- We’re still working on the system – nothing is finalized. (which is why we’re not really talking much about it yet)
- The intention is that once you hit 50, champion points take over. Veteran Ranks are completely removed.
- When Veteran Ranks are removed, we will convert any Veteran Ranks on your highest character into CP.
- To get a rough idea of balance - think of 10CP = 1 VR. (so 160 CP will roughly = VR16)
Additional Details:
- We’re planning on giving 2.5 CP for every VR level you’ve earned on your highest level character. (40 for a VR16 character)
- When the conversion happens, any player with CP less than their old veteran rank * 10 will instead be given enough CP such that their total is VR * 10. For example: A player is VR14 with 75 CP, they will be given 65 CP (140-75) instead of 40, so that they can still equip any gear they may have.
- We will make sure the 16 attribute picks you got from VR1 to VR16 will carry over. (current plan is an achievement that goes up in 10 CP increments until 160)
Keep in mind that none of the stuff above is 100% locked in. We're still implementing the feature - things are subject to change. It's important that everyone understands they are not suddenly going to have to have 501 CP in order to equip the top level gear. We will introduce new gear, with higher CP requirements sometime in the future, but we won't be making huge jumps. (i.e. - we won't go from 160 to 400 suddenly)
Once we finalize the system and lock in more of the details, we will discuss things in more detail and answer questions.

No, instead they'll call it "Champion Rank 550"... "Champion Rank 600"... etc...
So a few DLCs down the line, when they raise the Champion Cap again, you'll see gear like this:
...and you better hope you're Champ Rank 502 by then.
Good luck trying to balance anything when the people with more Champion Points than you (ya'know, the people who are already stronger than you by virtue of having more CP passives) can also equip better gear than you!
I just wished you guys would play more or better yet move to fallout or something. The vr levels are errrr were fine and you qq them to death so now the cure is worse than the disease. They cannot make you anything that will make all of us happy. Nerf this buff that when has anything been fixed to your satisfaction? Just fix the lag and I will be happy.
This is unnecessary, but not a problem.
How exactly is this "worse than VR"?
Sounds good.
I dont know how VRs were so bad, we all knew they couldnt keep going with them forever. Did you guys really imagine they are going to increase normal levels to 60 and VRs to 100? And when they are at 100 VR level, theres 50 different endgame material?

You DO REALIZE that this is a bait and switch, right? They are literally just turning V16 gear into CP160 gear... and there will eventually be CP200 gear... and CP550 gear... and CP700 gear... and CP2000 gear...
(put yourself in the shoes of a new player who joins the game 2 years from now)
They actually found a way to continue the endless Vet Rank increases while making it SEEM like they're doing you a favor taking Vet Ranks away...
The main difference being that you don't have to grind VR with every alt; it's an account-wide grind so that it's not as excessive. It will be longer to do through CP being more and slower, but the account-wide leveling appeals to me as I switch between my chars a bit.

That's the ONLY good thing about this change LOL!
However... the fact that I can easily have 8 Level 50 alts, all fully equipped with CP300 gear... it's a nice perk, but that's not going to make me more competitive in PVP against people wearing CP501 gear. Same goes for anyone interested in endgame PVE. Imagine looting some epic CP600 gear off the final Murkmire Trial boss... and finding out you now have to grind XP for 40 hours in order to equip it.
