.

It should be at least 5000 crowns + all achievements, dyes etc wiped, and character reset to level 1 in the Coldharbour prison

No way lmfao .. no one would do that if that was the case. you might as well start a new char

I'd rather see more character slots available than race changes. Changing your race/species just seems sick and wrong. Still it doesn't bother me too much if someone else does it. Personally, I'd like the option to just make a few more characters, at the very least enough to make 1 of each race: Imperial, Nord, Argonian, Dunmer, Breton, Redguard, Orc, Altmer, Bosmer, Khajiit.

@dodgehopper_ESO I completely agree with you. Race change is a cop out and just feeds to the FOTM. Create more character slots instead. ESO is constantly changing and so is the meta, so why pay actual money for some meta (that's what race change is all about essentially) that will eventually change in the future? Basically your real money is going to waste. Unfortunately most people are short-sighted and never look into the long term ramifications of changes.

Well why should we need to make new char with the few char slots we have for ZoS is lazy in both add more char slot and add race change that people have been ask basically since day 1 in this game and if people want to pay real money for let them it is there money after all :) but i personal would love to see more char slot in game.

Are you on crack? That's almost the same as making a new character. They already said it is in the making and I for one can't wait to change out of this uselessness the Nord race has become after 1.6...

There should be no option for race change. Profession change? Yes, but not race.

...that's still called "making an alt"...
Noone would pay that for this, and it doesn't help the discussion. Though I respect that some consider race change a really bad idea... I even half agree with them, though I prefer to be more reasonable in my considerations. ;)
    ArgoCye wrote: »

Race change is actually more lore-conform then profession "change". Yeah, it would be more logical for people to stop training as one profession and start training in another, but "change", as in, "forgetting all they learned in the original profession so far" is not. And since dual classes would be opening a huge can of worms in the "cherry-pick a super-effective combination" department, and a nightmare to balance, I don't really see that happening...

Race change on the other way is easy enough to implement, and desired by a huge mass of whining min/maxxers who cry on the forums all the time how some racial passives adjustment made their build "useless" (aka, cost them a whole three percentage points of effectiveness) and would happily shell out crowns to switch to a "more effective" race so they can respec their build into (again) super-effectiveness.
Oh, and a few who's want to redo their characters race for roleplay reasons too.

And since we have some in-lore precedents for race change, be it a quest in greenshade where a dunmer quaffles a potion to turn himself khajiit but gets the mix wrong and goes argonian instead to the legends/history about the origin of dunmer or orsimer...
...I expect ZOS will add race change with on in the wake of the long-promised "barbershop" character recustomization option(s). I would think, somewhere around 2500-3000 crowns might be a decent price, I really hope it won't be for less...

I wouldn't use it at this point, since I don't give a flying fa... uhm... bowel gas expulsion about racial passives, but select my character races for what feels right for the character -idea- I have, but hey, I wouldn't mind ZOS making a profit from the people who do see a need to change race - it only means more money in their warchest to finance more content sooner for the rest of us, right?

And if they add race change, they might add extra races to the crown store too someday, with an eye towards luring people into paying even more crowns and increase their profit. I would have no objection to that either, more options are good for us, more profit is good for them, good for them means more ESO for us.

The amount of time whining on here... You could be vet 16 by now.

I hope it never comes. Games need consequences for choices. People should do research before just hopping in.

This will cater to FOTM builds. It's a silly idea tp be fair.

They're getting rid of VR. Just wait for that. Then you just need to get to 50, which takes like 3/4 days. Reroll won't be an issue

How can players reasearch what gets nerfed changed revamped every update much less for vet players how can you research something that hasn't been done yet for us early launchers. Info to research was vague and scarce during launch on pc and many realize mistakes made in the beginning.

To add to this, no one want's to re-do all the achievement's. I am a one character kind of person. I've done everyone. I've gotten emperor and that damn fishing title. I don't wanna re-obtain those or let alone level an entire character for a simple race change. I also bought into the imperial edition not knowing that there were other races to fit my play-style.

So yes, i guess coming on to the forum's and asking if this feature is on it's way is considered whining...

They've changed the game so much since launch that they should give everyone a complementary race change, then charge people. In the beginning, there were no stamina options at all. There were soft caps on stats. Then they changed everything. Heck, they even changed the racial passives pretty drastically. There was no way to predict what they've done.

