Maelstrom Gold Sink

With the release of Orsinium being great all the new content and all the new gear, and the release of Maelstrom Arena it's been a real blast, but running Malestrom Arena costs about 50,000 gold per run this includes Potions and Repair Bills (with CP Cap you can't manage to get the reduced repair bill cost anymore either) and because of so it's restricting many players from running that content now as they can't support it due to the lack of making gold - everything being Bind on Pickup.

I know ZOS won't acknowledge the issue with the overwhelming amount of BoP for no reason behind it but if it is stopping players from running content (DLC content) then it's becoming a problem. Not sure what you guys are doing but please change your minds, this is getting pretty bad, most of the guys I play with are having trouble getting into Arena now, not only does it not drop Masters Weapons each time, the gold sink is absurd, gives a lot of resentment and feeling restricted into what content you can actually do especially when there is no guaranteed Master Weapon drop with random traits.

With an average of 50,000 gold per run and random traits you're looking at spending around 20,000,000 gold just to get the weapon you're looking for. I've personally done 5 runs and completed three times and have spent over 200,000 gold.

I've only completed once but regular trash magicka pots seemed to work well in there and they're practically free at most guild traders. Your stam friends will probably trade you a stack for a stack of stam ones too.

Yeh until I find a solid build to farm the first boss in vet, I will not be returning to either non vet or vet. Gold cost is horrendous.

I don't mind the challenge of VMA, But IMO it's not worth the time or gold to do it.

Yeah i only use regular crappy pots, but it's still very costly to run it

All the BoP gear doesn't make any gold

And it's dumb to sell the drops you get cause...it's BoP gear you can't get it anywhere else so why would you sell it

I'd rather be spending my time elsewhere if I can't do the content I want to do and support it with gold by selling the items I get for it.
I really do hope they understand this. Players will not play if they're forced to run around aimlessly for materials they sell when they could be inside MSA

It's exactly like VDSA, you do the content to get gold to support doing the content. There's no way I'm going to farm materials in a circle or kill mobs in a circle so I can get enough gold to run arena.

Once you get the hang of Maelstrom it definitely doesn't cost 50k per run, but you're right, it is a gold sink, as there's no way to sell any of the rewards.

I've built up a huge amount of Reagents from doing Writs that are involved in making Restorative Potions. I even have almost 200 Columbine!

Yes, after running this quite a few times myself... I see my gold pile start to decrease just because of the pots I do buy. I know the "general" cheap pots are available, but usually 'm using a pot on cool down (Tri Pots) for regen/resources and/or emergencies and those suckers are NOT cheap.

vDSA was awesome in the fact you could go in and get a chance at gear to sell and not feel like you got shafted each run by the pitiful amount of gold from chest.

For vMA, they should definitely increase the gold drop per chest and the final chest to make the content worth doing aside from sub par gear. (my opinion ofc)

Some people want to run content to make them gold to pay the people who support potions (crafters). It's an MMO some people like crafting and supply the potions etc etc

Have you even read the OP? You know this applies for everyone not something like a personal issue because your group play build doesn't work with solo play

It's your time and gold. I have the skill points that gives me 3 extra (4 in total). Also maxed cooking and enchanting. I'm basically my own guild. If you don't want to take the time (which isn't much) to level professions and get the mats, so be it.

you've read my mind. with those BOP sets, i really just can't make any sort of gold whatsoever. i've been struggling with gold because i've been spending so much with no income. in the past, i would make gold by selling the sets i get from the runs i do, and now there is absolutely no way for me to make gold other than making *** and sell which i dont usually do. and yes i've been spending so much gold on the arena runs too, it's just so much gold needed to finish the run. they need to do something

My only complaint. I don't play enough to make scads of gold. Although I keep progressing through vet maelstrom as I learn the mechanics, the gold sink has me down to a snails pace.

I agree it is harder to earn gold in this game now. I used to make miliions trading but MM put an end to that.
So i decided i would go pvp, i earned 10 million ap , back in the day people payed good gold for ravager and cyro light rings

With IC patch Ap became useless. The new thing was farming tv stones and trophies. The first two weeks it was easy again to make millions

Now with Orsinium patch i had 5 million Ap saved, but 500 k Ap buys you a akaviri chapter that sells for 80 k gold , same 500 k was worth 3x more in the ravager days. So i gave that one a miss

With the best sets in slot being crafted sets (which is awesome in a way) and bop sets to complete it or tweak it, the only thing that makes a lot of gold fast are ancestor silk and runes

The other things like the new ancient orc motive only appeal to a small market it seems.

I guess when people have crafted their new gear it will be harder to make gold, so the OP is right

Maybe zeni can put 2 stacks of tripot potions in the loot table for the last chest ^^

another idea i had

pvp rewards get gold at the end of campaign

why dont we got gold with our weeklys?

in order to make gold in PvE you need to farm something which is really lame

if I was full time pvp'er I wouldve had more then half a mil AP (prolly somewhere around 2-3 million) when the patch dropped and would be rolling in gold from akiavari

but alas I had only saved half a mil poor poor pve scrub
