CrowsDescend wrote: »@Dracane Hmm.. well, I don't know if my calculations are right -- Blazing Shield absorbs up to 15% of my max health, so I assume the 10% from Bastion causes my shield to increase by 25% instead, equaling in 5.5k damage absorb with 22,000 health, or am I getting confused? lol
30000 * 0.15 = 4500
4500 * 1.1 = 4950
4950 * 0.53 = 2623.5 ≈ 2623
(30000 * (0.3 + (0.04 * 5))) * 0.5 = 7500
7500 * 1.1 = 8250
8250 * 0.53 = 4372.5 ≈ 4372

I think I'll invest in 30k health then!

You could use Ecplise and binding light then to support your damage output.
Ecplise becomes better the more damage your oponent deals and binding light is OP burst when used right.
Just an idea how to still deal good damage. I wish, Ecplise would also work against physical attacks.
Yet another proof for stamina bias in this game. Everything counters magic, nothing counters stamina.

@Dracane, Blinding Light has gone the way of the dodo, and has been replaced with Radiant Destruction. What you are looking for is Backlash
Also, if you are using Eclipse, use Unstable Core morph. Unstable Core has a far more subtle animation, which instead of a big black ball yelling at your opponent to CC-break, it replaces it with a subtle golden glow around the target's arms. It's nearly impossible to spot the new animation of Unstable Core, especially in the heat of a large battle.
@CrowsDescend: If you truly want to kill people with your Blazing Shield, go for 50k+ health. A certain AD templar is rather infamous for blowing up anyone who tries to melee him, due to his 61k health as a non-emperor.
CrowsDescend wrote: »Lmao... I can imagine that. I'm not particularly trying to kill people with Blazing Shield though, it's just that I feel weak against 2-4 enemy players, with 22k health, they can literally 1 shot me so I'm eating food instead of regen drinks for 28-30k health now, not like that makes much of a difference but yeah.

That's your 15% base plus your 10% Bastion bonus, which is 16.5% and is rounded up on the tooltip.

So when it all comes down to it, you either go for an actual, proper build based around Blazing Shield, or you don't use it, I guess...
The reason why, is because the shield just doesn't absorb enough damage to even get off any damage ability, especially puncturing sweeps(tested it our for like an hour)
For the record, I'm 5 light (Phoenix, gold) 2 heavy (magnus, gold) willpower one-handed swords, necklace and Cyrodiil's light rings. I'm not following any particular builds, I'm basically just using what works for me and so far, I have no trouble in 1v1, but I like to 1v[x], I find it fun, so that's why I was giving blazing shield a try just so I can actually survive through CC since I can break out of all kinds of CC when I use a drink, but then my health is only 22k and I get blown up in an instant (with drinks) so yeah...

Pretty much that. Blazing Shield really needs high investment to be able to use it effectively, and this investment means 50k+ health. This will leave you with a rather poor magicka pool, which means all you'll be doing is spamming Blazing Shield and Restoration Staff heavy attacks. You'll essentially be what is known as a "Bombplar", which has only one role. Get into the middle of a group of enemies, spam blazing shield and hope that you can kill them before they kill you.

DeanTheCat wrote: »Let's say you have 30k health (Using round numbers for easier calculations).
Due to the battle spirit debuff, your blazing shield will provide a 15% shield instead of 30%. This means that you'll have a 4500 base ward.30000 * 0.15 = 4500
As you have a 10% increase in effectiveness of wards, this new value will be increased by 10%. This results in you having a 4950 point ward.4500 * 1.1 = 4950
When the ward shatters, 2623 damage will be dealt to nearby enemies. This value is unaffected by the battle spirit nerf, after a change on the PTS due to concerns of a "Double nerf" due to battle spirit.4950 * 0.53 = 2623.5 ≈ 2623
Now, if you were surrounded by 5 enemies. As Blazing Shield increases the strength of the shield by 4% for each nearby enemy, you'll have an effective ward strength of 7500.(30000 * (0.3 + (0.04 * 5))) * 0.5 = 7500
With a 10% increase in effectiveness of wards, the new modified ward strength is 8250.7500 * 1.1 = 8250
This will result in 4372 damage being dealt to nearby enemies when the ward shatters.8250 * 0.53 = 4372.5 ≈ 4372
