Because the thousands of other people who didn't care about the popup saw the whining in the title and decided not to click on it in the first place.Oh yeah, and more agrees on my post than on any of yours so there you go.
So of course you're going to get a majority of the agrees, which means nothing.
I am sorry but NO WAY.
I pay a sub and I do not appreciate basically Pop up ads I have to close or wait for them to close before I can do anything with my character.
Am I gonna need AD Blocker - ESO Edition? I guess I'll get in touch with them about an add-on.
I don't want to get into a whole argument, but an opinion is, "I feel a popup window for the crown store is wrong, and here's why". Your title looked more of a whine to me, yes.First of all: It is SO RUDE and dismissive to say WHINING. Stating an opinion is not whining. You of all people should know that.
Seriously. You lead with that and then I just don't care what else you say.
I don't use the launcher because it's a pile of crapCaptainObvious wrote: »If only there was some sort of launcher that provided sound bites and possibly had a picture to it indicating that there was say, a new Mind Shriven Horse in the Crown Store. Nice attempt to change the topic there, but you know I never said I was against having an option to opt out. You know perfectly well that what I took issue with is you being *ahem* creative with the truth.RinaldoGandolphi wrote: »Really? You're actually trying to claim that a one-time pop-up on login that you can instantly get rid of with one click isn't better and less obtrusive than having big yellow letters pop up right in the middle of your screen over and over multiple times while you're in the middle of playing the game, along with a sound to announce them, and with no way to exit out of them? We don’t plan on doing the in-game messaging anymore. That was, honestly, just to get the word out about the Senche-Leopard due to the very limited amount of time it was being offered. We heard our players loud and clear that they didn’t like the in-game messaging, so it’s gone the way of the dinosaurs. We’re working on better in-game messaging about limited-time offers and sales that aren’t as intrusive.
*Note: I said saying and said way too many times there. That was ridiculous of me, and I apologize in advance to anyone who reads what I said.
Here we are with a better in-game messaging system that is not as intrusive?
Are you kidding me? How is replacing an in-game message annoucement with an in-your face pop ad you can't turn off and your forced to look at in any way "better and unobtrusive"?
Your missing the point!
There should be an opt-out. I should have the option of turning them off permanently if i don't want to see them, I should never be forced to see it.
Can i make this anymore clear to you? Where is my option to opt-out?
Regardless, this discussion has outlived its usefulness. Its obvious you don't see repercussions of this....just wait till they start changing the Crown store twice a week...suddenly instead of it being a once a month thing its a multiple time per week thing...and that will be coming next.
These types of Ads don't belong in anything short of a F2P game...any game with a sub or folks buying the game to play have the expectation to not be hounded with in-game advertisements all the time....but whatever...i have said my part......the lack of an opt-out option is unacceptable....just give it a few months, you will see what i was talking about.
Good day

Honestly, it would take more time to go into my settings and make it optional than it took me to make it disappear!!
(Well, after I admired the goat, of course.)
First world problems. Yeah.

Also, exaggerative statements in the OP such as "Am I gonna need AD Blocker - ESO Edition? I guess I'll get in touch with them about an add-on." is another clear indication of whining.
Everybody is guilty of it when they are defending things they are passionate about, so there was no need to take too much offence.
It's useful for people that like to know what's added in the game.
While I agree that it was a bit obtrusive and we do have adverts on the launcher anyway, I would rather have it in this manner than the big yellow letters flashing across the screen when I am questing or in battle. At least it appears just after you log in, and not while you're actually in game. I did think it was nice to have a notice that new things were there.
That said, I can certainly understand why some people might want an opt out and that should be doable on the options.
Also this game is NOT Free to Play. It is Buy to Play; you still have to buy it to play it. It just isnt Sub to Play any more.
RinaldoGandolphi wrote: »I never thought i'd see the day folks would defend a company for forcing popup advertising in your face...sure you can close it but your FORCED to look at it with ZERO way to opt out.
There should always be a way to opt out of this kind of stuff, ZOS offers no way to do so...even if you hide the message once as soon as they change something in the store, its back...thats just ridiclious....
I'd much prefer this instead of pop-ups IN-GAME... this is a much better method of advertisement.
That being said, I think if you are a subscriber to ESO+ you should have the option to turn off the popup.

You want to push ads on people that don't, fine, but I want the option to turn it off. I absolutely LOATH popup ads, and I find them especially offensive in content that I'm paying for.
Took me a little longer, because I wanted to see what new things they added that I could buy with the free crowns that come with my membershipkurioskurion wrote: »Just close it... Takes what, .5 seconds? >.>