This wouldn't be an issue if passives didn't matter, but they do. ZOS actually screwed over a lot of us with all the changes. Some have really benefitted, but, for example, if you play Argonian, they have left them at the bottom.

Race abilities haven't changed that much.

Of course you can research. Just make a character, check the passives...

Race change would just mean everyone is the same race. Whatever race sypher would suggest as best for one of his new builds, everyone would just switch to that

    1. PPl who wants to Play FOTM - Builds, grind them up really fast. They dont Need a Racechange. A Racechange would only acclerate this, but the Chase for FOTM Builds is in Game yet.

    2. Some PPl build their own Characters, giving a **** on what a handfull PPl says which Build you have to use or not. These PPl have Chosen the wrong Race pre 1.6, or try to Balance their Build to Min/Maximize without losing all the Crafting & Archievements. These People should have the Right to Change their Races because no one could know how 1.6 works, before. It is a big Difference between 10% on Magicka pre and after 1.6 through removing Soft/Hardcaps, for an Example.

I think it will come, not 100% sure but the Benefits for all, Zenimax & Players, are to great. Some People have a Problem with the Racechange, but not every Reason is fair. Sometimes it smells like "Hihi, you have the wrong Race, i love it" or "OMG, OMG...if he can Change his Race he has the same Bonus like me and i have no Advantage in PvP/PvE, any more".

So, it is a fair Thing for all Players and you can use it or leave it. For all other Reasons like Lore and Roleplay, i would say the most Players gives really a damn about it, but they are handy Arguments to regret it. As i said if you are a RPer or dislike this Option, dont use it then. No one Forces anyone to use the Racechange, but i was "forced" to use the 1.6.

I want a name change for my vet and crafter and while I know something like a barber shop will be implemented, I have no idea if a way to change name will ever happen.

So I'm just currently leveling my vet's replacement, as its probably faster than waiting for something that might not happen -_- Name change was all I wanted.

Oh really? Khajiits used to have +10 or 15% critical damage (I forget because it's been so long) as a racial at launch. It ended up making one of the absolute best mages in the game, even moreso given the softcaps we had in place. And now? You're going to tell me khajiits still make for great mages? :)

Ideally I'd want to have Name Change, make-over kits (for changing all those sliders and such), Gender change and more Character slots available before Race Change.

I mean, I'm down for all of them, of course. Every bit of that is more opportunity for ZOS to make more $$$ off of us. But name change and Make-over kits would have me not deleting and remaking characters because I was unhappy with something I did.

I think instead of race change, it would be better if the constellation/champion system along with an intelligent set of softcaps actually allowed all races to be more or less on equal footing with all purposes. Racial passives should be a nudge in one direction or another, but I strongly believe we need a system that makes any race viable for any purpose. Softcaps and tweaking of the Champ system could very easily do that. It just seems a shame that one must grievously hamstring their characters if they play a Redgard Mage, an Altmer Warrior, etc.

That wouldn't be TES anymore... the lore always had racial advantages in this field or another. It makes sense too, sometimes this little thing called evolution and a bit of selective breening makes for differences... a family generations living in skyrim will by nature tend to be better able to deal with cold as some altmer from sunny summerset isle. A argonian with vestigal webbed toes might have an edge in swimming contests. Mer blood helps with magica mainipulation. et cetera.
Besides, it would just cater to those darn min/maxxers again to cherry pick their preferred boni... let them go and enjoy games where there are no racial differences instead.

Now, reducing how much of a advantage the racials should give, to make it less of an "grievously hamstringing" issue, that I could see. But that's a different discussion. Besides, my Dunmer Nightblade, Nord Sorceror and Argonian Dragonknight are all doing fine and not all that interested in changing their race... ;)

But the main point is still, selling a race change option is a win-win for ZOS, they get profit, the people who whine about racial passives get an alternative and more reason to stay in ESO, and everyone else gets more ESO due to the more profit for filling the ZOS warchest.

Before the option to change race and considering CPs, some racial passive skills should be reviewed, especially the ones with max stats.

We know the "Barber Shop" is in the work's. Since this is taking so long, one can hope that there will be new hairstyle's and feature's to change. Most likely changeable with gold or crown's. Possibly new building's and npc's to go with this, an actual Barber Shop you can enter.

I'm not to sure if Race Change will be included. This is a touchy subject for some.

There's so little known about both. All we get is "they are in the work's" statement's.
